I would ask why but i guess it's very complicated. so i will ask instead for book or documentary about the relations in syria or the middle east between sunni vs shia, kurds vs arabs etc.

The only way to fight the Al-Qaeda regime in Syria is to fight imperialism
>As a result of an imperialist-backed proxy war, HTS was brought to power in Damascus with the support of Washington and Ankara and now it seeks to consolidate its control of the country by violently suppressing all minorities, including the Kurds.

Things have become sort of quiet now.

SDF still has route 6, the road leading to their only border crossing with the KRG, so volunteers from there can keep coming.

as expected.

Tankies told you that rojava was just a tool for western imperialists to put pressure on Assad and would be discarded as soon as possible. This was as clear as night following day, and yet liberals wanted to go on and on about "supporting" the kurdish ideals, as if they had a real chance to survive and form their own state against Turkey and others without explicit US support. Now the lie has been exposed. This was never about the supposed intentions of the PKK etc, this was about realistic calculation. Turkey and their proxy Jolani have been unleashed against the kurds now that their real purpose has been served and your "support" remains idealistic

You are not merely making critiques, you are making fun of men and women fighting and dying. That makes you human trash, especially as a hypocrite who does not bleed a single drop of blood for anything.

What gives you the right to be such bitches and fags without spilling any blood.

except that isn't what happened. Parts of the Syrian army and government were bribed to betray Assad and the army collapsed like dominoes as soon as HTS attacked. With Syria's army collapsing the foreign allies could not do anything without massive escalation and re-investment in a Syria conflict they were not prepared to make. They "abandoned" Syria after it was already under attack and in a state of terminal military collapse.

>>2657343
>Parts of the Syrian army and government were bribed to betray Assad and the army collapsed like dominoes as soon as HTS attacked
They attacked from Idlib, which was allowed to remain a terrorist stronghold because Russia and Turkey cut a deal that it would be left alone. Russia's backroom dealing ultimately destroyed Ba'athist Syria by providing the terrorists with time and space to rearm and regroup instead of being destroyed.

>>2657326
I didn't buy for a single second the claim that Rojava is communist. Their political theory was pure anti-Marxist nonsense, a facade behind which to hide the Kurdish national cause. No actual communist would participate in dismantling an anti-imperialist state like Syria in the service of the Empire, and that is literally what Rojava did by starving the Syrian goverment of oil revenues.

that isn't "abandonment" you spoke of. It's a mistaken strategy, one of a very long list over the years, with a lot of blame to go around (including much on Assad). An attack from Idlib should have been possible to contain if significant parts of the Syrian army didn't betray Assad. And you can also say SDF "abandoned" themselves by not just destroying all the ISIS terrorists when they had the chance instead of just letting them sit in jails to be freed by Jolani later (now), and even then not destorying them all now before retreating instead of leaving them to be freed and join the killing spree.

>It was also agreed to support Syria and its institutions in any genuine effort to reestablish authority over its territories, impose the rule of law, eliminate the existence of armed groups, and prevent foreign meddling in Syria’s internal affairs. “Foreign intervention” did not appear to refer to Russia, Iran, or Hezbollah. Russian forces, Iranian military, and proxies will most likely not leave Syria soon, if at all. Their interests, influence, and engagement in Syria are so profound that, according to our assessment, their presence in Syria is permanent.

That's all.

saw a conspiracy theory circulating on twitter saying this was all an erdogan proposal to trump. the big plan is trump will drop the kurds, let jolani take over and release all the isis cadres and create a big army to invade iraq, where it will then link up with all the former sunni insurgents in iraq to create an even bigger army, and then lastly use this army to do an hts/syria-style invasion into iran to topple it.
trump allegedly accepted this plan because the colour revolution failed and us strikes are unlikely to work now, so he's buying into a long-game iran plan with erdogan/jolani.
i of course have no idea if this is true but it seems plausible. it's also a very ambitious plan that could flounder anywhere along the way.

>>2657430
they would need to get rid off a huge majority of ethnic groups, like Shias and Kurds. Shias are the larger segment there among Muslims, and I doubt the Kurds will side to be ruled again under Sunni rule. Saddam Hussein was Sunni, and often treated the Kurds worse than Assad ever did.
so the chances are minimal, to 0.

>>2657430
That seems pretty outlandish. I wouldn't think it has any chance of success without direct Turkish involvement. The STG's army is still just a collection of militias at this point, I doubt they could ever conquer and occupy a Shia-majority country like Iraq. Maybe in the future if they manage to rearm, but by then Iran's current crisis may have passed.

>>2657435
>>2657440
western iraq is majority sunni. shias are mainly in the south. the center is mixed but shia run. they wouldn't need to conquer or cross the center or south to get to iran. the point will be to join up with the sunni militans in western and central iraq with the syrians and go from there. the problem will be the kurds in the north though. maybe jolani is doing the trial run for than with the syrian kurds right now. and in the event of the final incursion into iran i would assume that would be accompanied by turk and us air support at minimum.
as i said it's a very ambitious plan that could easily fail at any point along the way, but if the growing jolani forces manage to sweep away the syrian kurds, integrate all the jailed isis fighters, get into western iraq and link up will all the former iraqi insurgents, this could become a very big force that would be hard to handle.

>>2657443
They couldn't expect to just roll through Sunni Iraq unmolested by the Shia's. They PMUs would be all over them long before they got to Iran.

>>2657443
well, the oil is in the southern part of the territory, so that's also a thing that plays against that theory.

>>2657451
yes but iraq/pmu's would also have major problems operating in western iraq and fighting a regrouped isis. They succeeded last time in combination with us support and it wasn't easy then.

small riots, and protests in Kurd-majority populated areas in the UK.

>>2657462
True, but I think an effort of the kind you describe would probably get bogged down in Iraq.

The Arab regions are lost, that's a fact but they can hold on to the Kurdish regions, they also need a cnetralized leadership and have to start working with the Peshmarga and Iraqi kurds

>>2657500
Barzanistan will only help if Zionists orders them

Apologies if it's already been asked, but consider this:
The Kurds were effectively the West's prison guards.
What I mean is, according to rough estimates there are 65,000 wives and children of ISIS fighters - overwhelmingly loyal to the ISIS cause or even more extreme than ever - who were living in camps under Kurdish control.
In addition, there's an estimated 10,000 adult male ISIS supporters, many of which have combat experience, who were kept prisoner by the Kurds.

Now that Rojava is done, that's 75,000 ISIS supporters who have been neutralised for the past decade suddenly released back into the world and hungry for revenge.
What do you think will become of them? What will they do?

>>2657792
These ISIS members are now old and worn down. Unless the government forces them or provides them with resources, they are likely to remain content with the current government. There is not much they can do. The era of al-Qaeda style jihadism ended with them.

It must be awkward being sunni/shia islamist that came to power after the fall of a ba'athist dictatorship and support the ba'athists next door because they share your sect

>>2657882
what are you talking about?

>>2657348
what was the first 3 words of the sentence you half-quoted

>>2657898
Iraqi Islamists being Assad dickriders
Syrian Islamists being Saddam dickriders

>>2657905
Everyone in the Arab world admires Saddam, except Iranians, Kurds, and Shiites. But among Sunni Arabs, everyone from moderates to the most extreme Islamists love him, the hype surrounding Assad wasn't nearly as intense. But who knows, perhaps one of his sons (when he's older and has combat experience) might have a chance to return.

There are fierce clashes in Sirin.
A fierce clash is taking place between the occupying Turkish state, ISIS and HTS gangs, and the SDF and YPJ fighters.

The gangs that have not ceased their violations since the ceasefire was declared are facing resistance from SDF and YPJ fighters.

okay first time, the Kurds renounced the ceasefire again. But after the second ceasefire agreement it's now the Syrians that continue attacking. And the only thing the US cares about is moving the ISIS prisoners from Syria to Iraq?

The Turkish state has amassed military forces on the Kobanê border.
The Turkish state carried out military deployments today on the Kobanê border, where attacks against Rojava continue.

Following military inspections conducted in the morning hours along the Pirsûs-Kobanê border line, howitzers and tanks were deployed to the region. It was also learned that reinforcement troops were sent to the border posts.
As attacks by HTS, ISIS, and Turkish-backed paramilitary groups continue, the deployment is reportedly aimed at increasing security measures in the region.

Southern and Northern Travelers: Rojava is the heart, we cannot live without it.
Thousands of residents of the city of Hasakah in the Cizre canton welcomed young people and activists from Southern and Northern Kurdistan who participated in the general mobilization.

Regarding the issue, mobilizer Hogir Qandil from the city of Sulaymaniyah in Southern Kurdistan said, "He came here to defend Kurdish honor and joined the mobilization. We joined the Rojava resistance to defend the rights of the Kurdish people."
A citizen from Northern Kurdistan who joined the mobilization and arrived in Rojava said that he and his brother joined the mobilization and stated that "This decision is not an emotional one, but a national and moral duty to protect the land. Every Kurd must turn to Rojava, the sacred land. If Rojava falls, Kurdistan also falls. We are not easy."
Another citizen from Sulaymaniyah said, "I came to protect my heart. Rojava is the heart. One cannot live without a heart."
Another citizen from Northern Kurdistan said that the Kurdish people are going through a genocide and said: "We have come to save our people and protect Rojava. Rojava is our first line of defense for all Kurds."

A number of gang members were killed and vehicles were destroyed in Sirin and a village in Çelebi.
According to information obtained from the region, gangs of the interim government and the occupying Turkish state attacked the points and positions of SDF and YPJ fighters in the city of Sirine and a village near Çelebiyê in the rural Euphrates canton.
It was stated that the fighters responded fiercely to the gangs, killing and wounding a number of them, and destroying their armored vehicles.
Despite the ceasefire agreement that came into effect yesterday, the interim government's gangs continue their attacks.

Jeremy Corbyn sends letter to Foreign Secretary Cooper regarding Rojava.
Jeremy Corbyn, one of the founders of Your Party, wrote a letter to British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper regarding the HTS attacks on Rojava, posing a series of questions.
Corbyn stated that he wrote the letter to draw attention to the plight of the Kurdish people in Syria, noting that more than 155,000 civilians have been displaced as a result of ceasefire violations and attacks on Kurdish neighborhoods in Aleppo.

Corbyn stated that the Kurdish people are deeply concerned about what is happening, saying: “The tragedy experienced by the Kurdish people in Syria still receives limited coverage in our media. The recent military advances by Syrian government forces in coordination with Turkey have brought the possibility of civil war back to the forefront and increased the risk of oppression and persecution against minority groups. Human rights organizations have expressed serious concerns about arbitrary arrests, enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, reprisals against civilians, and attacks on civilian infrastructure.”

Highlighting that the Kurdish people have been deprived of their right to self-determination for many years, Corbyn stated, “The Kurds, estimated to number around 40 million, are one of the largest ethnic groups in the world without a recognized state. As you know, I have long supported the right of the Kurds to self-determination, democracy, and freedom. Recognizing the right of the Kurdish people living in Syria, Iraq, Iran, Turkey, and other regions to determine their own future is vital.”

Corbyn posed the following questions to Foreign Secretary Cooper for him to answer:
>*Supporting inclusive negotiations between Syrian authorities and Kurdish representatives aimed at an immediate ceasefire;
<*To demand concrete protections for civilians and minorities, including guarantees against retaliation and forced displacement;
>*To advocate for the constitutional recognition of Kurdish identity, language, and local self-governance;
<*To support independent monitoring mechanisms to oversee ceasefire arrangements and document human rights violations.
Corbyn stated that after more than a decade of war, all Syrians deserve lasting peace, concluding his letter with: “The UK government must do everything in its power to prevent further loss of life, uphold international law and support a peaceful solution based on justice, equality and political inclusion.”

Rojava has made its decision; let the colonial powers think about the rest.
The talks in Damascus have come to an end; the game is over. A new phase has begun. The people of Rojava have begun to write a new history. It will be seen that these things cannot be achieved by wagging fingers from Ankara and imposing surrender in Damascus. Humanity will witness a new resistance against ISIS and its supporters in Rojava.

Up until now, every sacrifice, amounting to a compromise, has been made out of the utmost sensitivity shown to the 'peace process' and its necessity. All avenues for a solution have been explored. The search for compromise and agreement has been exhausted. Despite all the good-faith efforts of the Rojava administration, the negotiations, and the promises made, the solution of the problems through dialogue, negotiation, and democratic methods has been shelved. At the meetings in Damascus on January 19th, attended by international mediators, all previous promises were rejected, and a single point of surrender was imposed. The imposition of surrender in the name of negotiation was, of course, unacceptable. Unfortunately, the process has stalled. The decision to resist is a necessity following these negative and meaningless impositions. We must state a truth that both friend and foe should know: the people of Rojava will never surrender. The decision of the people of Rojava is singular and clear: resistance to the end.

A proper understanding of the developments on the war fronts is necessary. As a result of an unfortunate agreement with international and regional dimensions, detrimental to the Kurds, Rojava has been drawn into a new war. The geographically defined area referred to as 'Northeast Syria' consists of the areas liberated in the fight against ISIS. Withdrawing from these areas, despite unexpected negative consequences, is not a defeat. Integration of these areas was already among the issues on the agenda in the agreement.

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) has no will whatsoever to resolve the Syrian issue or protect the gains of the Rojava Revolution. Rojava's peaceful avenues for resolution, tied to the Imrali talks, have always been blocked by Turkey. Those who believe they can achieve a solution through unconditional surrender, subtle and crude impositions, and faits accomplis inevitably faced a confrontation on the battlefield. At this critical juncture, the current war is a battle that will determine the future of the Kurds.

The war in Rojava has already revealed a high degree of determination. It has demonstrated a will to resist that shatters surrender. Rojava is becoming a center of resistance that reveals the unity of the Kurdish people and brings them to the streets with a spirit of mobilization. The impositions of surrender on Rojava are opening the doors wide to a Greater Kurdistan and national unity. Let the colonialists worry about the rest.

There is a reality of a people who have gained experience and will not be deceived by the psychological warfare tactics of the Turkish state and the Damascus gangs. It will not be easy to break the will of this people, who come from a culture of resistance that defies death with folk dances and celebratory shouts. Let no one doubt that this historic resistance, based on the inherent strength of our people, will surely achieve victory. Even if the world stands against us, a just and honorable struggle for life is being waged in Rojava. This defensive war will continue as long as they do not abandon the impositions that would mean surrender and dishonor to a people who have tasted freedom.

As the Middle East is being reshaped, the resistance that the Kurds will demonstrate, specifically in Rojava, will determine the future and destiny of the Kurdish people. We must never forget that unity and solidarity, without dependence on any external power, without expectations, and without being deceived by psychological propaganda, is our greatest source of strength. Knowing that all the Kurdish people and their friends are invited to this war of honor, we will overcome this ordeal together. `

Al-Qaeda and ISIS have destroyed Rojava and yet the clowns on the ultraleft reddit are laughing about it because apparently they weren't pure enough (YPG fighters waved flags in support of Breton and Corsican independence on one occasion to show international solidarity).
I'm ambivalent on the national question but these people seem to take joy in finding opportunities to disavow any socialist movement if it also calls for a region's culture not to be erased…

Guys.

We should push back against them.
Just the three of anons. Just the three. We should push them back against their lies and attacks. Just three. We can fight back.

Guys. If you are mad about them, we should fight. We should make organized thread to coordinate defense of rojava and taking down anti-rojava and pro-jolani shills.

Rojava should have developed a nuclear weapon program

>Just the three of anons. Just the three. We should push them back against their lies and attacks. Just three. We can fight back.
But anon. I don't care about these people. The revolution and it's gains are in the balance, ethnic cleansing is on the line, i really could not care less about the redditors.

>>2659096
You don't understand. I mean a comprehensive thread to collect materials in defense of Rojava.

So it's biji bijover? well they had a good run, I hope they make Jolani's inbred gangs pay dearly for every square meter they take.

>>2659181
No, HTS is having problems in getting through actual resistance because the collapse of front was in essence tribes switching sides. They are being stalled.

For this reason Turkey might attempt attack on Kobani Afrin-style. But as of now - SDF is holding and disorganized HTS lacks ability to advance on their own ability.

>>2659181
SDF is over. Arabs backstabbed the SDF from mix of oppurtunism, greed, resentment, and even fear of retailiation from HTS.

As of result they are getting slaughtered by Jihadists.

>>2659181
>>2659188
Now HTS JIHADISTS are filming themselves knocking over graves of women fighters(likely arab) in occupied regions. ISIS raised its flag in Raqqa and is planning resurge in style of ISIS-K in Afghanistan.

The situation is volatile and Turkish intervention can destroy Kobani which will martyr the entire city, as entire civilian population is armed.

This is the true war, this is nowhere close to the end. But SDF is no more. Now it is YPG against HTS, while surrendered tribes exist, and ISIS seeking oppurtunity.

would you look at that. they are re-deploying their assets closer to Iran.

Fierce fighting is taking place in southern Kobani
According to information reported by our correspondents from the region, Syrian interim government gangs are fiercely attacking the areas around the cities of Sirin and Çelebiyê, south of Kobanê.
SDF and YPJ fighters are responding fiercely to the attacks.
A serious war is taking place in the region.

Nesrin Abdullah: The Kurdish people have decided to resist in Kobani.
Nesrin Abdullah, commander of the Women's Defense Units (YPJ), held a press conference via Zoom with international press and journalists to assess the latest situation in Kobani. Participating from Kobani, Nesrin Abdullah evaluated the increasing attacks in Kobani and Rojava, the severity of the humanitarian situation, and the risks of potential new interventions.

