Mexico to Resume Oil Shipments to Cuba
Sheinbaum clarified the distinction between different forms of support. “One thing is humanitarian aid, and the other is commercial agreements that we have with Cuba, and that also has to do with the shipment of oil”, she stated. She further elaborated that these commercial agreements have been in place “for decades, it is not new”, indicating a long-standing framework of cooperation between the two nations.

Clowns take to the streets of Bolivia to protest decree that could crush their livelihoods
Wearing full face paint and their signature red noses, the clowns gathered in front of the Ministry of Education in La Paz to oppose a decree published in February. The new mandate says schools must comply with 200 days of lessons each year — effectively banning schools from hosting the special events where these entertainers are frequently employed.

A week to forget for Milei: Adorni scandal, skeptical markets, cultural battle collapse
The administration's sole reprieve came Friday, when a U.S. court overturned Argentina's conviction in the 2012 partial expropriation of oil company YPF. Milei marked the ruling with a national broadcast that closed with an uncharacteristic “Long live the Fatherland,” but the celebration exposed a difficult contradiction for a libertarian government: cheering the successful outcome of state intervention against the private sector. The legal victory was internally capitalized by the team linked to presidential adviser Santiago Caputo, who regained ground against the Karina Milei faction after months of palace defeats.

Israel vows to occupy swathes of southern Lebanon to expand buffer zone
He added that all homes near the villages would be destroyed “in accordance with the Rafah and Beit Hanoun model in Gaza”. The Israeli military razed most homes and public infrastructure in both neighbourhoods of Gaza. Human Rights Watch has said that similar statements by Katz in the past week could amount to forced displacement and wanton destruction, which are war crimes.

Hundreds rally in the occupied West Bank against new Israeli death penalty for Palestinians
The law makes the death penalty, by hanging, the default punishment for West Bank Palestinians convicted of killing Israelis. It also gives Israeli courts the option of imposing the death penalty on Israeli citizens convicted on similar charges, which legal experts say confines those who can be sentenced to death to Palestinian citizens of Israel and excludes Jewish citizens.

US supreme court rules against Colorado ban on ‘conversion therapy’
An 8-1 high court majority sided with a Christian counselor who argued the law banning “conversion therapy” violates the first amendment. The justices agreed that the law raises free speech concerns and sent it back to a lower court to decide if it meets a legal standard that few laws pass. Neil Gorsuch, the justice writing for the court, said the law “censors speech based on viewpoint”. The first amendment, he wrote, “stands as a shield against any effort to enforce orthodoxy in thought or speech in this country”.

On the brink of war — and paying the price at home
THE world appears to be on the brink of a brutal escalation of the war in the Middle East. Some 10,000 US troops stand ready. Israel’s rulers are using the opportunity to extend their wars of territorial conquest in Lebanon, Syria and Palestine. Ukraine’s leader Volodymyr Zelensky is signing deals with Gulf sheikdoms for the supply of aggressive drone technology. Collateral damage is already being inflicted on those who can no longer afford to heat their homes or buy the food they need. What is the position of our own government? To equivocate. Factories in Britain still contribute to the production of weapons used by the US and Israel. Both in Britain and also, it seems, elsewhere in the Mediterranean and Pacific, British military bases still enable US planes to refuel and utilise their targeting technology. Our Prime Minister professes himself unhappy. Yet in the past week the Metropolitan Police, despite contrary legal judgements, have resumed prosecutions of anyone displaying support for an organisation whose crime it was to draw attention to Britain’s material complicity with Israel.

Barbecue, Empire, and Haiti’s Child Soldiers
As the group expands its control over the country, one glaring reality is that a significant portion of its armed members are under 18. Under the command of Jimmy Chérizier, known as “Barbecue,” and his former lieutenant, escaped kidnapper Kempès Sanon, Viv Ansanm deployed these armed youths to sack the sprawling neighborhoods of Solino. Their assault has displaced over 125,000 people across 24 different communities. “Viv Ansanm burned us out of our homes because we were one of the last bastions of peace and resistance left in Pòtoprens [Port-au-Prince],” said Ezayi Jules, a spokesperson for the community. “They reduced our neighborhoods to ashes. Now our families are homeless as Barbecue runs around everywhere talking about his “revolution.’” Beginning in 2018, Viv Ansanm and its predecessor, the G-9 gang alliance, have targeted and invaded neighborhoods that had long been bulwarks of popular resistance agains the interests of big capital and foreign domination. The numbers speak for themselves. Armed groups murdered more than 5,600 civilians in 2024, and at least 4,026 in the first five months of 2025. The police are no better. The corrupt and fractured National Haitian Police (Police Nationale d’Haïti, PNH), aided by a contingent of U.S.-financed mercenaries, prey upon the same populations as Viv Ansanm. According to one UN study, the police were responsible for 64 percent of the violence in a three-month period between April and June of this year.

Britain: 28 March – a show of strength for the left, but where next?
Last Saturday, up to half a million people marched on the streets of London at the inaugural national demonstration of the ‘Together Alliance’. Some have called it the biggest anti-racist protest in British history. The Revolutionary Communist Party organised a 300-strong Communist bloc, under the banner: “Down with the racists and the warmongers! Burn their system down!” See the report of our mobilisation below. This demonstration was – undeniably – a show of strength for the left, and a victory for the struggles against racism, the right wing, and the establishment. The 28 March demo outnumbered the size of the right-wing ‘Unite The Kingdom’ (UTK) demonstration last September, which was led by reactionary demagogue Tommy Robinson. As we commented at the time, the UTK demonstration – which outsized the left-wing counter-demonstration by at least ten-to-one – was not a true reflection of the balance of forces in society. We also remarked in our analysis that, if the leaders of the labour movement “lifted their little fingers, they could have matched the size of Tommy’s crowd”. That is exactly what we saw last Saturday: even the most rudimentary efforts by the left leaders to mobilise workers and youth were able to produce impressive results. 28 March was a glimpse of the real balance of class forces in Britain. In reality, the number of people prepared to mobilise against the establishment and the right wing is many times greater than those backing racism and reaction.
