I want to get into it. I am an geriatric millenial who hasn't skated since the first Tony Hawks Pro Skater fad back in the early 00s. It is funny people consider it an ex lusively young people sport, when I think it probably has some of the oldest medalists of any olympic sport besides like shooting or something. Oldest and youngest. Interesting sport.

>The oldest skateboarding Olympic medalist is Andy Macdonald, who was 51 years old when he competed at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

<The youngest skateboarding medalist to win a gold medal at the Olympics is Arisa Trew, who won gold in the women's skateboarding park final at the Paris 2024 Olympics at the age of 14

It doesn't require that much athleticism
Just good muscle memory from trying tricks over and over and eating shit constantly.
It's get easier once you can ollie over stuff but before that it is tough

How old are you? Honestly past a certain age, the only thing fun about skating is doing transitions and kickflipping over stuff.

It's cool and fun but dumb which is why it's associated with young people

What else is there to do? I see skaters around and that's all they do. Grind on some ledge, kickflip over some stairs, etc.

>>45983
The tricks can get incredibly complex but 99% just do basic shit like grinds and flips. If you can do those you're pretty much in the top 1% of those who've ever attempted skating

it's not accessible to poor people lmao

Honestly it's kind of annoying that it's exclusively associated with kids. I'm 38 and just as fit as ever since I don't eat like shit and exercise regularly but society deems the appropriate sport for me is golfing or pickleball even tho I'm probably more athletic than most skaters. I've consistently trained since I was a teen so I don't feel old at all. But I'm too afraid to mention I'm into skating to my work colleagues

Sure it is until you eat a hospital bill

>>45985
How not? You can get a top of the line skateboard for like $100-$200 and then after that, everything else is free. Lots of public skateparks or you can just skate on the sidewalk or trespass and skate.

It's really not that dangerous if you wear a helmet. 99% of injuries are just sprains