Nesrin Abdullah, referring to the difficult period the people of Rojava and Kobani are going through, said:
“I am in Kobani. Everyone knows, we are going through a difficult period. Rojava and the Kurdish people are going through a very difficult time. A difficult period is being experienced throughout Syria. These attacks are not only directed at the Kurdish people, but also at the dreams of democracy, justice, and freedom of all the people of Syria. Now we are facing an even more serious situation. A very difficult period is being experienced in Rojava, Cizîr, and Kobani. Afrin and Serêkaniyê are already under Turkish occupation, and the situation there is even worse. In this process, as the Kurdish people, we are under political, military, and moral attacks. These attacks have deeply affected the hope for a common life in Syria. The struggle we have been waging since 2011 has been for a dignified life in Syria where everyone can live, where democracy is established, and where all differences coexist peacefully with their identities, beliefs, and histories. A dirty political game is being played. Our friends are defending our people in every field.”

<A HUMANITARIAN DISASTER COULD OCCUR IN KOBANÊ.

Nesrin Abdullah, reporting that attacks have intensified via Kobanê, said:
“Kobanê is a small geographical area. Geographically, it is isolated from Cizîr. That's why they are attacking it, basing their calculations on this. This city, which is not receiving support, is seen as an opportunity by the enemy and has become a target for attacks. The front is currently in Sirrîn, and the clashes are very intense. The distance between Sirrîn and Kobanê is 30 kilometers. There are many villages along this line. The people, fearing a massacre, have abandoned their villages and taken refuge in the center of Kobanê. This influx will lead to serious humanitarian problems.”

Abdullah stated that the clashes were continuing intensely and that the gang groups were not complying with the ceasefire rules, and shared the following information:

“The situation on the front is this: They are attacking to the death, as if they were waging a conquest, with heavy weapons, all kinds of Turkish weapons and technical support. Thousands of armed gangs have been brought in. These groups, which acted with ISIS at its beginning, are now reappearing with ISIS flags and emblems and attacking us. Those who call themselves 'Syrians' are attacking the Syrian people and the Kurds. Whom and what are they conquering in their own country? They are attacking with all kinds of dirty war tactics and heavy weapons. Their aim is genocide and massacre. It's not just military attacks; they cut off the water, they cut off the electricity. They cut off all the roads in Kobanê. Food supplies are running out. Snowfall is expected. Where and how will the people coming from the villages find shelter? The world public must know the truth under these attacks.”

<THEY ARE SUBJECTING THE KURDISH PEOPLE AND OTHER PEOPLES TO MASSACRE.

Nesrin Abdullah, stating that an international conspiracy is being carried out against Syria and especially the Kurdish people, said:
“They are destroying Syria, they are killing the Syrian reality. If the Kurdish people are defeated here, if the SDF is defeated, Syria will never be Syria again. If the struggle of the Kurdish people is successful, this will be a gain for Syria. Unfortunately, Syrians have realized this, albeit belatedly. If the massacres against the Kurdish people continue, these gangs will open the door to a great catastrophe for Syria. A DAESH state is being established. All the attacks happening today are DAESH attacks. These are attacks against humanity. DAESH methods have been made even more systematic, only their name has been changed to 'Free Syrian Army'. So where are human rights, human dignity and conscience? What is clear is this: They want to create a modern DAESH.”

“In 2014, we started the resistance in Kobani for the freedom of Syria and humanity. Thousands of people sought refuge here. Even amidst great hardship, our people shared everything with all the people who came from outside. We took care of all Syrians. We not only defeated ISIS, but we also built a new life. This life encompassed everyone. Today, there are also many Arab peoples who oppose this barbarity and do not accept it. However, some Arab tribes became complicit in these attacks and became enemies of our administration. Here, not only Kurds but also Armenians, Circassians, Arabs, and Syriacs are facing massacres. They are under a massive attack.”

<WE PAID A PRICE TO PREVENT CIVILIAN MASSACRES.

“As human beings, when we look at the images of the attacks, it’s hard to believe. They are beheading our female fighters. What kind of humanity is this? How can cutting off a female fighter’s braid and presenting it as an achievement be considered a success? How can we define this barbarity? We withdrew from many places to prevent massacres. We retreated from many places to prevent civilians from being killed. Our comrades were taken prisoner to prevent civilians from being killed. We are not like them. We could have resisted as a self-sacrificing force, but there would have been massive massacres. Because our force does not attack civilians, it protects them.”

<OUR PEOPLE HAVE DECIDED TO RESIST.

“But today, Kobani, together with our people, is our red line. We are defending this place and we will never compromise. Some states are praising and inciting this barbarity. We need to ask what they are defending: massacre or barbarism? What is the point of a geography if it is not governed with humanity and conscience? Immoral attacks are being carried out here today. Our female fighters have been taken captive and are being marketed with videos. Could there be anything more immoral than this? We are defending humanity against this mentality. We are stating this clearly: Honor is not in our hair or braids; it is in our minds, our consciences, and our resistance. Our resistance is a resistance of honor.”

“Today, negotiations are taking place over the dignity and natural rights of the Kurdish people. We are not involved in any of these negotiations. They tell us to ‘surrender.’ To whom should we surrender? To our own murderers? A ceasefire was declared, but these gangs are not complying. Kobani is still under heavy attack. We will not surrender. Our people will not surrender and have decided to resist. Our people, from young to old, are determined to defend themselves. How can we surrender to those who murder us, who do not recognize our humanity? How can we integrate with those who sell our women in markets? What is the guarantee of this? What is the assurance that the promises made today will not be denied tomorrow? We are ready for any dialogue and negotiation for peace, based on real guarantees. However, we will defend our people to the end.”

<PREPARATIONS ARE BEING MADE FOR AN ISIS STATE.

“The Syrian army is raising ISIS flags in every area it enters and releasing videos of this. In fact, a modern ISIS structure is being prepared. This is dangerous not only for Syria, but for the entire region and the world. These beheadings and massacres will happen all over the world. Everyone must know what we are fighting against. States are supporting this. My appeal is to the world public, especially women.”

Nesrin Abdullah then answered questions from journalists participating in the Zoom meeting. Responding to a journalist's question about the attacks on Kobanê, she said:
“The Turkish state has provided the gangs with technical and heavy weapons. There are ISIS connections within the forces besieging Kobanê. There are groups like Sultan Murat, Hamza, and Emşat, as well as some tribal structures. The weapons of these groups belong to the Turkish state. They want to cripple Kobanê militarily and humanely. Our comrades are being martyred in the Turkish state's drone attacks. Two days ago, six of our comrades were martyred in drone attacks. Kobanê is being targeted not only militarily, but also humanely and in terms of living conditions. With the seizure of the dam, water and electricity have been cut off. The city is under a complete embargo. Hospitals will be without electricity. The risk of an epidemic is increasing due to the lack of water, and fuel and food stocks are running out. There is snowfall; civilians lack shelter and heating.”

Responding to a question about the ceasefire, Nesrin Abdullah said:
“The attacks continue. Surrender is being imposed. Calls for dialogue and a solution are being ignored. There is no credibility whatsoever without an end to the attacks on Rojava and a withdrawal from the occupied areas. The targeting of the SDF should not be seen as an attack only against the Kurdish people; it is an attack against all the peoples of Syria. Alawites and Druze are being targeted; now the Kurdish people, Armenians, Syriacs, and Arabs are also targets. The defeat of the SDF means the collapse of Syria.”

<TENS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WERE MASSACRED IN KOBANÊ DURING THE ATTACK BY THE TURKISH STATE.

Nesrin Abdullah, also commenting on Turkey's military movements towards the Kobani border, stated that they had received information indicating that Turkey was preparing for direct intervention, saying:
“Armored vehicles and soldiers have been deployed along the Suruç line. There are images of this. These developments show that the Kobani circle is being expanded and that Turkey is preparing to enter the war by air and land. We appeal to the international community: In such a situation, tens of thousands of people will be massacred. The consequences of such an intervention would be a humanitarian catastrophe.”

Nesrin Abdullah stated that the US and international powers have the power to stop these attacks, but their silence means they condone them.

Speaking about the attacks by Arab tribes, Nesrin Abdullah stated that while there are Arab tribes that stand in solidarity with the SDF and the Kurdish people, those who switched sides are more racist and prefer Arab dominance. She said:
“Some tribes have consciously switched sides against us, aligning themselves with HTS and other groups as a result of racist and provocative policies. They are acting with Turkish-backed groups. Yet, they sacrificed hundreds of martyrs alongside the SDF. I respect the memory of those martyrs. The Autonomous Administration has worked hard to dismantle this racist attack and preference. However, some have still succumbed to racism.”

Nesrin Abdullah also commented on the SDF forces protecting the prison in Raqqa where ISIS prisoners are held, saying:
“We have a significant force there. Our units protecting the prison are under attack with heavy weapons. Those carrying out the attack are already demanding that we hand over the ISIS members, saying 'they are our friends.' We have all their files and all the information. It is certain that they are ISIS members. The reason they want them is also clear. Negotiations with the international coalition are ongoing.”
KCDK-E called on Kurds to create a global resistance network.
In a written statement, KCDK-E stated that "the only way to win against the European Union, which remains silent in the face of the attacks, is to create a global resistance network with the peoples of the world."

The statement reads: “The honorable Kurdish people, the millions who took to the streets for their land, history, and future, the heroic women who are symbols of the struggle for freedom, the youth who did not leave the streets and did not bow down, the mothers who stood tall against oppression, violence, and massacre, the elderly with canes in their hands in the squares, our children who are our beacon of hope, are continuing the resistance to claim Rojava and our honor, Kobanê.”

International powers, driven by capitalist ambitions and vested interests, have joined forces with barbaric gangs and the genocidal Turkish state to launch a war against the Kurdish people. The hypocritical, deceitful, and murderous Turkish state seeks to perpetrate genocide. The barbaric gang groups carrying out these massacres against the Kurdish people, their affiliates, and the regional and international powers that watch, remain silent, and support this war, have mobilized to stifle the Rojava revolution and are determined to achieve their goal.

The masks of international powers have fallen. They have rolled up their sleeves to revive a second Treaty of Lausanne. The US, UK, and France want to redraw the maps of the Middle East through occupation and annexation to seize its underground and above-ground riches. Therefore, a massive attack is underway against the Kurdish people with the aim of genocide.

<THE KURDISH PEOPLE AND THEIR FRIENDS ARE UP IN ARMS.

The Kurdish people have shown through their resistance that they are not sacrificial lambs. Millions from all over the world have filled the streets from the very first day. The streets are not being abandoned; the resistance continues with the slogan, "We will win through resistance, Rojava is our honor, we will protect our honor."

On one side stands a front led by international powers, barbaric gangs, and the genocidal Turkish state, and on the other, a great resistance front in which peoples have risen up globally. This is a land where the blood of tens of thousands of heroes has been shed. Millions from all four parts of Kurdistan have become one body, a fist, around Rojava.

<THOSE WHO COMMITTED TORTURE WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS.

The barbaric gangs that cut the hair of Kurdish women and rape them fear the women's liberation struggle. They want to take revenge for the defeat they suffered 12 years ago. Kurdish women are honorable, courageous, and their resistance is great, and they will exact revenge for these inhumane tortures many times over.

Let the barbaric Colani, the USA, the UK, France, and the genocidal Turkish state know that this struggle, costing millions, will cast you into the dustbin of history with a global resistance. The anti-Kurdish journalists, media, and dirty war apparatuses whose dirty war propaganda you wage against our people will bury you in the darkness you deserve.

<LET'S MOBILIZE FOR A GLOBAL RESISTANCE NETWORK.

The only way for the honorable struggle of the Kurdish people to win against the barbaric al-Golani, the USA, Britain, France, the genocidal Turkish state, and the silent European Union is to create a global resistance network with the peoples of the world. Let us go door to door wherever we are, calling on people to unite against these enemy gangs. Let us remind them that the resistance of the Kurdish people around Rojava is also their future. Let us explain that the genocide being attempted against the Kurdish people today is not a distant possibility that it will be carried out against them tomorrow. Let us involve people from all over the world in the resistance in the streets, let millions form a resistance front.

As KCDK-E, we reiterate our call: we are not leaving the streets; every day, every hour, we continue to expand the resistance line around Rojava, growing exponentially. We are carrying the resistance to all continents to elevate the struggle to a global level. We continue to stand in the streets and action areas, day and night.

Let's fill the squares to capacity, mobilizing all institutions, organizations, components, friends, and neighbors to participate in the global actions that will take place around the world on January 24th.”

>Venezuela’s Delcy Rodríguez assured US of cooperation before Maduro’s capture

>Exclusive: sources say powerful figures in the regime secretly told US and Qatari officials they would welcome Maduro’s departure

Before the US military snatched Venezuela’s president, Nicolás Maduro, earlier this month, Delcy Rodríguez and her powerful brother pledged to cooperate with the Trump administration once the strongman was gone, four sources involved at high levels with the discussions told the Guardian.

Rodríguez, who was sworn in on 5 January as acting president to replace Maduro, and her brother Jorge, the head of the national assembly, secretly assured US and Qatari officials through intermediaries ahead of time that they would welcome Maduro’s departure, according to the sources.

The communications between US officials from Delcy Rodríguez, who was then Maduro’s vice-president, began in the fall and continued after Trump and Maduro spoke in a crucial phone call in late November, the Guardian has learned, in which Trump insisted that Maduro leave Venezuela. Maduro rejected the demand.

By December, one American who was involved told the Guardian that Delcy Rodríguez told the US government she was ready: “Delcy was communicating ‘Maduro needs to go.’

“She said, ‘I’ll work with whatever is the aftermath,’” another person familiar with the messages said.

The sources say Marco Rubio, Trump’s secretary of state and national security adviser, at first a skeptic about working with regime elements, came to believe that Delcy Rodríguez’s promises were the best way to prevent chaos once Maduro was gone.

The pledge of cooperation by Delcy and Jorge Rodríguez before the Maduro raid has not been previously reported. In October, the Miami Herald reported on abortive negotiations via Qatar, in which Delcy offered to act as a transitional government chief if Maduro stepped down.

Reuters reported on Sunday that Diosdado Cabello, the powerful Venezuela interior minister, who controls police and security forces, had also been in discussions with the US at a point months before the Maduro operation.

All the sources say there was a fine distinction to the agreement by Delcy Rodríguez: while the Rodríguez family promised to assist the US once Maduro was gone, they did not agree to actively help the US to topple him. The sources insist this was not a coup engineered against Maduro by the Rodríguez siblings.

Hours after the raid, Trump appeared to confirm the talks. He told the New York Post that Delcy Rodríguez was onboard. “We’ve spoken to her numerous times, and she understands, she understands.”

The Venezuelan government did not respond to emailed questions concerning this story. The White House did not respond to detailed questions.

There were many official talks between Trump officials and the Maduro-led Venezuelan government happening on top of the backchannel conversations.

Maduro himself met with Ric Grenell, a top Trump aide, just 10 days after Trump’s inauguration, to discuss US prisoners, who were quickly released.

Key Trump aides continued official talks with Jorge and Delcy Rodríguez quite often, to coordinate, for example, the bi-weekly flights of Venezuelans deported from the US, according to two sources familiar with the talks. There was a barrage of issues that had to be solved: where the deportation flights would land, the status of Venezuelans imprisoned in El Salvador and political prisoners that could be released.

Meanwhile Delcy Rodríguez retained very close personal ties with Qatar, where members of the ruling family considered her a friend, according to sources familiar with their relationship. Qatar, a key ally of the US, donated a $400m luxury jet for Trump’s use in an unprecedented gift from a foreign country to a president. It used the good will it had in Trump’s White House to open more doors for Rodríguez in secret negotiations, two of the sources said.

As the Miami Herald reported in October, Rodríguez tried to propose a transition government, led by her, that would rule Venezuela if Maduro agreed to a prearranged retirement in a presumed safe-haven. The plan fell through, and Rodríguez fiercely denounced the story, but key Americans began to think she was far from a two-dimensional dogmatic leader.

Those who know her describe a figure with disarming quirks that help her form bonds easily. She drinks champagne, has a private ping-pong coach and a tendency to challenge foreign dignitaries to games.

By October, sources say, in secret, even the Americans who were most aggressive against Maduro were open to working with her.

One factor was her promise to work with American oil, and her acquaintance with Americans in the oil business. “Delcy is the most committed to working with US oil,” an ally of hers said.

The sources said Mauricio Claver-Carone, a former Trump special envoy for Latin America who still had the ear of Marco Rubio despite being out of government, was one key backer.
The main goal for the US was stability once Maduro was out, given the predictions of civil war and chaos. Another of the sources said “the biggest thing was trying to avoid a failed state”.

It wasn’t until late fall that Delcy Rodríguez and her brother actually engaged in discussions with the US behind Maduro’s back.

Maduro spoke to Trump on the phone in November, and by the next week it was clear Maduro would not leave.

For Delcy Rodríguez it was a delicate dance. At the same time they made the offer, the sources say she did not agree to actively betray Maduro. “She feared him,” said one official familiar with the events.

When the US attack helicopters flew into Caracas in early January, Delcy Rodríguez was nowhere to be found. Rumors spread that she had fled to Moscow, but two sources say she was on Margarita Island, a Venezuelan vacation spot.

