>Russia's threats, credible or not,
I'm talking about only the threats that aren't credible (see below), like saying "If you do X, we'll do Y" and then failing to follow up with Y when X is done. Since the enemy ruling class does X either way, nothing has been gained by the empty threat.
>I've always thought it's better for Russians to say nothing and do nothing than to deliver threats and do nothing.

>>2286795
I mean, considering some of the strategic choices Ukraine/NATO has made over the last few years, I’ve some doubt there actually are decision centres to hit.

>>2286832
Okay, I doubt the UN would consider it legal despite all laws to the contrary

>>2286833

Alas, I know that this is iteration #68 of the Russian media class and Medvedev types running their mouths about how tough they're gonna be against a new Wunderwaffe escalation, only to focus on the usual overnight strikes on ammo dumps and slag heaps.

>About 50 German Taurus missiles are already in Ukraine. British specialists are currently relabeling the units in Ukrainian Cyrillic to make them appear locally produced. They are expected to be ready for use in less than a month.

im not sure if small nations like estonia are entirely convinced NATO would throw themselves at Russia should they be attacked. remember, article 5 isn't automatic, willing member states have to vote on it. so in that sense the future of NATO is already in question

Not just with Ukraine but in general… it's impressive how Don the Con manages to fool the MAGA base, especially the evangelical base. Useless corporatist neolibs like Obama types get the muh-Antichrist treatment while the literal epitome of every deadly sin doesn't. I gotta respect the hustle.

>>2286860
Yeah I guess, the point is that the law only applies when the UN wants it to apply which essentially means when the west wants it to apply. It’s not necessarily going to avoid escalation towards WW3 anymore than if Russia did it because they just fancied doing it one day and that’s why I expect Russia isn’t actually going to attack Berlin.

Cucked? Yes, tbh. But I’ll have to say I won’t die happy if the west chimps out over Berlin, even despite the legality and just logical reasoning behind the attack.

[CloudFlare nonsense, disregard dup posts]
First, let me clear that Taurus missiles won't do shit for Ukraine. Even the NATOids themselves are dramatically managing expectations and calling them a symbolic instrument lmao.
Second, Putin wouldn't do shit against the Ukrainian military leadership, let alone the Ukrainian political leadership, let alone an abandoned tire yard in Berlin, let alone a military installation in Berlin. He'd send that bald UN dude on a plane… to the US… to the UN HQ (which, note, is in the US, which China and Russia continue to tolerate for some reason)… to wave a stack of papers around.

>>2286867
yes, the west wrote the rules, are always the first to break them, and will be the first to leave them. The global south is not at risk of leaving the UN, it's the other way around, since the west is a minority

You're also right in that Russia will probably not strike Berlin, but the fact that they're threatening to is not the weakness some people here assume

If German missiles do start firing at Moscow, though - regardless of % interception, regardless of damage - gonna be pretty hard for Putin to show his boomer face at another May 9 parade if he continues the passive approach.

they better not wake lenin up

>>2286880
>>2286881
I’ve said it before over the years, but the only reason I can think of for why they keep making the point that they could, legally, do something like strike Berlin or bomb a British weapons factory but then don’t, is down to Russia essentially signalling to the global south (with whom the west was on a charm offensive for about 5 minutes before the word “restitution” was uttered and threats started flying again) that they know international law, they respect international law and they’re responsible when the law is on their side. In contrast to the US/West being like
>I wrote the law motherfucker, that means I AM the law and I will not be using the implicit power that fact gives me compassionately nor necessarily wisely

Which, I dunno, people are less hyped about multipolarism now but I guess makes sense if you’re trying to offer the global south reason to not cuck out to western pressure on sanctions and shit.

>>2286891
you nailed it on the head, that's exactly what's going on

RT has this Irish geezer called Chay Bowes and he occasionally does this US-style late show thing of reading random anti-Russian news articles and tweets to essentially point and laugh at them, kinda meh and not really conducive to anything, the problem is he keeps calling Trump “The big don” which is awkward because that sounds ever so close to The Big Dong and he literally uses the phrase every time to refer to Trump.

Then again, RT did platform Caleb
Maupin so perhaps it is a kink to keep calling him The Big Dong.

>>2286891
Russia has improved significantly with Global South UN voting between 2022 and 2025, but there's always been something that rubs me the wrong way about this idea of Russia "showing the Global South the A's and B's and C's." I know you're not an idpol lib at all, and I'm not even really thinking so much of your benign post but rather the lonngggg elaborations that have appeared over the years on social media, yet it reminds me of some of the well-meaning but condescendingly clumsy antics for which white idpol libs are renowned.

>>2286903
Yeah I know what you mean, but tbh my recollection is that’s the attitude of that kind of internet rightoid that sees Russia as some kind of white christian traditionalist crusaders who will do a better job of governing the third world because they won’t force pride parades in Djibouti or some such nonsense.

I take it more as states like Russia and China essentially asking do you *really* want to tolerate the west with being the world police? If elected to global hegemony, we promise we won’t attack you based on lies but actually you have resources we don’t want to pay for. With China basically covering the economic side of that election promise and Russia inadvertently doing the legal side in Ukraine
