Alas, I know that this is iteration #68 of the Russian media class and Medvedev types running their mouths about how tough they're gonna be against a new Wunderwaffe escalation, only to focus on the usual overnight strikes on ammo dumps and slag heaps.

No I can't, no no, I can't hurt her soul
My love for you she must not know ♪♪
>>2286860Yeah I guess, the point is that the law only applies when the UN wants it to apply which essentially means when the west wants it to apply. It’s not necessarily going to avoid escalation towards WW3 anymore than if Russia did it because they just fancied doing it one day and that’s why I expect Russia isn’t actually going to attack Berlin.
Cucked? Yes, tbh. But I’ll have to say I won’t die happy if the west chimps out over Berlin, even despite the legality and just logical reasoning behind the attack.
>>2286867yes, the west wrote the rules, are always the first to break them, and will be the first to leave them. The global south is not at risk of leaving the UN, it's the other way around, since the west is a minority
You're also right in that Russia will probably not strike Berlin, but the fact that they're threatening to is not the weakness some people here assume
>>2286880>>2286881I’ve said it before over the years, but the only reason I can think of for why they keep making the point that they could, legally, do something like strike Berlin or bomb a British weapons factory but then don’t, is down to Russia essentially signalling to the global south (with whom the west was on a charm offensive for about 5 minutes before the word “restitution” was uttered and threats started flying again) that they know international law, they respect international law and they’re responsible when the law is on their side. In contrast to the US/West being like
>I wrote the law motherfucker, that means I AM the law and I will not be using the implicit power that fact gives me compassionately nor necessarily wiselyWhich, I dunno, people are less hyped about multipolarism now but I guess makes sense if you’re trying to offer the global south reason to not cuck out to western pressure on sanctions and shit.
>>2286903Yeah I know what you mean, but tbh my recollection is that’s the attitude of that kind of internet rightoid that sees Russia as some kind of white christian traditionalist crusaders who will do a better job of governing the third world because they won’t force pride parades in Djibouti or some such nonsense.
I take it more as states like Russia and China essentially asking do you *really* want to tolerate the west with being the world police? If elected to global hegemony, we promise we won’t attack you based on lies but actually you have resources we don’t want to pay for. With China basically covering the economic side of that election promise and Russia inadvertently doing the legal side in Ukraine

There might be some optimism in Lavrov's recent statement that Russia doesn't intend to allow the Zelensky regime to remain in power.