In the villages, cities and towns of the cantons of Cizre, residents are mobilized, providing protection with military and security forces.
Residents, alongside military, security, and Social Protection Forces, patrol the main and secondary streets at night, maintaining the security and stability of the region.
The guards stated that the purpose of these patrols is to protect neighborhoods and residents and monitor suspicious movements or possible threats from interim government gangs and ISIS gang cells

KCDK-E warns: 'Don't give in to provocations'
KCDK-E issued a statement regarding the mass demonstrations held in Europe against the attacks by ISIS and HTS gangs on Rojava. The organization called on the public not to succumb to provocations and to maintain a resolute stance during the demonstrations.

The explanation is as follows:
“Our people, together with their friends all over the world, are continuing their resistance in the streets against the genocidal forces that want to stifle the Rojava Revolution. This line of resistance has given strength and morale to Rojava. If this unwavering and resolute stance is maintained, it will be possible to achieve results. Therefore, no provocation aimed at disrupting the fundamental goal of the resistance and changing its direction should be allowed among the millions who have filled the streets.”

We will demonstrate our resistance with the strength of millions united and with the righteousness of our cause. This is how we can ensure that people join us and support our just struggle. Because we are right, and we will win.

Therefore, we call upon our patriotic people, our friends, and all concerned individuals to be vigilant against methods that could create provocation in actions and events, and to demonstrate the strength of our honorable struggle.”

How Regime Change In Iran Is The Final Phase Of The 'Clean Break' Strategy.

https://the307.substack.com/p/how-regime-change-in-iran-is-the

>Lindsey Graham, the Neo-con Republican Senator, at the Zionist Tzedek conference, gave the real reason for America’s policy of regime change in Iran, namely to isolate the Palestinians in the Middle East and pave the way for Israeli domination.

>Graham, referring to regime change in Iran said, “If we can pull this off, it would be the biggest change in the Middle East in a thousand years: Hamas, Hezbollah gone, the Houthis gone, the Iranian people an ally not an enemy, the Arab world moving towards Israel without fear, Saudi-Israel normalize, no more October the 7th”.

>In other words, Lindsey Graham and the U.S. believe that regime change in Iran would lead to the collapse of Palestinian resistance and allied groups Hezbollah and Ansar Allah and lead Middle Eastern powers to normalize with Israel without any concessions to Palestinians, thus paving the way for the ethnic cleansing of Gaza and the West Bank, and further expansion into Syria and Lebanon in service of the Greater Israel project.

>This motive is not only driving the desire for regime change in Iran, but has been the main motive for U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East since 9/11, not fighting a “war on terror”.

>In 1996, key figures who ended up in high level positions in the Bush administration, such as Richard Perle, Douglas Feith and David Wurmser, who were at the time advising the newly elected Benjamin Netanyahu, sent him a letter titled, “A Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm”, which called on him to make a “clean break” from peace talks with Palestinians and instead focus on isolating them in the region, first a for-most by, “removing Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq — an important Israeli strategic objective in its own right”.

>Netanyahu kept to his word and made his “Clean Break” from the Oslo Accords during his first term as Prime Minister, later boasting:

<how he forced former U.S. Secretary of State Warren Christopher to agree to let Israel alone determine which parts of the West Bank were to be defined as military zones. ‘They didn’t want to give me that letter,’ Netanyahu said, ‘so I didn’t give them the Hebron agreement [the agreement giving Hebron back to the Palestinians]. I cut the cabinet meeting short and said, ‘I’m not signing.’ Only when the letter came, during that meeting, to me and to Arafat, did I ratify the Hebron agreement. Why is this important? Because from that moment on, I de facto put an end to the Oslo accords.”

Soon after, the authors of the clean break document became key advisors on the Middle East in the George W. Bush administration.

>After 9/11, they used the attack to carry out the “important Israeli strategic objective” of “removing Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq”, who was seen as too sympathetic to Palestinians.

>As David Wurmser, one of the authors of the clean break document and the Middle East Adviser to former US Vice President Dick Cheney, later admitted , “In terms of Israel, we wanted Yasser Arafat not to have the cavalry over the horizon in terms of Saddam”.

>George W. Bush aide, Philip Zelikow said , “the real threat (from Iraq) (is) the threat against Israel”, “this is the threat that dare not speak its name, because the Europeans don’t care deeply about that threat”, “the American government doesn’t want to lean too hard on it rhetorically, because it is not a popular sell”.

>But for Israel and the Bush administration, the war in Iraq was just the first phase of the “clean break strategy”, to take out all of Israel’s enemies in the Middle East.

>As the U.S. General Wesley Clark revealed the clean break went from a plan to take out Saddam Hussein in Iraq to a plan to “take out seven countries in five years, starting with Iraq, and then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and, finishing off, Iran”.

>(Emphasis:Mine)

>As Clark later explained on the Piers Morgan show, the list came from a study which was “paid for by the Israelis” and said, “if you want to protect Israel, and you want Israel to succeed… you’ve got to get rid of the states that are surrounding”.

>With every other country on the hit list either weakened (Lebanon, Somalia, Sudan) or taken out (Iraq, Libya, Syria) from the ensuing years of U.S. and Israeli intervention, Neo-cons and Zionists see Iran as the last bulwark in the way of carrying out the Clean Break plan.

Kurds in Russia show solidarity with Rojava against brutal attacks

Co-chair of the Platinovk Council Tahir Newroz made a statement, stating that they support the Rojava resistance and condemn the attacks on the region..
Tahir Newroz emphasized that Rojava will be protected through the solidarity and resistance of the Kurdish people and said, "These attacks on the people of Rojava Kurdistan are not only against Rojava. They are also an attack on the achievements of the Kurdish people. Furthermore, the completion of these attacks in February is the continuation of the conspiracy that has been carried out against the Kurdish people for a hundred years, and today it has revealed its conspiratorial face. For this reason, we, as the Kurdish people in Russia, support our people in Rojava Kurdistan in every way and say that we will win with the resistance of the Kurdish people and their fighters.""
The statement ended with the slogans "Long live the resistance of Rojava", "Long live the resistance of the YPG and YPJ", "Long live Leader Apo" and "Long live the Kurds and Kurdistan"..

YPG Martyr Berxwedan Battalion was established.
In the city of Hesekê, located in the Cizirê Canton, the people's will for self-defense is strengthening in the face of the recent increase in attacks. In the Mifti neighborhood of the city, the YPG Martyr Berxwedan Battalion was declared by young people.

In the region, as of January 2026, following the general mobilization call of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, numerous self-defense groups and battalions began to be formed, led by the local population and youth. Within this context, the youth and people of Mifti and Salihiyê neighborhoods announced that they would arm themselves and take up positions to protect their neighborhoods and the city of Hasakah in general.

Announcing the formation of the battalion, a citizen named Farıs stated: “As the youth of Mifti and Salihiye neighborhoods, we are taking up arms. We will stand in the trenches to protect our lands. No one can cross into the city of Hesekê. This trench is the trench of all four parts of Kurdistan. No one can occupy these lands until the last drop of our blood. We are the Kurdish youth, we are the YPG.”

The statement noted that the purpose of the newly formed battalion was to contribute to the defense of the neighborhood and city against possible attacks, and that they were exercising their right to self-defense while drawing attention to the security risks in the region.

In their statement, the youth emphasized that the resistance was not limited to local defense but extended to all parts of Kurdistan, saying, "Today we salute the people of Kurdistan who are ready to stand with us, crossing borders. We salute our people who have been on their feet and have not slept for days, from Europe to Kurdistan."

Following the announcement, the crowd gathered in the area chanted "Beji Berxwedana Kobanê" (Long live the resistance of Kobanê) and began dancing the traditional Kurdish dance (halay). The event showcased scenes reflecting the high morale and determination of the people.

Young people participating in the mobilization: We will not return until Rojava is liberated.
A group of young people from Southern Kurdistan who came to defend Rojava said, "Either we will liberate Rojava here, or we will not return. We have come to sacrifice ourselves."

As the attacks by ISIS-HTS gangs and gangs affiliated with the occupying Turkish state against Rojava Kurdistan continue, participation in the general mobilization from all corners of Kurdistan against this continues to increase.

A group of young people from Southern Kurdistan, who came to defend Rojava as part of the general mobilization, stated that they came to defend Rojava, saying, “We call on all young people in Southern, Northern, and Eastern Kurdistan to defend Rojava. While the ISIS gangs in Damascus are cutting the hair of Kurdish women and boasting about it, every Kurdish young man, woman, and man who has honor should come here and defend Rojava. They should resist here.”

The youth, emphasizing that the destruction of Rojava would lead to the destruction of all other parts of Kurdistan, stated, “Rojava is Kurdistan. We have come and taken up arms; we will either liberate Rojava or we will not return from here. We thank everyone working for Rojava. We have come here to die for Rojava.”

Young people from Sinjar protest for Rojava.
The people of Sinjar continue their actions day and night to support the Rojava resistance. In this context, a mass demonstration was organized at night in the town of Digur, affiliated with Sinjar, led by Yazidi youth.

Young people from different villages and regions of Shengal gathered on the main road leading to Digure. As they marched through the town's streets, they frequently chanted slogans such as "Bijî Berxwedana Rojava" (Long live the resistance of Rojava) and "Shengal û Rojava yek e" (Shengal and Rojava are one).

Following the march, the young people went to the Digur People's Assembly building. There, a fire was lit as a symbol of resistance. The young people, who stayed around the fire until late at night, sent their allegiance to the people of Rojava with revolutionary songs and slogans of loyalty.

The youth emphasized that they will remain in the streets and continue to support the Rojava Revolution as long as the attacks on Rojava continue and victory is not achieved.

'We are persistent in resistance and success'
The residents stated that their visit to Hasakah was to support the fighters on the front lines and boost their morale. They also stated that their goal was to support the general mobilization and strengthen the people's solidarity in the face of threats to regional security.

Abdulhamid Mihemed Latif from Qamishli said: "We are on the move. We are going to Hasakah to support their resistance. We will be alongside our fighters on the front lines. There are conspiracies against our existence. But as the Kurdish people, we will stand up for our cause and defend our land until the end."

Nadira Ibrahim, a refugee from Serêkaniyê, stated that she was going to Hesekê to support the fighters and added: "We are with our forces and Kurdish unity. We will support our forces until the end."

Lawyer Mihemed El Neimi stated that the convoy went to Hasakah to support YPJ, YPJ and SDF fighters and civilians, and said: "The mobilization has been announced against the excesses in Rojava and to stop the genocides."

Al-Naimi continued: "We are all, young and old, ready to stop the massacres. We have strength and dignity. We will defend ourselves. We are determined to resist and succeed."

<The sun sets on the Syrian Kurdish rebellion

>Syrian armed groups loyal to President Ahmad al-Sharaa broke the resistance of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the largely Kurdish group, but this advance can only be understood by the total backing given by the United States to the Syrian government.

>The agreement that terminated the Syrian Kurdish enclave was presented by its signatories as a pragmatic settlement. But, in fact, the deal is a major political defeat for the Syrian Kurdish political formations. Certainly, the rapid advance of the Syrian armed groups loyal to President Ahmad al-Sharaa broke the resistance of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the largely Kurdish group, but this advance can only be understood by the total backing given by the United States to the Syrian government against the SDF. The SDF was outgunned and had no air support, which is what they had benefitted from in their war against the Islamic State. The SDF’s Mazlum Abdi signed the effective surrender on behalf of his party and their army. US Ambassador Tom Barrack’s tweet (despite its hyperbole) suggested the end of the Syrian Kurdish experiment called Rojava (the Kurdish word for where the sun sets, or the western part of the Kurdish lands.

>The deal formalized what months of military pressure had already made clear. Syrian state institutions returned to the northeast not as partners but as authorities keen on a strong central state loyal to al-Sharaa. Over the course of the past year, border crossings that had been in the hands of various groups returned to central government control and oil revenues began to be collected for Damascus. The Syrian Democratic Forces, one of the last remaining independent military challenges to al-Sharaa after the rout of the Syrian Arab Army, agreed to be subordinated to the military’s central command but did not want its units dismantled; in other words, the SDF wanted to retain its own structures within the Syrian armed forces. This was the agreement that Abdi and others in the Kurdish leadership, such as Ilham Ahmed (former co-chair of the SDF), favored, but they were outflanked by sections of the Syrian Kurdish leadership that did not want to lose the autonomy of the Kurdish enclave. But now Kurdish political offices have begun to close, flags are being removed, and the language of autonomy has been erased from official documents.

>Al-Sharaa came to the presidency of Syria through his politicization in al-Qaeda’s Syrian fronts. While he has left behind his turban for a suit, there are indications that his own followers are comfortable with the ideology of and links with al-Qaeda and the Islamic State and that they welcome an alliance with both the United States and Israel. In the days leading up to this ceasefire and deal, SDF officials reported that the Syrian armed forces focused their attention on the prisons that held Islamic State fighters who had been captured by the SDF; heavy fighting had indeed been reported near Shaddadi prison (Hasaka) and al-Aqtan prison (Raqqa). These attacks, the SDF said, were a “highly dangerous development” since they suggested that the government forces wanted to free the Islamic State fighters from the prisons and put them back on the battlefield against groups such as the SDF. Now the state has control over these prisons and could do what it wants with these prisoners.

<The dawn of Rojava

>In 2012, the government of Bashar al-Assad withdrew its military from the northeast so that it could defend the southwest from a cycle of rebellions. This withdrawal provided an opportunity for the Syrian Kurds, who had been fighting for either an independent Kurdistan or autonomy within Syria for decades. The leader of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) Salih Muslim told me in 2013 that the Kurdish political and military forces filled a vacuum. “We organized our society so that chaos would not prevail.” The PYD’s Muslim made three points: Syria must remain united, Syria must belong to all those who live in it, and Syria must be decentralized. The government in Damascus accepted these three points and a tacit understanding was reached between the Syrian Kurdish political forces, other minorities in Syria, and al-Assad’s government. This was the opportunity that allowed for the birth of Rojava.

>Over the decade since 2012, the Rojava enclave came under serious attack by the Islamic State (in 2014-15) and the Turkish armed forces (2018) as well as sustained attacks by various smaller groups. In this decade, the army of the SDF, the People’s Defense Units (YPG), the Kurdish Peshmerga (from Iraq), and the armed forces of the Kurdish Workers’ Party (PKK from Turkey) defended this enclave, most dramatically from the advance of the Islamic State. When the Islamic State took Sinjar and began to ethnically cleanse the area of Yazidis in August 2014, it was the YPG and its allies that began a long siege of the area that was only won by them in November 2015 at a great cost. US air support began to assist the YPG and the SDF in their quest to defeat the Islamic State and to exist as an independent enclave from Damascus. Neither Salih Muslim nor other leaders of the Syrian Kurdish groups pinned their faith wholeheartedly on the United States, although the balance of forces set in motion an alliance that was always going to lead to betrayal.

>Statements from Salih Muslim and Mazlum Abdi that silence about the Turkish invasion of Afrin in 2018 would “cost Syria its unity” or that the YPG was the only “barrier against Turkish occupation” did not count for much. Assad was not going to enrage the Turkish government at this time (in fact, it was in this period that Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan signed a deal to demilitarize Idlib and allow the al-Qaeda inheritors, including al-Sharaa’s Hay’at Tahrir al’Sham or HTS to build their strength in peace and wait a turn of fortunes). Perhaps if Assad were a better chess player, he would have provoked Turkey by defending the Syrian Kurds, thereby preventing a deal and forcing his Russian allies to provide air support while the Syrian Arab Army entered Idlib to fight the remainder of the HTS and its allies. But Assad began to allow the Russians to do his strategic thinking and therefore conceded a point of strength in the hope that the Turkish government would cease its attempt to overthrow his government.

>Turkey’s Erdoğan refused to see the Syrian Kurdish rebellion as anything other than an extension of the fight of the Turkish PKK. In 2020, he told his party cadre at a meeting, “Turkey will never allow the establishment of a terror state right beside its borders. We will do whatever is necessary and drain this swamp of terrorism.” This should have been clear to both Assad and the Syrian Kurds that there was going to be no support from Turkey and no end to the attempt at destabilization by Turkey’s NATO partner, the United States. Over the past five years, Erdoğan leaned on the political leadership of the PKK to withdraw its rebellion and to effectively capitulate. In 2025, from his Turkish cell, PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan announced “the end of the method of armed struggle”. The Syrian Kurdish project, linked with the PKK, lost its broader strategic depth. Pressure mounted from the Turkish side for the Syrian Kurds to end their project of “armed autonomy”, as Turkish officials said. Turkish military pressure continued with reduced international condemnation or even consideration and diminished Kurdish legitimacy.

>The mysterious role of Israel in this entire fiasco has yet to be properly written.

<The fall of Assad

>With the full weight of Israeli and US air strikes, the forces of Hay’at Tahrir al’Sham led by Ahmad al-Sharaa dashed into Damascus. This victory marked a decisive rupture for the Syrian Kurds. Al-Sharaa, the new president, said that his government would reclaim the northern lands (but he said nothing about Israel’s occupation of the Golan Heights and nothing about the hundreds of square kilometres of the UN buffer zone seized by Israel after al-Sharaa took Damascus). Statements coming from Damascus sent a warning to the Kurds, although the Kurdish leadership hoped against any logic that the United States would protect them (in December 2024, Abdi said that the Syrian Kurds were in ‘continuous communication with our American friends, who support our efforts to stop the escalation and guarantee the rights of all Syrian components, including the rights of the Kurds within the framework of a unified state’). The United States began a withdrawal, and the Syrian Kurds began to voice their hopelessness. One SDF official told me that their forces had fought ISIS and had taken huge casualties but now were, in her words, ”nothing at all”. Syrian forces flooded the north. “Syria does not need experiments imposed by force,” said al-Sharaa. Rojava was in his crosshairs. It did not take long to finish the job. “We are determined to protect the achievements of the revolution,” said Abdi, but this seems more like wishful thinking.

