Fiction writing is too hard :( how do I give up?

dont. write for yourself and yourself only. write something that makes you happy. it doesnt matter if otheroids like it or not

Don't give up! Write about Grace and Alunya.

the only fiction i can write is brutal murder fantasies and pornography

all writing should be personal and come from your person. dont just make shit up, use your own experiences and then make shit up based on said experience ^_^

I do this already, and sometimes get feedback that it's not going to appeal to anybody else, which is fine. My main problem is I have been working on a novel for many years that is an enormous struggle to write. I like having written but it's like pushing a boulder uphill to actually undertake the process of writing. I think I'm pretty good at it but it never easy or very enjoyable.

why is it not enjoyable? actually curious because ive always wanted to write down my own little universe with extended lore

another disciple of the marquis de sade?

yes, indeed.
shall sadistic libertinism never die.

I don't know, I guess I'm more a thinker than a doer. I can daydream about writing fiction or essays or theories all day but when I actually sit down to do it I'm miserable. I spent like a month feverishly researching and planning for another novel and then when I actually tried taking a stab at writing any of it I hit a wall.

idk, if it doesn't come naturally to you perhaps consult a textbook, that alone will put you above the masses, even to be avante garde you have to known the rules so you can break them otherwise it's like throwing shit at a wall and hope it sticks which is fine if you enjoy writing for yourself or have something to prove.

Another thing that helps is to have a worldview to draw moral implications from, it doesn't have to be yours personally but for the sake of coherence.

>Fiction writing
Reading it is a complete waste of time when you have so much non-fiction to read.

I like art. I don't just want information.

Are there textbooks for fiction writing? I've only ever read Stephen King's writing book which was mid and he's a hack anyway. Though I wish I had just a smidge of his ability to crank shit out.

Here’s the copypasta from the /lit/ writing general thread:

RESOURCES & RECOMMENDATIONS: https://pastebin.com/nFxdiQvC

= WHEN POSTING FOR CRITIQUE =
- State whether you want feedback on prose, dialogue, pacing, general impressions, or if anything at all is fine.
- Give context. Short story, essay, chapter from a novel? Is it genre fiction? Standards and expectations vary based on what you're writing.
- If it's a first draft, say so. Most anons aren't willing to critique low effort writing samples, so edit and proofread.
- Images are more frequently engaged with than links, but do as you please. Pastebin often rejects content and doesn't allow italics, so rentry.co is the suggested alternative.
You're asking for a stranger's time and effort. Put some of your own in.

Thanks friend. I will try and check out those books. I had forgotten I've been meaning to read the Le Guin one for a while.

Well some friends read a section of my novel and they don't think I should throw it in the trash so I guess I have to keep working on it.
