>What's happening now>Fresh barrage of strikes: Iran launched a new wave of missiles toward Israel early Saturday, capping off a night of attacks between the two sides that unleashed multiple explosions and destruction in Tel Aviv and Tehran.
>Escalating conflict: The long-running conflict between Iran and Israel escalated after Israel’s unprecedented attack early Friday on Iranian nuclear and military targets, which killed some of the country’s most senior leaders and raised fears of a wider regional war.
>Casualties on both sides: Three people have been killed in Israel and dozens injured by Iranian strikes, Israeli authorities said. Iran reported at least 78 people killed in Israeli strikes and 320 wounded, mostly civilians.
>More to come: Israel’s defense minister said Saturday that people in Tehran will “pay a heavy price” and the Iranian capital “will burn” if Iran continues with its missile attacks. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed Iranian citizens directly in a video late Friday, urging them to “stand up and let your voices be heard"+++—LIVE UPDATE SOURCE——++++

A complex Qassam ambush in Khan Yunis: Two Israeli vehicles destroyed, resulting in deaths and injuries. The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, carried out a complex ambush on Saturday afternoon targeting Israeli forces and vehicles on a supply line in the Al-Zana area, east of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip.
The ambush resulted in the destruction of two armored personnel carriers with two "Shawaz" bombs and a suicide bomb. Then, the Qassam fighters advanced and killed one of the soldiers at point-blank range.
When an Israeli rescue force arrived, Qassam fighters detonated a pre-prepared minefield, resulting in casualties among its ranks. Military helicopters were seen landing to evacuate the wounded.
Earlier today, Israeli media reported that an Israeli soldier was killed and another seriously injured during clashes in the Gaza Strip, describing the incident as a "difficult security incident."
Israeli media reported that clashes are continuing on more than one front in the Gaza Strip.
This development comes as the Palestinian resistance continues its operations in various areas of the Gaza Strip.

Days ago, the Israeli army acknowledged that four soldiers were injured in two separate incidents during the ongoing fighting in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip. This comes amid a surge in losses incurred by the occupation since it relaunched its war of extermination on March 18.
Since then, the resistance has successfully carried out several ambushes against Israeli occupation forces advancing into the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths and injuries of numerous soldiers.
Iran seeking to restore deterrence
Abas Aslani, a senior research fellow at the Center for Middle East Strategic Studies, says Iran is not only trying to respond to Israel’s military bombardment of the country, but also to establish deterrence.
“Iran believes that it … needs to establish a kind of deterrence against Israel, in order to make it painful [for Israel] … so they can stop further attacks from their side,” Aslani told Al Jazeera from Tehran.
He said the Iranian attacks will likely happen in different stages and could continue for some time.
The country is also trying to strengthen its air defence system to be able to fend off Israeli attacks, Aslani added.
Israelis ‘have no trust’ in government forecast of conflict with Iran
Israeli political commentator Ori Goldberg says even as most Israelis support attacks against Iran, there is a general sense in Israel that “nobody is looking out for” the population.
Israelis are “extremely ambivalent” about what has been happening, Goldberg told Al Jazeera by phone from Israel shortly after the latest Iranian missiles were fired at the country.
“There is mass support, a very broad consensus, that … Israel should go after Iran because Iran wants to destroy Israel – that’s the official narrative,” he explained.
But on the other hand, “Israelis know that [Israeli attacks on Iran are] not capable of destroying the Iranian nuclear programme”, Goldberg said.
“They realise that this isn’t going to instigate regime change. There are already jokes being told about the prime minister and various other Israeli politicians using the strike for their own good.”
Ultimately, he said, “Israelis are preparing to care for themselves as this war continues. They have no trust in the official forecast and evaluation that the government has delivered to Israeli citizens.”

You also severely underestimate the amount it time it takes to restore critical infrastructure.