>The example of Syria has sent a cold breeze across the border to the Kurdish autonomous region in northern Iraq. Iraqi leader Muqtada al-Sadr posted a message on X with a warning that what happened in Syria “should not be taken naïvely”. “The danger is imminent”, he wrote, “and terrorism is supported by global arrogance”. With the change of strategy of the Turkish PKK and the defeat of the Syrian Kurds, any faith in Irbil (Iraq) that the Kurdish autonomous region is eternal will now fade. Al-Sadr suggested unity in the face of external aggression. It is a suggestion that would be hard to reject in these times.

>The collapse of Rojava was not merely the failure of a local revolt to be sustained. It was the defeat of a political wager: that decentralization and armed self-defense could rely upon the support of the United States. The language of democracy and dignity might have appealed to an occasional US diplomat, but it meant nothing in Washington. “We built Rojava on a swamp,” said a Syrian Kurdish official to me a few hours after the deal.

SDF dismisses fighter over photo with dead combatants
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Saturday that it had dismissed one of its fighters and referred him to a military court after he photographed himself alongside armed individuals killed during recent clashes south of Kobane, stressing that the act was “individual and unacceptable.”

In an official clarification on Saturday, the SDF said its leadership was following reports about “one of our fighters photographing himself alongside armed individuals who were killed during the repulsion of an attack carried out by Damascus-affiliated factions on the village of Kharous, south of Kobane.”

“In line with our commitment to military and ethical values, the fighter in question was immediately dismissed from the ranks of the forces and referred to the military court to take the necessary legal measures,” the statement added.

The SDF emphasized that the incident does not reflect its institutional conduct, affirming that the act "is individual and unacceptable, and does not reflect the principles of our forces, which are known for their respect for humanitarian standards and codes of conduct, including respect for the dignity of the dead.”

It reaffirmed its “continued commitment to carrying out our duties in accordance with the values by which we are known.”

What's interesting IMHO in these vids/pics is that they are i think American Vehicles, assumedly, with american weapons on top.
The USA has usually been very strict in where it's weapons and money goes, specifically to the prisons and specialty units, such as YAT, which go to focusing on raids against ISIS members.
The SDF/DAANES has always followed this, so it's interesting to see these things going out to the front lines, we had not for example seen this in the previous skirmishes over the last year nor since the Aleppo flare-up. wondering what chain of events lead to this.

Sweida defenders shoot down 2 interim government drones
The Sweida National Guard Command announced that the interim government forces attempted to attack the northwest front of the city with two drones, but the forces shot down the drones before they could reach their targets.
The command stated in its statement that "A unit of our forces shot down two drones on the northwest front of the city at 17:30, before they reached their targets.
"The Sweida National Guard Command states that we will respond strongly to any violation by the terrorist Damascus government forces, in order to ensure the security and peace of our residents."

Message from YPG-YPJ fighters: We will win no matter what.
As part of the general mobilization launched against the attacks of HTS-ISIS gangs and the gang groups affiliated with the occupying Turkish state, the YPG and YPJ fighters, who first defended their people and land on the front lines, sent a message to the Kurdish people.

The fighters said, "As long as the Apoist devoted fighters are here, no one can break our people. Our people should know this very well. Long live the resistance of our people. Trust our people, our fighters, the YPG-YPJ fighters."

On the other hand, a YPJ fighter said, "As YPJ fighters, we will win no matter what," and called on the public to participate in the general mobilization.

A message from freedom fighters to the people of Kurdistan: We draw our strength from you.
The fighters' message is as follows:
“We are in Til Barût. As you know, we are on the war fronts. We salute all our comrades and our people, especially Leader Apo. We reiterate our promise to our people that we will liberate our country. We will resist to the end. We have an enemy that is attacking and displacing our people.”
Greetings to all four parts of Kurdistan. Our people in Southern and Northern Kurdistan, in particular, have broken down borders. Our people in Europe have given us great morale through their actions and spirit. Our people in Northern Kurdistan, especially those in Nisêbîn and Pirsus, have organized large-scale actions; we salute their resistance. We draw strength from our people resisting in all four parts of Kurdistan. We invite all our people to Rojava.”

And more from YAT, even with personal weapons being AR-15s(? It's not an AK which in itself is notable). It was probably a sound decision to for the SDF to funnel YPG/J cadre into YAT, seemingly exclusively to the arab partners. This being existential i severely doubt they have to care what the americans have to say on the matter or the repercussions anymore:
YPJ-YPG fighters: To resist is to live!
A large part of the front line stretching from Hasakah to Raqqa has been cleared of militants. Freedom fighters are continuing to reinforce their positions on the front lines, approximately 20 km from the center of Hasakah.

In footage sent to ANF from the front line, a YPG fighter said: “Our değerli people, our YPG-YPJ fighters are currently on the front lines. They are reinforcing their positions. January 24th, 03:00.”

A YPJ fighter said, “As we have said before, and I repeat it here: We are fighting a life-or-death battle for all of Kurdistan, especially Hesekê. It’s either an honorable life or an honorable death. They say they will easily enter cities with their special warfare methods. We will not allow this. Until the last Kurdish fighter or the last person remains, we will not allow them to pass into Kurdish cities.”

Another YPG fighter stated, “Honor is our honor, Hesekê is our Hesekê. Let them come to the square,” while another fighter said, “As children of fire, we will resist to the last drop of our blood. This is ground zero. If they fire a single bullet at us, we will retaliate. To resist is to live, comrade, this is our place. This land is our land.”

QSD and YPJ forces are maintaining their resistance positions on both urban and rural fronts against the increasing threats in recent times.

With the plug pulled on the SDF kurds I wonder if its a matter of time for the Druze before they're next.

>>2662386
the druze are useful to israel as a buffer state, so they will prolly be safe in the short term

YPG/J press offices have been posting hype-videos (They're fighting you're online war, anon >>2659061
, why don't you do this instead of that, lol.) over the last day or two. Lot of modern equipment and YAT forces, including fancy optics.

>>2662288
The vehicles are American but most of them are armed with various Soviet weapons which are ubiquitous in the region.
>wondering what chain of events lead to this.
They probably were just keeping their better equipment in reserve for a more serious conflict, which is happening now.

After Aleppo: Breaking the game and 'hebûn' û 'nebûn'
The events in Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh, and beyond in Aleppo can no longer be viewed as merely a military attack or a local conflict. It is now clear that this attack was a multi-layered plan of elimination imposed on the Kurds, both on the ground and in the ideological sphere. Initially, the aim might seem to be to control a specific area, paralyze Kurdish political will, and transform the negotiating table into a platform for surrender. However, interpretations, particularly following the January 18th Hewlêr meeting, have undeniably revealed that the ultimate target of this attack concept is the whole of Kurdistan, and the main actor is the colonialist Republic of Turkey.
Therefore, the events in Aleppo and afterwards are not an end in themselves, but the beginning of a new threshold. The real question is no longer "what happened?", but "how will we position ourselves at this threshold?"

<WHAT IS DISRUPTING THE GAME, AND WHAT ISN'T?

The calls made after Aleppo were often misinterpreted as "overturning the table." However, the radical decision referred to here was not to abandon negotiations entirely. It was about disrupting the game, rejecting the established tables, the imposed frameworks, and the manipulative headings aimed at drawing the Kurds into submission. The real problem is not the negotiation itself, but the siege regime established under the guise of negotiation, progressing simultaneously with military pressure on the ground.
The negotiation process, particularly in the context of Syria, should not be deliberately intertwined with other historical and political issues. What is at stake here is a concrete negotiating framework progressing in sync with the military timetable in the Syrian arena. Attributing broader, abstract, or different contexts to this framework is a diversion aimed at obscuring the concept of aggression.
It is precisely at this point that the statecraft of the Republic of Turkey comes into play; the language of negotiation and military encirclement are operated as two complementary tools of the same strategy. Therefore, Turkey is not outside, on the sidelines, or in a mediating position in this process; it is one of the founding and directing elements of the attack concept itself.

<PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE OPERATION

In this process, Hakan Fidan positioned himself not as an individual, but as the operator of the Turkish Republic's state intelligence, both on the ground and in the intellectual sphere. The strategy pursued goes beyond classical diplomacy; it is an intense psychological warfare practice. The Kurds are constantly being drawn into their internal disputes, and are being worn down through symbols, rhetoric, and representation.
The "2+2=1" slogan, recently spreading on social media and adopted by young people—that is, the idea that the sum of both parts of Kurdistan is one—should be read in this context. This expression, which carries symbolic meaning for Kurds, was echoed by Hakan Fidan himself in a press conference with the emphasis on "2+2=4." This is not a mechanical mathematical reminder, but a conscious political reference. The message is clear: 'We are managing this process, both on the ground and in discourse.'
Similarly, the fact that Ilham Ahmed clarified that the phone call between Masoud Barzani and Ahmed al-Shara was made at the request of the North and East Syria administration, after it became a subject of controversy in Kurdish public opinion, was a concrete example of how psychological warfare attempts can be thwarted. The necessity of multi-channel diplomacy in times of crisis was deliberately distorted with codes of "betrayal" or "separation."
This method is not new; the state's institutional memory, stretching from the Special Organization to the Special Warfare Departments, from counter-guerrilla structures to current intelligence and diplomatic practices, possesses deep experience in ruthlessly using these tools, especially against Kurds. Today, this experience is being transferred to and, in effect, reformatted into structures similar to HTS in the new balance of power being sought in Syria.

<A VERY PLANNED POLITICAL AND MILITARY OPERATION

The resulting situation is not a coincidental or spontaneous military development. It is part of a pre-planned scenario aimed at creating a political, social, and psychological rupture among the Kurds and, through this rupture, plunging them into a deep, multi-layered crisis.

At this point, the observation underlined in the article titled "The Grand Conspiracy Involving Genocide" by Zeki Akıl, published in Yeni Özgür Politika on January 17, 2026, is also important. It was emphasized that the agreement between the SDF and the Damascus administration, which was nearing signing just before the Aleppo attacks, was disrupted by Türkiye's direct intervention; and that the attacks on Kurdish neighborhoods were launched immediately after the meetings with the US and Israel in Paris. This clearly shows that what happened was not a local or momentary security reflex, but a multi-actor and planned political-military operation.

<THIS CONTRADICTION MUST BE EXPOSED.

The way Ahmed al-Shara's interview with Shams TV, based in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, was presented and its content is a prime example of this psychological strategy. The economic and security-oriented discourse, built around energy, natural resources, and reconstruction, aimed to remove the Kurds from being a political interlocutor and instead criminalize them.
The allegations of "resources being seized" and "revenues being transferred to Kandil" served less as a basis for evidence and more as a narrative legitimizing military and security intervention. This language, constructed with the phrase "I am not threatening," was effectively a final warning, a call for surrender. Ironically, the claim that Kurds were taking orders from Kandil came from mouths that spoke for a political and military line that couldn't even breathe without approval from Ankara.

It is imperative that this contradiction be exposed and kept on the agenda.

<THE ATTACK HAPPENED WHILE THE TABLE WAS THERE.

At this stage, it is difficult to speak of a negotiation process in the classical sense. The experience in Aleppo and the events that followed have clearly shown the following:
• The attack happened while the table was there.
• The siege began while integration was being discussed.
• The language of dialogue was operated in sync with the military calendar.
• This picture reveals that what happened was not a "misunderstanding," but a deliberately orchestrated pressure regime. What is being debated today is not so much the content of the negotiation topics, but rather the very ground on which surrender is being imposed as a solution with a clear timetable.

Historical examples are illustrative at this point. The Algerian experience clearly demonstrates the fundamental truth pointed out by Frantz Fanon in 'The Wretched of the Earth': in colonial conditions, negotiation is often used not as a solution, but as another form of violence.

Fanon does not reject negotiation in principle; however, he particularly emphasizes that a colonial power will not develop a genuine will for a solution without sensing the possibility of defeat. The language at the negotiating table is often a delayed translation of the force and violence on the ground.
The FLN (National Liberation Front) was attacked while at the negotiating table, its members were subjected to torture; a solution did not develop immediately. However, the resistance irrevocably eroded France's legitimacy as a "system-maker," and this process culminated in Algeria's independence with the Evian Agreement on March 18, 1962.

What is happening in Syria today points to an updated version of the same logic: negotiation is being used not as a search for a solution based on equality, but as a gradual tool for surrender.
Today, the issue is less about winning or losing, and more about the will to reject a situation where surrender is presented as the solution.

Resistance alone may not produce a solution, nor may it yield short-term gains. However, at a moment when surrender is imposed as the "only way," resistance becomes a line of defense, a political threshold, and a precondition for possible future solutions. The most realistic approach today is neither to take refuge in romantic expectations nor to accept the language of surrender as "reason." What needs to be done is to accurately record this breaking point and organize the collective political patience that will make the future possible.

<BREAKING AND HEBÛN Û NEBÛN THRESHOLD IN ROJAVA

What is happening in Rojava today is not a temporary tension or a local conflict. This is the visible manifestation of a long-term architecture of elimination targeting the political, social, and historical existence of the Kurds. The language of normalization, the calls for silence and delay are all complementary parts of this architecture.
Reducing this process to individual actors is misleading. Ahmed al-Shara and similar groups are not the cause of this line of action, but rather its puppets. This line, incapable of producing a governing practice other than violence and elimination, has clearly demonstrated that it lacks the political and moral capacity to govern Syria. However, the price for the revelation of this truth has once again been paid by the Kurds.
The most blatant and symbolic dimension of the policy of elimination is seen in the attacks directed at Kurdish women. In the Rojava experience, Kurdish women are not only individuals but also carriers of social transformation. The violence directed at them is a direct attack on this model itself. What memory forgets, conscience does not forget. Conscience, like an unforgiving judge, is the sharpest artery that sustains Kurdish national consciousness; it postpones until tomorrow, but it does not let it go unpunished.

This new order, simultaneously orchestrated in Iraq and Syria, aims to fragment the Kurdish region by pitting Kurds against Arab social structures. In this context, the border between Rojava and Kurdistan is the last strategic artery ensuring the regional continuity of the Kurds. Breaking this line would mean that Southern Kurdistan would also become a target.
Türkiye's long-standing goal has been to effectively control the line stretching from Habur to Mosul, and to isolate the Kurdish presence by eliminating Sinjar and Maxmur. The fall of Rojava would mean the removal of the biggest obstacle to this plan.
In this sense, the mobilization and developments in all four parts of Kurdistan enabled the Kurdish society to quickly grasp the concept of 'existence and non-existence'; it offered an opportunity to once again steer politics and prevented further disintegration.

<FINALLY

This honorable stance, embodied in the person of Ziyad Halep, is the strongest response against all psychological warfare techniques, all dirty scenarios, and all subjugation projects.
Therefore, the resistance in Aleppo is not merely a line of defense; it is also a moral turning point, a declaration of will, and a seal of historical continuity imprinted on the present day.
This seal cannot be removed either at a desk or through propaganda apparatuses. Because in this age where surrender is imposed, it is a historical decision that reminds us that, ultimately, willpower is still possible. It is the name of the unyielding will that locks the Kurds into resistance; and what will be born from this is a free Kurdistan.

I have many Syrian sunni friends that I love dearly but god damn they're such hypocrites. Putting children in prison is absolutely awful under any circumstance. They don't give a shit about sharia and the caliphate or whatever, if the STG was ba'athist with a sunni flavor they'd be acting the same.

ISIS Back – Part 1 (Translated)
Video date: Raqqa, 22/1/2026 – Syria
On 24/1/2026, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a secret meeting in Turkey with representatives of HTS, ISIS, and al-Qaeda to discuss power sharing in Syria.
They chose Abu Muhammad al-Shami, a former ISIS commander, as Amir (mayor) of Raqqa. (They said this could be changed if there was public anger.)
Hakan Fidan advised them not to use the ISIS black flag in streets or public buildings, as it would draw attention and cause problems. However, they said they would use it during attacks against the SDF and Kurds.
All ISIS wives who were inside al-Hol camp will receive full monthly payments and will be given free housing. Any widow whose husband was killed in an ISIS operation within the last 10 years will be recognized by the Syrian regime as a “martyr,” and her family will receive full special government support.
In case of international community pressure, the Syrian regime agreed to a ceasefire with the SDF. During that time, attacks against the SDF should continue, but without uniforms. They will claim that ISIS is attacking the SDF, not the Syrian regime.
However, there were disagreements.
ISIS demanded Homs, Hama, al-Hasakah, Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor, a quarter of Damascus, five border crossings, and 1 oil stations.
Jolani agreed only to Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor
Hakan Fidan said it would be better for ISIS to stay in Kurdish areas.
Hakan Fidan told them its better to leave it for next next meeting.
This is Part 1, and the next part will be published in the coming days.

PYD executive Medya Ehmed spoke at the meeting. Medya Ehmed said that the people must protect themselves against threats and attacks and support their military forces.
The media stated that the Kurds were united and that protecting the achievements of the martyrs was everyone's responsibility.
Continuing his speech, Medya drew attention to the supportive stance of people around the world and Kurdish parties, saying that everyone is asked to be vigilant and protect themselves and their regions.

The residents, who expressed their views, stated that they are attached to their land and their fighters and will protect the achievements of the martyrs.

Residents demanded that the Autonomous Administration authorities inform the public about the meetings with the interim government. They also called on the PYD and other parties to increase meetings with the public.

