Never heard of these uyghas.
Don't really have anything on hand rn or in the language of the enemy.
>how there was no consumerism, everybody trusted their neighbours, people didn't compete with one another to get aheadSomething like this is, however, not the scholarly consensus (obviously, naturally) but the consensus of common people that were alive for some time before 89/90 and then were thrown into capitalist hell. Not with the catastrophic implosion and fall of the UdSSR but a softer landing, yet a lot of people didn't like the development for the reasons mentioned. In conclusion, there will be no conclusion, there will always be competing narratives, yes? And a balanced assessment is an illusion. There will always be "bias". I simply firmy believe we have a "pro-human" bias or the power of "common humanity" on our side.

police used to crack down on it like 15 years ago when torrenting was still relevant and even then it was an exaggerated media scare

>>2443457The book is obviously not a scientific work, it lacks footnotes and graphs and numbers and sources and such. I didn't found any personal anecdotes (what's wrong about anecdotes though?). She doesn't quote jurisdiction. She simply describes her personal experience of everyday life in the GDR from an actual East German citizen's, non-liberal/non-rightoid "dissident's" POV. Which is refreshing to read, because i grew up in the GDR myself and i can verify everything she described through personal experience. Most books i've read about the GDR don't dare to describe it in such a manner in order to not get defamed as backward beton communist who hates "democracy" and was possibly in the Stasi. I only found two minor things i disagreed with in it.
>everybody trusted their neighboursI wouldn't put it that way, but we didn't have to lock the doors. We always felt safe, everywhere. There was virtually no crime. Like none at all.
>people didn't compete with one another to get aheadThere was competition in professional environments, but none in private life. In the west everyone tries to take advantage of others all the time which results in a general hostile climate among people in capitalist society. This is different from life in the GDR, there was this sense of community among people. I don't know how to describe it better, i'm sorry.
>unfalsifiable>falsifiableI hate this. How the fuck is this supposed to be "falsified" in order to meet expectations of western readers? Maybe the book doesn't actually adresses western readers? Maybe it's just something she wanted to get off her chest? Who is supposed to "falsify" it? Perhaps a bunch of liberal "dissidents" who fled from the "horrors" of real existing GDR socialism using a bunch of graphs and numbers provided by experts such as Hubertus Knabe or Ilko-Sascha Kowalczuk?
>>2443597> testimonies of a bigger number of peopleThe ruling bourgeoisie doesn't allow a big number of people voice opinions in favour of AES and the GDR. It's a thought crime, it would make bourgeois gatekeepers really angry. So it generally takes some courage to defend the DDR and AES in public, however if you're a government worker, civil servant or a public figure you can't do it at all else your career ends at this point. As an author or scientist your'e forever on the fringe and you will never make money. For the average pleb some mild nostalgia about DDR sports, culture, food, old technology, music etc. is tolerated, but it must not contain any positive reference to AES without mentioning a dozen times that the DDR was in fact a Stasi hell and totalitarian dictatorship without freeze peach, the economy supposedly didn't work and so on and so forth.
https://www.bpb.de/themen/deutschlandarchiv/203625/mehr-gemeinschaftsgefuehl-und-ein-staerkerer-sozialer-zusammenhalt-erinnerungen-an-die-ddr-als-potenzial-fuer-generationenkonflikte/Here's an article by the BRD government propaganda institution. It concludes that 3rd generation East Germans finally have their own opinions on the GDR and AES, often contrary to opinions and anecdotes of their parents and grand parents. They are basically 100% western now.
It notes also how difficult it was to get East Germans to participate in interviews, in total they managed to get 5 families from different social strata to answer questions.
>it is a good idea to interview families. The following discussion therefore focuses on the results of interviews with families who grew up in the GDR. First of all, it should be summarized that it was very difficult to persuade families to participate in an interview on the topic of the GDR. Many families I asked to be interviewed declined because they were reluctant to talk about their lives in the GDR as part of a scientific study. Ultimately, it was only through the personal mediation of relatives and friends that I managed to persuade five families to interview them. These interviews cannot be generalized, as the families are not representative of all families who grew up in the GDR.Tl;DR
Inside of the capitalist environment it is almost impossible to "falsify" AES history due to the sheer dominance of liberal anti-communist ideology and anti-communist history revisionism. Westerners, zoomers and millenials who did not experience it must decide whether they trust the postive opinion of an eye witness more or the opinion of western experts attempting to "falsify" that opinion.

bin Nichtrubbler.
