Opinion on Myers-Briggs test?
Outside its use in the corporate work i think it can have uses.
I personaly think it can help on spiritual excercises but i already wanted to know if there is a marxist critique of it

I don't think it's a fully Marxist critique but here's one from a labour-focused perspective:
https://citationsneeded.medium.com/episode-159-the-anti-worker-pseudo-psychology-of-corporate-personality-testing-9c6c2d5aa49e
It goes over the genealogy of MBTI, its results in corporate use, problems of the methodology, etc. Give it a listen.

It's not totally useless, in that it can be used to help someone identify their own personality attributes, strengths and weaknesses.
That said for the most part it just gets treated as horoscope tier nonsense but for men / corporate exercises.

I'm ISFP

I remember a professor talking about these popular personality tests back in college, and he mentioned that MBTI specifically is a pure fad with literally 0 empirical research behind it, and even its theoretical base lies in Jungalian pseudoscience.

I remember thinking this thing was really cool when I was young and then becoming more skeptical of it when I tested as 3 different personalities over the course of several years. These days I would say it is a metaphysical framework rather than a dialectical framework. My criticisms of it are very similar to the political compass or astrology. It assigns a static value to a person which is entirely arbitrary even though people change very requently.

Good episode.

HR department core

Good nuff for initial assessment if u have le autism like me.
Otherwise worthless

Mine seems to change depending on what shitty online quiz I've taken. Usually ENFP or INFP

Jung's original interpretations of the functions have much more validity, MBTI is pure pop psychology based on that and the even more dumbed down version used now doesn't even really use Jung's functions.

I don't hate it, but Big 5 is more useful for practical analysis. You can predict political views with it and be reasonably accurate, for example, while MBTI is less useful for that purpose/more individual.

some OC for y'all

Despite the fact that it’s apparently pseudoscience, it consistently corresponded with who I get along with and who I don’t. I’ve scored INTJ for more than a decade and my friends and people I fuck are typically ENTP, ENFP and INFP, meanwhile I can’t stand xSxJ.

The big 5 only really seems to reliably calculate 3 of the items IE Introversion - Agreeableness - Neuroticism while the MBTI is shown to be utterly inconsistent with all of it's results. It is not unreasonable to assume that someone who got tested as an ISTJ will in 2 years take the test again and become an ENTP

I am INTP :)

MBTI gives me different shit everytime I take it at least astrology signs are consistent.

I need to prepare cyanide in collar or someplace else, if all goes well a bomb implant that tracks my vitals. No one is shooting me without collateral.

These tests are so fucking dumb; it's next to impossible not to realize what's going on 5 questions in and just start answering based on preferred outcome.

>gee-wilikers I had no idea I was an introvert because I preferred talking a walk alone instead of going to a party

Im very sorry Leftcom anon, Im so so sorry

>>2781290
I remember doing one those tests, don't think it was Myers-Briggs but something similar, and at the end it told you, among other things, what drug and mental illnesses you were likely to get (LSD and Schizophrenia for me).

>>2785390
what do you mean 'preferred outcome', you're supposed to tell the truth? if you don't do that you can't really blame the test

>>2784903
The only thing that changed the result was your answers, so you’re the inconsistent one.

>>2785479
True, but when I gave the test to friends I noticed that they would answer based on who they want to be rather than what they are actually like. That’s a potential problem for every test.

>>2781290
Why is this even allowed in /leftypol/ instead if si/b/eria?

>>2785429
That's ok.

>>2785390
I think there is quite a bit of value to be had in the original Jungian definition of the types but even then he mostly just focused on introvert/extrovert stuff.
Albeit being an introvert is less about being a loner and more about being subjective overall while an extrovert is someone who seeks to be objective.