IHD: 5 children froze to death in Kobanê, urgent action must be taken.
The statement emphasized that the destruction of infrastructure and ongoing conflicts have effectively eliminated children's access to basic rights such as food, health, education, and safe housing.

The statement, based on data from Heyva Sor a Kurd and SOHR, indicated that the health system was on the verge of collapse, baby formula and essential medicines were running out, and neonatal deaths were occurring due to power outages and oxygen deprivation.

IHD stated that children are paying the price of a conflict in which they are not involved, emphasizing that the fundamental rights of children cannot be justified by any military or political reason.

The association made the following appeal:

“As the Human Rights Association, we reiterate once again; children are not a party to war. These multifaceted human rights violations against children in Rojava must end immediately; the right to life, access to education, food, and safe shelter for children must be urgently guaranteed. We call on all those responsible to take immediate action.”

>Sunni islamism is the most degenerate, reactionary force in the middle east after zionism.

Ocelan's politics would be a return to the politics of Saddam, Asad, Mubarak etc. Most Sunni Islamist parties, like them or not, are just religious centrist democrats. The Brotherhood's belief in political pluralism, rule of law etc. is why they ended up in prison. Islamism, as much as leftists love to bitch about it, has had a democratizing effect on MENA politics. It reminds me of those old Trotskyites who used to hate on the original Zapatistas because they were rural and Catholic instead of smug city leftists from bourgeois backgrounds.

If leftists don't like Islamists, fair enough, the logical thing to do post-revolution is to compete against them within the political framework, one which has created opportunities for the left.

An Arab woman carries her child and her gun and defends her city
As part of the general mobilization announced by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, local residents took up arms to defend their regions and institutions..
While following the efforts of residents to protect the neighborhoods of the city of Çilaxa, our reporters came across an Arab woman named Amel El Hussein. Carrying both her one-year-old child and her gun, Amel is defending the neighborhoods of her city despite the cold.

Amel El Hussein said: "Despite my daughter's young age and the severe cold, today is a day of honor, a day when everyone fulfills their duties and responsibilities, protecting their region and its institutions from attacks. With these attacks, they want to destroy our will and our existence."
Amal added: "A country that I do not protect, I have no right to live in that country. That is why I joined the general mobilization to protect my region. Let us be worthy of living in our country. Today is the day of defense. Against the attacks against our existence and unity, I will go out and defend my city until my last breath."

2 battalions were formed as part of the mobilization.
In response to the call for general mobilization issued by the Autonomous Administration to protect the region from attacks, the youth and residents of the Xerbi neighborhood of Qamishlo city in the Cizre canton issued a statement. In the statement, the residents announced the formation of a battalion named Martyr Deniz Çiya.
The statement said, "Due to these attacks on our land, we announce our participation in the general mobilization to protect our people, land and country. It is time for honor and defense of the country."
The statement called on all residents of the region to defend the country. It was stated that they would continue the resistance in the footsteps of martyrs Ziyad Aleb and Deniz Çiya, and that victory would be for the people.

Residents of the village of Til Cemal in the city of Girkê Legê in the Cizre canton, who joined the mobilization, announced that they are ready to fight with all their might alongside their fighters and defend the country.
The residents warned against an attempt to cause discord among the residents and affirmed that "the Kurds have a cause and they must defend their honor and dignity, because they are lovers of humanity and peace, and they also want to live in freedom and dignity on their land, living together with all communities."
The residents of the city of Girkê Legê also gathered in Martyr Xebat Square and formed a battalion.

i cant post so much news over next few days. apologies, i'll try for anything important THOUGH
TJK-E and KCDK-E: Let's expand the "Status for Rojava" struggle
The Kurdish Women's Movement in Europe (TJK-E) and the Congress of Democratic Societies of Kurdistan in Europe (KCDK-E) issued a joint statement on the occasion of the anniversary of the victory of Kobanê. The statement noted that on January 26, 2015, despite all the attacks by ISIS gangs and the Turkish state, the victory of Kobanê was a hope for the peoples of the world and it was stated that this is why Kobanê and the Rojava Revolution are being targeted today. The Women's Organization stated that the siege and embargo on Kobanê must be ended immediately and called for the expansion of the "Status for Rojava" campaign..

The full text of the call is as follows: On January 26, 2015, despite all the efforts of ISIS gangs and the genocidal Turkish state, Kobanê was won. This victory was a hope and inspiration for the peoples of the world. That is why they want to reverse this victory. On the anniversary of the Victory of Kobanê, the "Status for Rojava" campaign must be expanded to protect Kobanê and the Rojava Revolution on a global scale..

International forces and the Turkish state, who want to suppress the Victory of Kobanê and the Rojava Revolution, have increased their attacks on Rojava with all their logistical capabilities. On the anniversary of the Victory of Kobanê, the brutal gangs have surrounded Kobanê and are attacking with all their might to avenge the defeat..

The people of Kobanê, which is completely under siege, are facing a major embargo, especially on food. In order to break the resistance, water, electricity and all other necessities of life have been cut off. Just yesterday, 5 children lost their lives to the cold. There is a complete human tragedy..

International powers, who show a common stance around their economic and political interests, are attacking the Kurds with terrorists and savages and want to take advantage of the situation. The press, journalists, so-called experts, the army, tanks and rifles of the Turkish state are providing all kinds of logistical support for this genocidal war..

In order for Kobanê to stand and the resistance to continue, there is a need for stronger support. The spirit of Kobanê is standing and it is necessary to re-grow it. The only way out against these savages who commit all kinds of atrocities on women's bodies and take children captive is resistance..

The will of a free woman is being targeted because they struck fear into the hearts of these brutal ISIS gangs in Kobanê and defeated them. They want to destroy our land and future by attacking the Rojava revolution. The Kurdish people will not allow this genocide and will not submit..

The people of the world have not forgotten the resistance of Kobanê and have great sympathy for it. Therefore, we must increase all existing activities and programs and fight shoulder to shoulder with the Kurdish people who liberated the people from the hands of these brutal ISIS gangs and sacrificed their youth..

The initiative, which was created by 183 organizations from 39 countries and 72 individuals, calls for global action, public awareness, breaking the silence of states, and the absence of cooperation in this game..

Therefore, we continue the struggle for the sovereignty of Rojava without interruption, and we call on the people to take to the streets and mobilize until we achieve results. We, as TJK-E and KCDK-E, call on them to rise up against the dirty war policies being waged by the Turkish state's gangs and unite with all their might under the slogan "Status for Rojava" and increase the struggle..

The Arab people of Shengal saluted the Rojava resistance
Led by the Arab Youth Initiative, the people of the Arab region of Shengal held a mass march with the slogan 'With the spirit of brotherhood of peoples, we are with the resistance of Rojava'.

The Arab people's march started from the road to the village of Xelef. The march, which was attended by the Arab community from the border villages of Shengal, continued with slogans for the Rojava resistance to the Bar Village Hall. Then, a statement was made on behalf of the Arab youth. The statement announced the support of the Arab people for the Rojava resistance.

<'They want to sow discord between people'

The statement made by the young Arab Emir Sayir is as follows: "We, as the Arab Youth Initiative in Shengal, strongly condemn the attacks carried out by the Interim Government in Rojava against our people. These attacks particularly target women, youth and children, the most obvious examples of this brutality were seen in the regions of Sheikh Maqsud, Ashrafiye, Deir Hafer and later in the regions east of the Euphrates. The main aim of these attacks is to sow the seeds of discord and unrest in the regions of North and East Syria. They want to start a sectarian and racist war between the components of the region (Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs and others). Under the pretext of the presence of military forces affiliated with the SDF, they are victimizing the civilian population. This war, which is being waged by terrorist groups, Turkey and ISIS, aims to commit massacres against our Kurdish brothers, such as the Halabja massacre.

<'We are always with the people of Rojava'

On this basis, we call on the United Nations and all human rights organizations to intervene to stop these genocides and terrorist attacks on the people of the region. We, as the Arab Youth of Sinjar, will always and at all times stand by our people in Rojava.''
The statement ended with the slogans 'Long live the people's resistance' and 'Long live Leader Apo'.

I was wondering why there didn't seem to be more use of drones in this conflict.

>>2665053
The drones of both sides are a bit shit and not that high in numbers. People glaze Shaheens too much.

Also if I remember correctly, a big reason why the STG backed off the Suwayda conflict was because Israel seemed to be specifically targeting their drone talent during the short bombing campaign.

I doubt either side can afford it to the intensity that is happening in Ukraine.

Mazloum Ebdi: Kurdish regions are the red line, resistance continues
The Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, participated in Ronahi TV's Special Program and evaluated the attacks by the Syrian Interim Government gangs and the announced 15-day ceasefire
Mazloum Abdi stated that the recent ceasefire was announced with the sponsorship of the United States and international forces, and noted that negotiations with the interim government are continuing, but other details will be discussed in the future.

Mazloum Abdi said that the current deadline will complete serious steps towards integration and announced that the SDF is ready to implement the January 18 agreement in a short time. He also noted that names have been proposed for the positions of assistant minister of defense and governor of Hasakah, but they have not yet reached an agreement on the list of names.

Abdi pointed out that "according to the agreement, the Syrian army should not enter Kurdish areas."

Abdi also drew attention to the meeting held in Erbil, stating that the meeting was held with the aim of implementing a ceasefire, adding, "all sides wanted the solution to be political, not military, and the results of the meeting were positive."

The SDF Commander-in-Chief stated that negotiations with the interim government are being conducted with international sponsorship and the participation of US political and military institutions, as well as French President Emmanuel Macron, but that these agreements are not final.

Abdi noted that there are international efforts to bring about peace, but their success depends on the level of implementation by Damascus. "If unacceptable wars are not imposed, the efforts will succeed," Abdi said.

Mazloum Ebdi congratulated the Kurdish people on the anniversary of the liberation of Kobanê from ISIS gangs, stating that the Kobanê resistance was a turning point in the history of Rojava and allowed the Kurdish people to become. Ebdi said: "The attacks being carried out on Kobanê today will fail."

He also said that Damascus was asked not to enter Kobane and that it had accepted this request. Abdi hoped that the government would comply with this request.

Mazlum Ebdi drew attention to the file of the refugees from Afrin, Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî, saying that the refugees must return to the region, adding that solutions for Qamishlo and Kobanê are being discussed, and that other regions are also of interest.

Abdi drew attention to the violations committed against Kurds in Raqqa, Tabqa and other regions, saying that they must be held accountable. He also warned against acts of racism and provocations between Kurds and Arabs.

Abdi reminded that there are Arab martyrs within the SDF, especially from Raqqa and Deir Ezzor, and said that policies of sowing discord between the components must be examined.

SDF Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi stressed that their withdrawal from Raqqa, Tabqa and Deir Ezzor was carried out to prevent further tension and bloodshed, and said that the Kurdish regions are a red line. Abdi stated that the SDF is ready for all possibilities and is committed to the political option, which it sees as the only solution. He also added: "We will continue to resist and defend our regions until a comprehensive political solution is reached."

Statement from the YPG on the 11th anniversary of the victory of Kobanê
The General Command of the People's Protection Units (YPG) issued a statement on the occasion of the 11th anniversary of the victory in Kobanê against ISIS gangs.

The statement is as follows:
"On the 11th anniversary of the victory of the Kobanê resistance and the defeat and expulsion of the terrorist organization ISIS from the region, we are passing through an important historical stage today that concerns not only Kobanê, but the people of the region and all of humanity. This anniversary was not only a military victory, but a revolution of will and a cry for life against a project of death and darkness.".

11 years ago, Kobanê faced one of the most severe attacks ever carried out by ISIS; the most brutal and terrorist organization of the modern era that sought to impose its extremist ideology through massacres, enslavement and the systematic destruction of humanity and civilization. At that time, Kobanê was surrounded on all sides. Despite the small possibilities, there was faith in the cause, a connection to the land and a steely will..

Kobani became a global symbol of resistance, and its battle marked the beginning of the true collapse of ISIS. It also shattered the myth of the organization that had presented itself as an invincible force. From the streets of Kobani, the first decisive blows were struck, paving the way for the liberation of entire cities and peoples from the clutches of terrorism..

On this anniversary, we remember with great respect the martyrs of Kobanê who sacrificed their lives to protect all humanity and defined the boundaries of honor and freedom with their blood. Their fighting and heroism were not only for the defense of a city, but for the values of common life, the right to determine the fate of peoples and the rejection of all forms of oppression and extremism..

We proudly and proudly salute our fighters; the fighters of the People's Protection Units (YPG) and the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) who represented the highest ideals of heroism and sacrifice and proved that the organized will of the people can defeat the most formidable forces of darkness. The participation of women on the front lines was a revolutionary message that broke the subjugation and patriarchal mentality that ISIS tried to instill and confirmed that the liberation of society begins with the liberation of women..

We also offer our boundless gratitude and respect to the people of Rojava, North, South and East Kurdistan, to our Kurdish people in Europe and to all the peoples of the world and the free forces who stood by Kobani politically, humanely and through the media and refused to leave the city to its fate. This solidarity proved that the Kobani cause was truly a human cause..

The victory in Kobanê was not a temporary event in the context of the war on terror, but a historic moment of awakening, confirming that extremism cannot be defeated with weapons alone, but also with a democratic project, with the will of the people, and with an alternative model based on justice, equality, and coexistence between all communities..

Today, eleven years after that historic victory, Kobani is once again facing threats, sieges and attacks. There are continuous attempts to break the will of its people and its democratic experiment. On this basis, we affirm that these hostile policies, no matter how diverse their tools, will not be able to break the will of Kobani or erase the truth of its historical role..

We declare clearly: Just as we defeated ISIS militarily and ideologically, we promise to continue our struggle to defeat all those who maintain the ISIS mentality and all those who seek to reproduce power, oppression and destruction. Because the mentality that justifies killing, siege and starvation is the same ISIS mentality. Therefore, we will continue to defend our people, our land and our rights. We will remain loyal to the blood of the martyrs, committed to the decision of resistance to build a pluralistic and democratic society that guarantees the dignity and freedom of people without discrimination..

Kobanê has never been an ordinary city. It has always been a school of resistance and will always remain so. It is a beacon for freedom fighters and a clear message to the world that people who believe in the right to life and freedom are invincible and will always triumph..

Martyrs never die.
Resistance is Life.
Long live Kobanê; a symbol of honor, resistance and freedom."

QAMISHLI, Syria, Jan 26 (Reuters) - Russia is withdrawing forces from an airport in northeastern Syria, moving to end its military presence in a corner of the country where the Damascus government is trying to seize control from Kurdish forces, five Syrian sources said.
Two of the sources said Russian forces had begun a gradual withdrawal from Qamishli airport last week. Some of the forces were expected to move to Russia's Hmeimim air base in western Syria while others would return to Russia, one of the sources said.
There was no immediate comment from Russia's defence ministry. Russian daily Kommersant reported last week, citing an unnamed Syrian source, that the Syrian government might ask Russian forces to leave the base once it had pushed the Kurds out because "there’s nothing for them (the Russians) to do there".

Gangs are preparing to attack the villages of Qasimiyê and Zerkutek.
Despite the ceasefire, HTS-ISIS and Turkish state-linked gangs are attempting to attack the villages of Qasimiyê and Zerkutek west of Kobanê.
According to the information obtained, the gangs' attack activity on these two villages is increasing.

Popular resistance is spreading from the front lines to the neighborhoods.=
The call for general mobilization against the ongoing occupation and attacks by ISIS-HTS and Turkish state-backed gangs continues to resonate strongly across all segments of society. The people of the region are actively participating in the resistance process through various methods.

In addition to the fighters serving on the front lines, civilians living in neighborhoods and villages are also building solidarity networks to the best of their abilities. Public contribution is not limited to security patrols; many people, especially women, young people, and the elderly, are carrying out a voluntary mobilization to meet the basic needs of the fighters on the front lines and the citizens on guard duty.

In the city of Qamishlo, a remarkable example of solidarity stands out. Women in the city are working intensively to meet the ammunition needs of YPG and YPJ fighters serving on the front lines. Volunteer women and young people are providing logistical support to the defense forces by reloading the weapons.

With the call for general mobilization, similar volunteer initiatives are rapidly spreading throughout the region. The people are demonstrating a spirit of unity against the attacks, defending both the front lines and social life. This emerging collective effort once again powerfully reflects Rojava's tradition of resistance.

A young Kurdish man was injured in a racist attack in Germany
Erbil (Rawwa) - A resident of the German city of Leipzig told Rudaw that two people attacked a young Kurdish man from Eastern Kurdistan with knives and injured him.
It was reported that the attackers attacked the youth by saying "We will kill the Kurds" and using insults about Kobani.
The shepherd, who is from Wana, Northern Kurdistan, told Rudaw Media Network that his friend, K., was brutally attacked last night (December 26) in the city of Leipzig.
According to information provided by the Shivs, two people speaking Arabic and Turkish attacked the young Kurdish man with knives, injuring both of his hands, arms, and legs.

<"Because they spoke Kurdish"

Şivan explained that the incident began at 11:35 am at a main station in the city.

When Şivan and K. met, they spoke in Kurdish about the situation in Western Kurdistan and the Kurds.

Two other young people listened to their conversation and followed K. as he boarded the tram.

"Threats of rape were made against the mothers and daughters of Kobani"

Dilshad E., their friend who gave K. a headache at the hospital, revealed the details of the incident to Rudaw.

K. told his friends that after he got on the tram, the two of them began insulting him in Arabic, Turkish, and several other languages.

K. said: "They were insulting the Kurds and Mazloum Abdi. They were saying, 'We will attack the mothers and daughters of Kobani. We will kill the Kurds.'"

