Stop fucking a being idealist. FDR did not ally with the USSR because he cared about the fate of the Soviet workers. He allied with them because it was necessary to defeat the Nazis and establish a new imperialist power base in Western Europe, as evidence by the fact that Truman immediately did exactly that and rabidly turned on the Soviets literally the minute the war was over.
Your understanding of history is cartoonish and completely detached from reality. FDR and the Democrats were extremely hostile to the working class. Any international aid they rendered to the USSR was a result of imperialist maneuvering. Any treats they gave to the American proles were an appeasement tactic because in the 1930s the US was in a genuinely revolutionary situation. To the extent that FDR and his ilk are remembered as "progressive" historical actors is just a damnation of the utter failure and betrayal of actual socialists and revolutionaries in the US to seize on a once-in-a-century opportunity to become the vanguard of the working class.