>Attacked with a 30-centimeter knife

The young Kurdish man tried to distance himself from them, saying he didn't want any problems, but the attackers attacked him with a 30-centimeter knife.

As a result of the attack, the 30-year-old man was injured in both his arms and legs.

It was learned that his ring finger had been amputated but was surgically double stitched.

The attackers also wanted to injure his stomach.

>An attacker was arrested.

Şivan stated that K. called him after the incident and that he went to the scene to help with the translation work with the police.

K. told the police that he told the attackers, "Your camera is recording you," and thus intimidated them.

It was reported that one of the attackers, a Syrian Arab, was arrested by police, but the other escaped.

His friends reported that the young Kurdish man is currently in the hospital and is in good condition.

Police have also told German media that the person who was arrested is 21 years old and of Syrian origin, but was later released.

It was also reported that the second person had escaped.

By the logic of "Tankie" complainers who support the NATO destruction of Syria…. Rojava is finally transcending all their issues with AES by ceasing to exist

They can finally support Rojava (and the PKK!), without reservation. Soon they will be purely theoretical. The best sort of socialism and, coincidentally, the only valid answer to US hegemony, as they would have it. Go figure.

Also notice how, lacking the NATO propaganda drive… nobody fucking cares if every Kurd gets fed to ISIS and every woman gets re-enslaved. It's almost like the propaganda and the support for Rojava within NATO were one and the same. And the only thing that mattered was who held the oil, which isn't changing now.

Diesel is being distributed to citizens in Amuda
The fuel committee of the city of Amuda in the Cizre canton, in cooperation with the communes, has begun distributing diesel to all citizens.
Due to emergencies, attacks and cold weather, diesel was introduced as a precaution.
The Food Security Committee is distributing 200 liters of food to each family for 220 thousand Syrian pounds.
The committee stated that the distribution process is continuing according to a well-prepared plan, and necessary precautions are being taken to avoid overcrowding.

Bread will be distributed through communes in Tel Temir
Following the announcement of public mobilization in the cities of the Cizre canton, service institutions also mobilized to make the daily lives of residents easier.
In this context, the Til Temei bakery was one of the institutions that responded to the mobilization and mobilized all its employees so that the residents' need for bread would not be reduced.
In the past, the need and demand for bread among the residents increased, so residents would gather in front of the bakery to buy bread.

To solve this problem, the bakery management, in cooperation with the city communes and other relevant institutions, has established a new distribution mechanism. According to this mechanism, bread will be distributed to residents through neighborhood and village communes. This will ease the pressure on the bakery and make it easier to deliver bread to residents of neighborhoods and villages..

The bakery management stated that they are producing bread according to a regular plan in accordance with the general mobilization situation to ensure that all residents have enough. According to this plan, 4,600 bags of bread are distributed daily through 12 city communes and 4,600 bags through village communes, while 900 bags are also distributed directly to the bakery for emergencies.

The residents of Til Temir expressed their satisfaction with this and stated that distribution through communes reduces the problem of gathering in front of the bakery and overcrowding.

Broadcasting of anti-Kurdish channels banned in the South
After institutions, intellectuals, journalists, politicians and various parties in Southern Kurdistan called for a ban on the broadcast of Arabic channels such as Al Jazeera, the two Al Arabiya and Al Arabiya Al Hadath channels, and Turkish state channels, the Kurdistan Region's Ministry of Culture banned the broadcast of foreign and Arabic channels in the Kurdistan Region that support the massacre committed by gangs against the people of Rojava Kurdistan..

The Ministry of Culture of the Kurdistan Regional Government has banned the broadcasting of foreign and Arabic channels in the Kurdistan Region due to their policy of supporting the crimes of ISIS gangs, Turkish state gangs, and Golan gangs against the Kurds of Western Kurdistan..

After the television channels (Al Jazeera, Al Hadas, Al Arabiya and Sharqiya) and the special war channels of the occupying Turkish state supported the crimes of the Damascus interim government, the Turkish state and ISIS gangs against the Kurdish people, many different parties in Southern Kurdistan demanded the closure of these channels' broadcasts and offices..

In this context, the Ministry of Culture of the Kurdistan Regional Government banned the broadcasting of foreign and Arabic channels at the request of individuals, institutions, organizations and various parties in the Kurdistan Region..

Erbil (Rawdaw) - A Syrian Arab Army commander known as the "Tunnel Engineer" was killed in fighting against the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the Kobani desert.

Abu Musab Shanan, known as the "Tunnel Engineer" or "Minister of Tunnels", was a military commander whose name was associated with tunnel warfare tactics in the Syrian war.

According to Syrian media and activists, Abu Musab Shanan was killed this month in clashes with the SDF on the outskirts of the city of Kobani, near the Lafarge cement factory.

Abu Musab Shanan

Abu Musab Shanan was from the Zawiya Mountain area of rural Idlib.

He held command positions within the Ahrar al-Sham Movement and the Islamic Front and later joined the opposition groups (the Syrian National Army) that Turkey supported.

Şenan moved from the ranks of the opposition groups to the new military establishment that was established by Ehmed Şer (Colani).

He held a command position in the 42nd Brigade of the "New Syrian Army".

<Tunnel Engineer

He participated in many engineering and military operations on the northern and northeastern fronts (Rojava Kurdistan).

Shennan was renowned for his ability to design and construct complex tunnel networks that were used in military operations against the forces of the former Syrian regime.

According to reports, he supervised tunnel digging operations that led to military bases and then blew up the tunnels.

It all depends on the ability of the government in Damascus to get its shit together. There are some parallels I think to the Russian wars in Chechnya, where the Chechens were able to enjoy a few years of de facto independence because the Russian government and military were in complete chaos and shambles. Eventually they recovered from these issues of course and then were able to crush the Chechen separatists. I find it hard to believe that the ineptitude of the new Syrian government could continue indefinitely, but on the other hand they may continue the proud tradition of Arabs losing wars any time they fight non-Arabs. Alternatively Turkey might just go in and deal with Rojava themselves.

It’s fascinating that despite the Kurds being Sunni, the current regime isn’t making any attempt to appeal to the usual Islamist or pan-Islamic unity that ISIS and other jihadist groups tried to promote. I’ve heard Middle Eastern mutuals talk about how racialization has become more common(though it has always existed(. Sunni and Shia identities are increasingly becoming ethnic identifiers and in the case of the Kurds, racial hostility is now openly accepted.

Yeah America has abandoned them and that means HTS Syria is just going to wipe out the Kurds. And if they can't do it Turkey will 100% step in to finally get rid of the annoyance on their border. Their only choice is to roll over and accept integration into new-Syria, unless they can somehow get Russian support.

>There are some parallels I think to the Russian wars in Chechnya
What parallels? Every Chechen above the age of 22 had served in the Soviet Armed Forces. Tens of thousands of men had been in the infantry and Soviet armored units, so they understood the attack strategies and weaknesses of the Russians. Its first and third presidents were high-ranking Soviet military officers. There were entire caches of weapons and former Soviet Army bases from which they armed and supplied their troops. Hell the defensive plans they used were literally developed in anticipation of a potential invasion from Turkey. The Chechens weren’t plucky mountain guerrillas, they were trained and well-disciplined soldiers led by professional military officers. There are no parallels with what is happening in Syria.

SDF: A phased integration and comprehensive ceasefire agreement has been signed.
The SDF Press Center stated in a press release, "A ceasefire agreement has been signed between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) within the framework of a comprehensive agreement that also envisages the gradual integration of the military and administrative forces of both sides."

The details of the agreement were given in the statement as follows:

“This agreement stipulates the withdrawal of military forces from contact points, the deployment of security forces under the Ministry of Interior to the city centers of Hasakah and Qamishlo, the initiation of the integration process of security forces in the region, and the formation of a division consisting of three brigades affiliated with the SDF, and a brigade from Kobani within a division under the authority of the Aleppo Governorate.”

The agreement also stipulates the integration of the Autonomous Administration's institutions into the Syrian state institutions and the permanent employment of its personnel.

In addition, the agreement guarantees the civil and educational rights of the Kurdish people and aims to facilitate the return of displaced persons to their homes.

This agreement aims to ensure the unity of Syrian territory and achieve full integration in the region by strengthening cooperation between the parties involved and unifying efforts toward the reconstruction of the country.

Salih Muslim: The agreement is a beginning, the public must remain vigilant!
Speaking to the Mesopotamia Agency, Salih Muslim emphasized that the existing military structure would be preserved under the agreement, and that local administrations and security forces would remain under Kurdish control.

Muslim stated, "The gains the Kurds have achieved to date will be preserved. Education, institutions, and internal security structures will continue as they are. Internal security forces will remain in place. A limited number of personnel from some state institutions may be deployed in certain areas, but the administration will be entirely in our hands."

Muslim stated that the agreement prevented a major threat aimed at the elimination of the Kurds, and reminded that some agreements made in the past were not implemented, urging caution.

Noting that the implementation of the agreement on the ground depends on Damascus, Muslim added, "However, the people need to be vigilant. Because previous agreements have not been adhered to."

"We must be prepared in every area, from self-defense to security," said Muslim, adding that the necessary measures would be taken.

Referring to the return of displaced citizens, Muslim stated that the people who were forced to migrate from Afrin, Serêkaniyê, and Girê Spî will return to their lands in the coming period.

Muslim also noted that the US and France are in a guarantor position, and that Southern Kurdistan is also a part of the process.

Muslim concluded, "Ultimately, this agreement is a beginning, an important step towards further progress."

The Russian armed forces during the First Chechen War were gutted after the fall of the USSR. Stockpiles of equipment were sold off for scrap or lost to corruption and the military budget was essentially nonexistent. The explosion of urban crime also shifted priorities. Yeltsin was also objectively an idiot and did not understand the capabilities of his forces or of the Chechen state, which had been organizing and preparing for near a decade. The Chechen forces, while still facing some cultural issues that plague many Arab nations, are well funded, well supplied and better organized. Jolani is smarter than Yeltsin. The Kurds need a strong, organized Army and militias alone are not sufficient.

SDF-Damascus deal includes Kurdish Hasaka, Kobani brigades, local security: Rojava
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - A senior Kurdish official in northeast Syria (Rojava) said on Friday the enclave will retain its local security forces (Asayish) and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) will serve in four brigades in Kurdish strongholds under the Syrian army.

Elham Ahmed, foreign relations co-chair for the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES) in northeastern Syria (Rojava), said at a press conference that the agreement struck between Damascus and Kurdish leaders on Friday aims to halt fighting and establish a permanent ceasefire. She said one of its main objectives is “stopping the bloodshed.”

Ahmed said the deal, which will be gradually implemented, includes four new Syrian army brigades from within the SDF. Three will be stationed in Hasaka and one in Kobane, both Kurdish strongholds, and will include Kurdish female fighters known as the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ).

Kurdish security forces (Asayish) will fall under the Ministry of Interior but will be run locally, she said.

“Our security forces are staying put; no force will replace our local forces,” Ahmed said.

She confirmed that Syrian government security forces will enter the Kurdish-held cities of Qamishli on the Turkish border and Hasaka with light weapons during the transition under the central government, but emphasized that security officials will be local.

The agreement marks a shift in governance in northeastern Syria, which local governments and the SDF have run autonomously for over a decade. Damascus has pressed for a centralized government model.

Ahmed added that the region’s government would remain in local hands.

“The governor of Hasaka will be determined by us,” she said, adding that responsibility for border protection will rest with people from the region.

Ahmed also highlighted that certificates issued in the Kurdish educational institutions will be recognized by the Syrian government. She said education must take place in the “mother tongue,” calling it a fundamental right. A Syrian presidential decree has pledged guarantees for cultural, linguistic, land, and citizenship rights for Kurds.

<This is a developing story…

Inside the SDF–Damascus Agreement: Buying Time or a Path to Lasting Stability?
The agreement reached on January 30 between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Damascus marks an important, if potentially fragile, turning point in a rapidly deteriorating situation in northeast Syria. The fact that this agreement follows several earlier deals whose implementation ultimately failed inevitably casts doubt on whether the current one will be fully honored and implemented.

The deal is far from a major breakthrough, but it does avert an immediate slide into a much larger humanitarian and security catastrophe and paves the way for some form of stability. The agreement is effectively a declaration of the end of the Kurdish self-rule project as exercised by the SDF through the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES), but it leaves room for some measure of Kurdish self-administration in Hasakah and Kobani. Notably, however, the agreement says nothing about Afrin—the other Kurdish-majority region in northern Syria—which has been subjected to demographic change and systematic abuses since 2018.

Here are some initial analyses of what the current deal includes and what it represents:

>Positive Side:

On the positive side, the most immediate and tangible gain is the cessation of fighting. For local Kurdish communities, this comes as genuine relief. Over the past two weeks, since early January, residents had been bracing for the worst, based on the conduct of the Syrian Arab Army and its allied tribal militias, and the atrocities they had recently perpetrated in northeast Syria and elsewhere in the country over the past year. Around 150,000 Kurds were displaced during this short period alone. Stopping the violence at this stage is therefore an essential first step toward preventing a deeper humanitarian crisis.

Equally significant is the agreement’s language on the phased integration of SDF forces. Rather than dismantling the SDF outright—a demand Damascus had aggressively pushed in recent weeks—the deal envisages the SDF’s incorporation as organized units, with the formation of four brigades, including one in Kobani. This represents an important retreat by Damascus from its earlier insistence in the 18 January agreement that SDF fighters be absorbed individually after “vetting.” That notion was deeply problematic, as it would have stripped Kurds of any meaningful role in managing the security of their own areas. The 18 January agreement also implied that Kurds—who have fought every major iteration of Sunni jihadism in Syria over the past fifteen years, from ISIS to Jabhat al-Nusra—would be vetted by a security apparatus dominated by “former” jihadis. In both practical and moral terms, this was always a non-starter.

Today’s agreement also gestures toward civic and educational rights for Kurds and affirms the return of internally displaced Kurdish populations to their home areas. Both are positive in principle. Yet both remain vague, lacking timelines, enforcement mechanisms, or guarantees. If Kurdish educational rights will be confined to the framework of Decree 13 issued by President Ahmed al-Sharaa on January 16, it will not be acceptable to Kurds, as it reduces Kurdish to the status of a “hobby” language—one that is effectively even below English, which is taught as a foreign language in the Syrian educational system. Whether and how these provisions translate into reality will depend largely on the balance of power on the ground and the degree of pressure Damascus feels from major international powers, particularly Washington.

Just as important, the deal helps avert a looming threat to civil and social peace in the northeast. In recent weeks, Damascus’s military campaign against Kurds was accompanied by an intense campaign of dehumanization and hate speech against Kurds, amplified across Syrian and some Gulf-based Arabic-language media platforms. Left unchecked, this climate could easily have escalated into massacres against Kurdish and long-term Arab-Kurdish communal violence. In that sense, the agreement serves as a temporary firewall against ethnic conflict.

>The Downsides:

Still, the downsides are substantial. The entry of Damascus-affiliated General Security (GS) forces into Hasakah, Qamishli, and other Kurdish-majority towns is a major source of unease for local Kurds. While preferable to the deployment of regular Syrian army units—as the GS forces are more lightly armed—their presence is deeply unsettling for many locals. General distrust toward these units runs high, fueled by their record, their commanders’ reputations, and their extremist religious and discriminatory Arab nationalist attitudes toward Kurds. However, if the GS forces operate in coordination with local Kurdish forces, a modus vivendi could be developed whereby their presence in the northeast helps build mutual confidence, improves the Damascus–Kurdish relationship, and facilitates the return of key government services from Damascus to Kurdish-majority areas—such as the issuance of passports and identity documents and the granting of citizenship to tens of thousands of Kurds deprived of it since 1962. Some unverified reports, however, suggest that the entry of General Security forces into SDF-held areas has been postponed until Monday, a delay that could signal an early hurdle in implementing the agreement.

The January 30 agreement is also conspicuously silent on key political and administrative questions. There is no mention of Hasakah’s governorship or administrative status. There is no constitutional track to anchor Kurdish rights. There is no reference to Kurdish representation in the Syrian parliament. These omissions are notable because they leave Kurdish rights exposed to shifting political winds rather than institutionalized protections.

Militarily, while the reference to four SDF brigades is a step forward, the chain of command remains unclear. Brigades—unlike divisions—are typically subordinate to division commanders who may not be from the SDF. This ambiguity raises serious concerns about effective control and autonomy in practice. In previous agreements in late 2025, there was talk of turning the SDF into three divisions of the Syrian army in the northeast. At the time, the SDF was a much larger force than it is now, as it included thousands of Arab fighters within its ranks. Most of those Arab units have defected to Damascus’s side over the past couple of weeks. These unresolved details are potential landmines, much like those that derailed earlier agreements, including the landmark March 10, 2025 understanding between SDF commander General Mazloum Abdi and interim President al-Sharaa.

<Broader Significance and Context:

Taken together, today’s agreement represents a middle-ground outcome. It falls well short of the SDF’s original demands for federalism or meaningful autonomy, yet it goes beyond what Damascus was willing to concede in the 18 January proposal.

The deal appears to have been born of the new reality on the ground, in which Kurdish forces have demonstrated a willingness to resist a military push by Damascus into Kurdish-majority areas. It also reflects growing opposition to Sharaa’s campaign and treatment of Kurds, which has raised serious concerns in some quarters in Washington, particularly on Capitol Hill. The Save the Kurds Act, introduced by Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal, was a clear manifestation of this shifting mood in Washington, even though there is no guarantee it will ultimately become law.

The agreement also reflects the sense that Washington does not support the full dismantling of the SDF, particularly given the grave security risks posed by the escape or release of dozens—possibly hundreds—of ISIS prisoners and their family members from camps. . U.S. Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack’s call on January 29 for “the continued focus and partnership of all parties” in the fight against ISIS appeared to foreshadow today’s deal as it pointed to a U.S. preference for preserving the SDF as a local bulwark against jihadist resurgence, walking back earlier perceptions of tacit support for Damascus’s push to dissolve it.

The agreement indeed appears to enjoy broad regional and international support. Statements from the United States, the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and neighboring countries—including Jordan—suggest a shared interest in stabilizing northeast Syria and preventing further escalation. Ambassador Barrack described the deal as a “profound and historic milestone in Syria’s journey toward national reconciliation, unity, and enduring stability.” Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) President Masoud Barzani, who has been deeply involved in efforts to defuse SDF-Damascus tensions, likewise welcomed the agreement following a phone call with Barrack. Barzani said he conveyed his “sincere gratitude to the President of the United States and to all parties who contributed to resolving the issues through dialogue,” emphasizing the agreement’s importance in consolidating peace.

However, it is important to note that overall we’re now dealing with a new reality where the SDF is negotiating from a general position of weakness compared to a month ago. That weakness underscores the need for a unified Kurdish negotiating front. As I argued in a recent policy piece for the Foreign Policy Research Institute, any serious attempt to improve outcomes must include the Syrian Kurdish National Council (KNC), the other major Kurdish group in Syria alongside the SDF and its political affiliates. The option of bringing the Roj Peshmerga—affiliated with the KNC—into the equation should be also on the table. This would strengthen Kurdish leverage, as the KNC–Roj Peshmerga’s ties to actors such as the KDP in Iraqi Kurdistan, and their better relations with Damascus, Ankara, and Washington, could help enhance the Kurdish negotiating position.

The agreement could endure or simply represent a mutual effort to buy time. Whether it leads to a broader and more durable political arrangement—or merely postpones another round of confrontation—will depend on the strategic calculations of key actors, including Damascus, Ankara, the SDF, and Washington, as well as the trajectory of events in Syria and the region more broadly, particularly the outcome of the current U.S.–Iran standoff.

SPECIAL - Russia: We support the protection of Kurdish rights
Moscow (Rudaw) - Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced that the parties have agreed on a ceasefire, but fighting and clashes continue in some areas east of the Euphrates, and they are concerned about this.

Zakharova also emphasized that they support the protection of Kurdish rights.

In response to Rudaw's questions, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova discussed the content of the last meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian Interim President Ahmed Sharda, which took place in the Kremlin on December 28.

Maria stated that the situation in Syria and Western Kurdistan was discussed during those meetings and said:

"We are concerned that despite the parties having agreed on a ceasefire, reports of continued fighting and clashes are being reported from various areas east of the Euphrates."

"In these circumstances, ensuring the safety of civilians is undoubtedly a priority."

Kurdish rights and dialogue with Damascus

Regarding Russia's mediation between the Syrian government and the Kurds to ensure constitutional rights, she emphasized that Moscow's position has not changed and said:

"We are convinced that the path to long-term sustainable peace in northeastern Syria and the entire country lies through a comprehensive dialogue."

Zakharova also pointed out that the dialogue should strengthen national unity and take into account the interests of all components, including the Kurds.

"Russia also welcomes the Syrian Presidential Decree No. 13 of December 16, which specifically guarantees the rights of the Kurds."

Mazloum Abdi: The Syrian army will not enter Kurdish areas
The Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, said in a special program on Ronahi TV that the meeting took place on January 27 with the head of the interim government, Ahmed El Shari, and then this morning there was a telephone conversation, and an agreement was announced to stop the war. This agreement was made in order to prevent a major genocide plan against the Kurdish people. There was no movement by international forces and the international community against this plan.

<ARTICLES OF THE AGREEMENT

Abdi stated that according to the agreement, the interim government forces will not enter Kurdish cities and villages. The task of protecting these areas will be the responsibility of the Internal Security Forces, saying: "We agreed that a limited and specific force from the General Security will enter the security quadrant of Qamishli and Hasakah, with only administrative duties, to follow the integration process with the Internal Security Forces."

<STRENGTHENING THE IDENTITY OF KURDISH REGIONS

Abdi said that the agreement strengthened the specificity of the Kurdish regions in all administrative, military, security and political aspects. Military forces will not enter any Kurdish village or city. The administration of these regions will be carried out by the people and employees of Cizre and Kobanê. SDF forces will also organize themselves according to brigades in these two regions.

<RELEASING THE SIEGE FROM KOBAN

Abdi announced that the siege on Kobanê would be lifted. On February 2, the agreement came into effect, with SDF and interim government forces withdrawing from the Cizre and Kobanê fronts. This agreement later included the regions of Afrin and Serêkaniyê, as they are Kurdish regions.

<INSTITUTION AND GUARANTEE

Regarding this issue, Abdi announced that all employees of the institutions affiliated with the Autonomous Administration will be integrated into the institutions affiliated with the interim government and continue their duties. Regarding international guarantees, the US president spoke with the Syrian president and supported the agreement. The French president also said that he would be the political guarantor of the agreement.

<ETERNAL PLACE AND RESPONSIBILITY AFTER THE COVENANT

Regarding his position and responsibilities after the agreement, Mazloum Abdi said: "I will work to develop Kurdish unity among my people. I rejected all proposals related to my future, I preferred to remain among the people and work on Kurdish unity."

Abdi continued: "We know that most of our people are dissatisfied with this agreement. But at this stage, this was the appropriate and current choice. Therefore, we tell our people to be calm and confident."

<RETURN OF INTERESTS

Regarding this issue, Abdi announced that he had agreed with the government to return all the hostages to their families, as this is a fundamental humanitarian step in the agreement and is intended to end the hardships of the families and strengthen trust between the parties.

<PRIDE WITH THE KURDISH PEOPLE

Abdi expressed his pride and joy at the Kurdish people and Kurdistan who have risen up and stood by their forces, and said that this attitude of the people has created a change in public opinion and is the reason why this agreement has been reached. Abdi sent his greetings to the people of Kurdistan, Kurdish forces and political parties.

<GREETINGS AND A CALL BACK

SDF Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi finally saluted the resistance of the people of the region, saying that they will continue the struggle until all legitimate rights are realized, and called on the displaced to return to their homes, especially the people of the city of Hasakah.

Another battalion was formed in the Xerbi neighborhood of Qamishli.
Within the framework of mobilization, battalions are formed and patrols are carried out in order to protect their lands and neighborhoods. In the Xerbi neighborhood of Qamishlo city, youth formed a battalion named after the martyr Sozê.

During the formation of the battalion, Newroz Barfi made a statement with a sly grin.
The statement said that the entire population of the neighborhood is ready to stand alongside their YPJ and YPG forces against attacks against the region..

SOHR: Despite the agreement, there is widespread looting in the Kobanê countryside.
According to SOHR, elements of the Transitional Government forces, along with individuals from surrounding villages, targeted civilian homes in the villages of Celabiye and Harab Ashk. Taking advantage of the forced displacement and the resulting security vacuum in the region, these groups looted household goods, agricultural tools, livestock, and food supplies, destroying the villages' entire livelihood.

Despite the looting and vandalism occurring during the days when the implementation of the agreement was expected, the attacks did not stop, and due to the military escalation and intense bombardment, the villagers were forced to take refuge in the city center of Kobanê. According to the statement, the displaced civilians left behind years of hard work, memories, and their lives.

SOHR reported that the humanitarian conditions of displaced families living under siege in Kobanê are deteriorating, access to basic necessities has been almost completely cut off, and public services have come to a standstill. It emphasized that poverty and the risk of disease have increased significantly, particularly among children and the elderly.

SOHR stated that the looting of civilians' property was not only a violation of property rights, but also deepened the psychological and social devastation experienced by the population and destroyed their hopes of return and rebuilding their lives.

The observatory called on the international community and humanitarian organizations to take urgent action to lift the siege of Kobanê, ensure the safe return of civilians, and protect the property of the people from looting and confiscation.

Kidnapped child killed in Aleppo after 20 days, government hides perpetrators
A child named Mihemed Ehmed El Assaf was kidnapped by unknown individuals in the Al-Shaar neighborhood of Aleppo. The child's body was found 20 days later.

According to reports, the child's family paid 3,000 dollars to the kidnappers for their son's release, but he was killed despite that.

Hours after the child's body was found, the interim government's security forces announced that they had arrested the person who had kidnapped the child, which raised many questions and suspicions. People are asking why the perpetrator was not identified for 20 days, but was identified and arrested just hours after the child's murder.

Government forces did not release the perpetrator's photo or name, raising the possibility that the government is protecting some parties involved in the crime.

Activists said the incident was not an isolated incident, but a sign of the deteriorating security situation and the collapse of the justice system. Activists said the child, named Muhammad Al-Asaf, was "killed twice," once by the kidnappers and once by authorities who covered up the details of the crime.

Activists called for a transparent investigation so that the perpetrators can be identified and brought to justice.

>>2677536
As if a liberal "democratic confederalist" bourgeois project is more progressive than a liberal turkish state when they operate on the same mode of production

>>2678171
It's progressive insofar as it's an obstacle to complete NATO domination of Syria.

>>2678173
Then its reactionary because thats exactly what Bashar's Syria functioned for before the SDF took in FSA islamists to fight against Bashar

>>2678203
The SDF never fought against Bashar, in fact they cooperated with him and his allies at times. Regardless, even if that were true, Assad is gone and the collective West has bailed on the Kurds and thrown their weight behind the STG. If you were honest in your convictions you would now regard the SDF as an anti-imperialist force based on the current situation.

>>2678268
>noooo kurds were goooood they didn't fight assad, they had militant islamists do it for them! Kurds themselves merely took over the dam and stole oil revenues from tyrant's regime, they did nothing wrong, ever!

By the way, what's happening to Kurdistan now that militant islamists and moderate rebels took over the dam and all?

>>2678275
>>noooo kurds were goooood they didn't fight assad
They literally didn't. The SAA and SDF mostly avoided each other and sometimes they even cooperated directly, conducting joint operations against rebels or joint administration of certain areas.
>they had militant islamists do it for them!
Also wrong. The SDF and SAA spent most of the conflict fighting a common enemy, i.e. the Islamists. As I said before, sometimes they did this together in joint military operations.
>Kurds themselves merely took over the dam and stole oil revenues from tyrant's regime
The Kurds took over territory after capturing it from ISIS. The government abandoned it and so the SDF took responsibility for their own defence. Would you prefer that it be left to ISIS and the other terrorists?
>they did nothing wrong, ever
Of course they did things wrong. They should never have cooperated with the Americans and they should have been more flexible when it came to reintegration talks with the Ba'athists. However your understanding of the events of the war and the relationship of the SDF to the Ba'athists is simply not based in reality.
>By the way, what's happening to Kurdistan now that militant islamists and moderate rebels took over the dam and all?
There is no "Kurdistan" since the PYD aren't separatists and wanted to remain part of Syria. But they'll probably be snuffed out as a result of their failure to come to an agreement with the Ba'athists, a result that came in part from the latter's intransigence to acknowledge the reality of Rojava's self-determination. Idk why you're smug about this, since it's clear by this point that refusal to accept this reality destroyed the Ba'athists before it destroyed the SDF.

All of this is entirely beside the point. If you were actually opposed to Western dominance in the region you would examine the situation as it actually exists and look to see which forces are advancing Western interests and which forces are combating them. At the moment the STG is advancing them, and the SDF is combatting them. If this isn't enough to make you support them then it's obvious this was never really about anti-imperialism, but was just entertainment for you.

>>2678281
>which forces are advancing Western interests
Kurds.

>which forces are combating them

Assad. Was, i mean. Now it's Turkish proxy Syria versus Israeli proxy Kurds.

I'm just gonna say the same thing as when HTS became government: This is what you wanted

There was one, exactly one and no more, anti-imperialist position to have during the dirty war on Syria. A single blunt statement lacking of all "nuance" and requiring no study:

HANDS OFF SYRIA

Everyone else (including Ziggers) wanted exactly what's happening now. And "wanted" really is the keyword here because at the end of the day, your support was not needed. Nothing you said, nothing you learned and nothing you did changed the matters on the ground. Even the people larping as international brigades amount to nothing when NATO says the clay rightly belongs to ISIS.

The choice was:

>Addressing the policies of states where you live and hover power, however minimal, with regards to Syria.

<OR
>Playing fantasy football about it while events unfold IRL to the machinations of liberalism.

See also: Palestine,Sudan, DRC, Venezuela, Cuba, maybe Iran and Ethiopia soon (don't @ me, I just skim the news. Hindsight bias blablabla).

>>2678289
If the Kurds are advancing Western interests then why isn't the West supporting them against the STG? They're doing the opposite actually, and falling in behind the new government. So why don't you support the people fighting that government?
>Now it's Turkish proxy Syria versus Israeli proxy Kurds.
There's absolutely nothing to suggest that the SDF were ever an Israeli proxy. Israel never provided them with arms, funding, or any other support.

SYRIA: A BLURRING PICTURE THAT HIDES THE PERPETRATOR AND EXPOSES THE KURDS

There is so much misunderstanding regarding the Syrian issue that one is totally confused. Kurds are being totally exposed for having worked with USA, and are being demonized and accused of treason. First , not all Syrian Kurds worked under US orders. Second, one forgets that the Syrian rule did not protect its people . Not one time the Syrians were protected . Most of the time they had to provide for themselves. Many slaughters occurred in Adra, in Ma’loula, in Tadmur in Tabqa airport , in Jisr al Shughur and other places like Fou’a and Kafarya who for years remained totally exposed, besieged by ISIS, waiting in vain for the Syrian Army to come to their help, and when part of them was evacuated as part of a deal struck between the Syrian rule and the terrorist thugs , they were targeted on their way out and killed .

What will happen usually is that the army will evacuate its positions and will flee before ISIS leaving the population defenseless . This happened in Ma’loula, and also in Tadmur. The Kurds also like other Syrians, had no one to protect them and ward off the attacks on them . They needed weapons , but the Syrian rule did not accept- for some reason- that Iran arms them so that they defend themselves . Why is the Syrian rule being absolved all the way from this crime of total neglect? And what kind victory Assad is reaping when he failed in protecting his people? And why blame the Kurds and not the Syrian rule that left thousands of Syrians totally exposed and unprotected. And last but not least, when the Syrian rule has brought Russia to Syria, and surrendered its will to Putin, and when it accepted that the Coalition strikes Syria, and that NATO Turkey occupies Jarablus , al Baab and Afrin how could it blame the Kurds for operating under US orders?

While the Kurds could be justified for working under US orders, there is no justification for bringing Russia into Syria under the pretext that Assad the father was allied with the USSR that no more exists, and favoring remote Russia over Syria’s direct strong allies of the Axis of the Resistance, and going on this terror/anti terror trip that is Russia’s world order agenda .There is no justification for this at all, and why this happened needs to be answered

ATTEMPTS AT UNDERSTANDING TURKS AND KURDS

The Kurds of Turkey are an oppressed people by all standards. The Turks have always tried to demonize `the Kurds and usurp their rights. They always `accused them of terrorist acts . The Turks have taken the Kurds as enemies since long . The Turks have an enemy in their own country and they have created this enemy by discarding the Kurds who form a little bit less than the third of the population of Turkey .
The Turks are not a` normal people . They are among the rare countries who committed genocide against others . They have not yet acknowledged the Genocide they committed against Armenians . There are many reasons for this odd behavior that made the Turks fully eligible to carry on the world order scheme that they have fully endorsed . It is not just the fact that they are militaries who descend from the Ottomans who ruled for centuries the Islamic world by their military power , it is because of the process of acculturation they were subject to . . It is enough that they adopted the Latin alphabet as their own to notice that they have become alienated from their own language and from their culture and from their Religion also .

The Turks- in general – no doubt- have an identity crisis , and they are lost as to who they are . Are they Muslims or secular ? Are they Europeans or Easterners ? All these unresolved issues qualify them to carry on western colonialist schemes. and make the predator invest in them as vehicles for his vicious endeavors . The Turks are very much like israel in this but to a lesser extent of course , because they still are a people . israel is` an artificial people`with an artificial language. They are not a people, but they have this in common with the Turks that they carry on world order schemes and impose them and implement them .

What is worrying regarding Turkey is that the people themselves have identified with these world order schemes. knowingly or unknowingly . Imagine that someone like war monger Erdogan who is monitoring terror in Syria and sustaining and training thousands of terrorist thugs, has almost half of the Turks fully supporting him in whatever endeavor he carries on . Imagine that half the Turks – some say 40% – agree with what Erdogan has been doing and is still doing to Syrians in Syria. Imagine that they accept to have – for president – one of the main sponsors of terror world wide. This is a very high proportion that no other dictator maybe enjoys among his people . And the remarkable thing is these 50 or 40% so to speak support Erdogan because he adheres to Islam , and they are the ones who want Turkey to have a Muslim identity that they think Erdogan is conferring to the country, and they accept that in the name of this identity , their ruler commits massacres and kills and displaces and loots and abducts hundreds of thousands of Muslims in Syria and Iraq which Erdogan has been doing for the last fifteen years without relapse . And not only this , but the Turks turn a blind eye on all this exchange with israel at all levels : military , economic, cultural, that makes israel one of the major partners of Turkey , and this has increased lately under Erdogan’s rule like never before whereby these exchanges have reached an unprecedented level .

It is understandable that secular military NATO Turkey take these stands against other Muslim countries` and operates against them because of the Turkish military secular affinity with Europe and with colonialist Europe , but it is not understandable that the Muslim Brother that Erdogan pretends to be and for which he has been elected by millions, becomes in charge of destroying Muslim countries for the benefit of israel while still enjoying this extent of popularity and unconditional support from those who brought him to power for his Muslim qualifications . The reason is that the Turks and specifically the Turks committed to Islam and who vote for Erdogan are out of touch with their Religion and culture and they think Islam to be something else other than what it is . They think that Islam is Erdogan, and that Erdogan is Islam , and that this is all for the benefit of Islam.

In comparison with the Turks , the Kurds cannot carry such schemes to the end, nor do they fully qualify to be vehicles for the world order conspiracies and NATO colonial plots against poor countries, and the reason is that the Kurds have their own national project, and a strong adherence to their culture with which they identify , and which they protect by all ways and means . And even if their interests at some point intersect with those of the World order , and even if they serve this world order and open up to israel like Barazani in Erbil , and even when they host israelis, and coordinate with them at many levels , this relation cannot gain priority over their own project of independence and cultural autonomy. This is why the Kurds- in general – even when they are complacent and working against the national interest , cannot be invested – for a long term – with a scheme that is totally destructive to Nations . While the Turks who are pan islamists without knowing what true Islam is, thinking Islam to be military power, and who think them selves culturally superior to others while being alienated from their own culture, could represent a real danger for themselves and for others .

The interim government delegation has arrived in Qamishlo.
As part of the implementation of the agreement signed between the SDF and the Syrian interim government on January 30, a limited number of security forces belonging to the Ministry of Interior of the Interim Government of Damascus entered the city of Qamishlo today under the supervision of the Cizîre Canton Internal Security Forces.
According to the agreement, government-affiliated domestic security forces and regional security forces will work together on integration.
Yesterday, some of the internal security forces affiliated with the Interim Government also crossed into Hesekê.

Security forces in Damascus and the Autonomous Administration: We have ensured coordination.
In accordance with the agreement reached between the SDF and the Syrian Interim Government on January 30, a delegation from the Ministry of Interior's internal security forces, affiliated with the interim government, entered Qamishlo. The parties exchanged views on the procedures that were put into effect today. A statement was then released.

Expressing their satisfaction with the agreement, Helime Mahmûd Ebû Bekir, a member of the General Command of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria, stated, “We welcome this meeting between the SDF and the Syrian Interim Government. We are calling for peace, not war. We are committed to the full implementation of the results of the meeting.” Ebû Bekir concluded her statement with the slogan “Jin, Jiyan, Azadî” (Women, Life, Freedom).

In a statement, Mehmûd Xelîl Elî (Siyabend Efrîn), one of the commanders of the Internal Security Forces of Northern and Eastern Syria, stated that a ceasefire had been reached, saying, “The second phase of the negotiations took place with the passage of forces to Qamişlo and Hassekê. These passages were made yesterday and today.”

Stating that the work will continue in other phases as well, Siyabend Efrîn emphasized that the primary goal is for the military forces of both sides to return to their main points. Efrîn said, "So far, no obstacles have arisen. We will continue in this way."

Nureddin El Baba, an official from the Syrian Interim Government's Ministry of Interior, stated, "Today we crossed into Qamishlo without any problems. We established strong coordination with the Asayish (security forces). We thank them for their efforts and warm welcome." El Baba added that forces affiliated with the Ministry of Interior would work with the Asayish to implement security arrangements and ensure security in accordance with the agreement.

El Baba continued, “This process has created a positive atmosphere on all sides. The Syrian people needed this today. The Syrian people, with all their components, have achieved this. Today, a new chapter has been opened to rebuild Syria free from conflict, sectarian rhetoric, and division. Hasakah maintains its position as the heart of the country.”

El Baba concluded by expressing hope that all terms of the agreement would be fully implemented.

Provisional Government gangs attacked Suweida.
The Suwayda National Guard Command announced that Transitional Government forces stationed in the towns of Mansura, Rima Hazim, and Welga attacked the west and northwest of Suwayda city with 23mm mortar rounds.
The command added that the forces responded to the source of the attacks within the framework of civilian protection and regional stability.

YPJ Commander: The people’s resistance has become like breath for the fighters
Milîtan Efrîn, a commander in the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), delivered important assessments regarding the latest phase of the war and resistance in Aleppo. She explained that the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah have been subjected to violent attacks since January 6, but that the will of the people and the fighters has become an unbreakable shield.

<Facing brutality, an epic of sacrifice

Milîtan Efrîn drew attention to the heroism embodied by martyrs such as Zîyad Heleb and Deniz, saying: “Our comrades resisted with devoted hearts and unparalleled bravery. They did not surrender to the occupation and inflicted painful blows on the enemy. This attack does not only aim to occupy the lands of Western Kurdistan, but to annihilate the Kurdish people.”
She stated that gangs of the occupying Turkish state are carrying out brutal attacks in cooperation with mercenaries from Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, and that these assaults observe no humanitarian standards: “Children, the elderly, old people, and women. The blood-thirsty enemy makes no distinction between anyone. But let it be known that this people never abandons its children — its fighters. Because we come from this people and this land, our resistance is inseparably tied to them.”

<Thousands of Zîyad and Deniz on this path

The YPJ Commander added that despite the enemy’s attempts to break their will through special warfare methods and so-called “ceasefire” tricks, the solidarity of the Kurdish people across Kurdistan has only grown stronger.
“The echo of this solidarity has spread throughout the world. Our braids will become a nightmare for the invaders. Each time they begin cutting our braids, we will spread thousands of new braids. Today, on this land, newborn children are being given the names of martyrs. Our children will not only be symbols of beauty, but a treasure that will bring down the occupation.”
Concluding her speech, Milîtan Efrîn delivered the following message: “As the Women’s Protection Units, we will remain on the battlefield until victory. We are open to any kind of alliance and dialogue, but the protection of our people is our red line. As our martyrs have said: ‘If there is anything more precious than our lives, we are ready to sacrifice ourselves for this people.’ We embrace our people with all our hearts and send them our love from the battlefronts.”

ˋWe will defend the achievements of our revolutionˊ
The residents of Rojava who are defending their cities and neighborhoods said they will be in the neighborhoods, protect the achievements of the Rojava Revolution, and prevent the enemy from entering their areas.

A guard from the city of Qamishlo stated that they are standing by their fighters against threats and wolves, saying, "The Rojava revolution began with women and will be victorious through their struggle. Just as we defeated ISIS gangs and expelled them from our regions, we will do the same to anyone who attacks."

As part of the general mobilization, the residents of all regions of Western Kurdistan are on their feet, guarding and protecting against current threats day and night.

Kobani Autonomous Administration delegation returns from Aleppo
Delegation member Abdulrehman Demir stated that the people of Kobanê are waiting for the discussions in Aleppo and said: "The language of agreement and dialogue was at the forefront. We wanted to close the past page and open a new one, so that we can manage Kobanê together, its security and its institutions together."
Mizgin Xelîl also said about the meeting: "We went to Aleppo based on the invitation of the Aleppo province, which is affiliated with the Damascus government in Syria. After the agreement made on January 30, one of the points of that agreement is that Kobanê will be affiliated with Aleppo province in terms of administration and security, as in the previous system. That is why we went to Aleppo province for the first time for work and problems."

Mizgin drew attention to the meeting that took place and said: "The military forces affiliated with the Damascus government, which are currently in many rural areas of Kobanê, must leave so that the displaced people in Kobanê can easily enter their villages. In addition, many other problems and the siege we are currently in and many daily needs, water, electricity and many vital problems are also emerging. Further pointing to the division that has been made in Syria, these differences within Syria bring with them a richness that people should protect more and live in peace, away from hostility, war, conflict and unrest."

SDF issues statement regarding meeting in Erbil
SDF Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi, SDF General Command member Rohilat Afrin, and Co-Head of the Autonomous Administration's Foreign Relations Department Ilham Ehmed met with French Foreign Minister Jean Noel Barrot in Erbil yesterday.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Press Office issued a statement regarding the meeting.

The statement said that the meeting discussed the methods and mechanisms for implementing the January 29 agreement, adding, "It was emphasized that the agreement must be fully implemented. The continuation of the joint struggle against the ISIS organization, ensuring security, and detention centers for the organization's fighters and their families were also discussed."

The statement pointed out that the meeting specifically discussed the importance of protecting the characteristics of Kurdish regions and protecting the rights of the Kurdish people in Syria.

According to the statement, the issue of integrating military and security forces, including the Women's Protection Units (YPJ), was discussed in all its details, to serve the security of the entire region.

The statement noted that the French Foreign Minister expressed his country's support for the implementation of the agreement and stressed the importance of this process in strengthening security and continuing the fight against terrorism.

It also emphasized the importance of the return of displaced people to their regions, especially Afrin and Serêkaniyê, and the importance of active participation at the national level in order to achieve a comprehensive political solution that ensures the rights of all components of the Syrian people. The SDF Commander-in-Chief praised the positive role of France in this process, which supported peace and stability efforts."

They were financed from taxes and oil revenues from the territory they controlled. They did get assistance from the US but they also got assistance from Russia and the Syrian government. They also used that assistance to fight against the region's only NATO member. It's obvious that they always had their own interests and agenda that at times aligned with that of the US, but also brought them into alignment with some of America's enemies and into conflict with some of their allies. You guys keep peddling this tired nonsense that is so easily debunked by anybody who knows even the basic facts and chronology of the conflict, all to justify an attitude that proved to be suicidal and self destructive by preventing a final reconciliation between the SDF and the Ba'athists. You people are taking the exact wrong lessons from this whole thing. For some reason you think that the correct response is to dig in your heels and refuse to concede or cooperate with anybody that isn't 100% aligned with you on all issues, but this this approach (among both the SDF and Damascus) that led directly to the defeat of the Ba'athist government.

The people are protecting their achievements with responsibility and a strong spirit.
The people of Rojava are defending their neighborhoods, streets, achievements, and sacrifices of their martyrs as part of a general mobilization.
In neighborhoods, streets, and villages, strong, mature women are standing guard in an impressive manner. This scene shows the high level of responsibility and collective spirit of the community.
Residents on guard say that this step demonstrates the solidarity of the people, the practice of the Autonomous Administration's method of community participation in maintaining security, that protection is not only the responsibility of military forces, but that society as a whole is responsible.

HTS gangs attacked areas west of Sweida
The Sweida National Guard Command announced that interim government forces attacked the western fronts of Sweida with artillery, mortars, and drones from this morning until this afternoon.
The command recalled that government forces attacked the town of Majdal with 8 mortar shells, one of which penetrated into the neighborhoods, and a group also tried to enter the town of Mazraa. However, National Guard units responded to these attacks.
The command called on residents to ignore sedition and fake pages and to obtain their information only from official sources, to avoid confusion among citizens.

The siege of Kobanê continues: Turkish soldiers have been digging trenches on the Kobanê border for 9 days
HTS, ISIS and Turkish-affiliated groups continue to lay siege to Kobanê despite the ceasefire and agreements made. Since January 29, trenches have been dug under military supervision on both sides of the Murşitpınar Border Gate, near the border wall.
Under the supervision of soldiers, excavators are digging trenches along the border wall and the soil from these trenches is being removed to build mounds. Although the excavators were stopped for two days due to heavy rain, excavation resumed today.
In addition, the construction of at least five military checkpoints from Suruç to the Murşitpınar border crossing prevents the movement of villagers. At these military checkpoints, the villagers' identities are checked.

Kobani administration: Despite promises, the interim government has not taken any steps
The Kobanê administration issued a statement regarding its negotiations with the Aleppo governorate administration.
The statement reads: "In accordance with the January 29 agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the interim government in Damascus, the first step was taken in the Shekhler district and integration was carried out between the security forces in that area.".

In order to resolve the problems of the residents and return the displaced to their homes, a meeting was held in the countryside of Kobanê between the Kobanê Administration and the deputy governor of Aleppo, with the presence of Kurdish and Arab elders. The meeting ended with positive results, including the deputy governor of Aleppo, on behalf of the governor, inviting the Kobanê Administration to visit Aleppo for a meeting..

<'MILITARY FORCES WERE NOT WITHDRAWN, THE SIEGE WAS NOT RELEASED'

Upon the invitation of the Kobanê Autonomous Administration, a delegation of the administration and elders of Kobanê traveled to the city of Aleppo on February 5 to meet with the governor. There, the meeting took place with the deputy governor and the commander of the Internal Security Forces of Aleppo province. Many important files related to the region were discussed at the meeting; primarily the practical steps taken in the Şêxler district and the steps that should be taken in the Çelebiyê district to ensure the return of all residents to their villages. Service issues such as the interruption of water, electricity and internet were also discussed. However, despite the promises made by government representatives at the meeting, no concrete steps have been taken by the government so far, especially the withdrawal of military forces from Çelebiyê and the lifting of the siege on the city of Kobanê..

'THE CALLING OF 'AYN AL ARAB' IS COUNTERFEIT'

In this context, we, as the Kobanê Administration, confirm that the statements published in the press later do not serve to resolve the problems and do not in any way comply with the content of the agreement. Furthermore, the designation of Kobanê as a "district" and the insistence on using the name "Ayn El Arab" are contrary to the truth and realities on the ground..

<'THE GOVERNMENT OF DAMASCUS MUST FULFILL ITS DUTIES'

We reiterate our commitment to the terms of the agreement and its implementation on the ground, and we are ready to fulfill our responsibilities to move this process forward. We call on the government in Damascus to fulfill its obligations and complete the necessary steps, in particular the withdrawal of military forces from villages within the administrative boundaries of the Kobani region, the lifting of the siege on the city, and the removal of obstacles to the provision of basic services to the population.."

Protest against electricity price hike in Hama
In the city of Salamiyeh, which is located in Hama, people organized an action. The residents held banners reading "We are at the torch, you are at the lamp.".
According to information provided by the participants of the event, electricity is only available for a few hours and from time to time, and electricity bills are very expensive. They also said that this problem is not being monitored and is causing them a heavy financial burden..

The participants of the event demanded that the billing system be reviewed and this problem be resolved..
Also in Damascus, people protested in front of the Ministry of Energy building due to the high cost of electricity, saying that electricity bills were too high and they could not afford to pay them..

The women of Kobani marched to defend the achievements of the revolution.
Hundreds of women in the besieged city of Kobanê held a march under the slogan "With the will of the resistant woman, we will defend the revolution and our existence" to protect the achievements of the Rojava revolution.

The march started from the Free Women Square. The Kongra Star flags and the Green, Red and Yellow flags were carried during the march. The slogans "Women Live Freedom", "Resistance is Life" and "Long Live the Resistance of Rojava" were also raised.

The march stopped at Martyr Egîd Square and a minute of silence was observed. Then, the member of the Coordination of Kongra Star in the Firat Canton, Xunav Xelîl, spoke and said: "We will protect the achievements of the Rojava revolution with the will of the resistant woman. The woman resisted the occupation and conspirators and proved to the world that women have power and can shake the world."

Xûnav Xelîl condemned the cutting of the YPJ fighter's head by a gang member and said: "There are millions of heads. Women started the revolution with their heads and they are still resisting with their heads. We will resist and protect the achievements of the Rojava revolution and the existence of women."

The march ended with the slogans "Resistance is life" and "Women Live Freedom".

DAANES Israel is not a NATO proxy, as evidenced by their clashes with ISIS and Turkey. HTS neither, as they too did split and occasionally clash with other headchoppers sponsored by Turkey.

Also, Russia, like DAANES was just there to be a good ally for the Syrian government which asked for help. They like fighting 'terrists.

The GWoT was about fighting terrorism and AQ and ISIS.

Finally, the Golan Heights are rightful al-Nusra Israeli Druze clay as such is their right of self determination. The presence of Israeli basesand troops and their official claim to a buffer zone reaching Damascus is merely a coincidence, product of the rightful fight against ISIS 'trrrism.

Also the SDF didn't keep tens of thousands of arab civilians in sex-segregated concentration camps for the better part of a decade with no legal justification. At the behest of NATO.

They were dangerous ISIS prisoners of war, foreigners, awaiting transportation to third countries and the locals love the Kurdish new government and would never join ISIS to get rid of their occupation new administration.

throwback to the time in and around May 2024 when the media talked about HTS as if it was a second Assad regime, using torture prisons, eliminating political rivals, authoritarian governing etc and made it seem like the Northwest was about to fall into a civil war of its own.

I am 110% sure the article that I remembered (but didn't find) even wrote something like that the images on Idlib's strets were similar to what happened before the Syrian civil war against Assad started more than a decade ago, and it's so weird because at the time back in May, things were looking like Assad had for the most part won the civil war, re-attending the Arab league, European leaders considering cooperation with Syria again just to deport migrants etc etc.
It's honestly so weird, how the media echo'd this but then the second the December offensive started and went surprisingly better than expected, suddenly the sentiment completely changed and suddenly he went from authoritarian islamist to neoliberal savior with a rough past.

I can only hope that Syria will stay united and thrive and I think a lot of Syrians give Jolani some starting sympathy just for the fact that he's been able to almost full reconquer all of Syria. But if his governing style won't be a Assad 2.0 is yet to be seen, and if his previous governing of Idlib is anything to be taken into account for, then things aren't looking great. Honestly, the second the election starts and he gets less than 50% of the vote share, that's when the civil war restarts again, since the drafted constitution will give him 1/3 of the parliament seats in the first election, UNELECTED. and then he would still have an absolute majority despite losing the election.

Strikes and protests are growing in Idlib.
