Overnight attacks target US centre at Baghdad airport: security officials
Several waves of departures from the US facility occurred on Saturday from the airport, according to another Iraqi security source, speaking on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter. "Eight separate attacks, carried out until dawn with rockets and drones, targeted the US centre," the senior security official told AFP, adding that "some rockets landed near the base".

Israeli forces number Palestinian women’s hands during Jenin invasion
The women, along with nearly 40,000 Palestinians, have been forcibly expelled by Israeli forces from Jenin and other camps in the northern West Bank following a military offensive that began in January 2025. The invasion has left much of the camps in ruins, while large areas remain inaccessible, with troops permanently stationed there. The 120 women were allowed into the camp for less than two hours, much of which was spent undergoing searches and waiting under heavy military surveillance, while following predetermined routes.

‘Too many women have been silenced by rogue employers using NDAs’
The measure aims to prevent the misuse of NDAs in cases of workplace harassment and discrimination. The consultation will consider the conditions needed for an NDA to remain valid in such cases, for example, if an employee requests the NDA or has received independent advice on its contents.

Rattled by Trump, US allies eye Japan’s biggest arms opening since WW2
Despite largely isolating itself from global arms markets since World War II, Japan spends enough on its own military – US$60 billion (S$76 billion) in 2026 – to sustain a sizeable defence industry capable of manufacturing advanced systems such as submarines and fighter jets. Among the potential new customers are the Polish military and Philippine navy, which are undergoing modernisation amid regional security challenges, according to Reuters interviews with Japanese officials and foreign diplomats in Tokyo.

2,000 urban poor residents set up camp at DSWD national office
According to Kadamay, the DSWD has been inutile and has no clear response to the needs of urban poor communities affected by the successive typhoons Crising, Dante, and Emong. The three typhoons hit the country from July 16 to 24, 2025—nearly a year ago. “Instead of taking action, the agency led on the victims in the repressive and deliberately sluggish bureaucracy,” the group said. The agency allegedly passed on to the urban poor the technical tasks such as forming the masterlist, which should’ve been the government’s responsibility.

In 47-52 Vote, Senate GOP Blocks Another Iran War Powers Resolution
Although the war launched by the US and Israel in late February has killed more than 1,700 civilians and sparked a global fuel crisis that has sent prices skyrocketing, that was not enough for 52 Republican senators—every one except libertarian Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.)—who voted to back the president even as the war further erodes his approval rating.

‘They want to keep denying us our rights’: workers in Vermont’s $5.4bn dairy industry fight for basic labor protections
the state has refused to codify rights for any of the state’s 8,300 farm workers, including roughly 1,000 undocumented workers, according to numbers provided by Migrant Justice, a Vermont-based human rights organization founded and led by farm workers. These workers remain exempt from minimum wage rules, overtime protections and the right to unionize. And increasing immigration enforcement has made them more legally vulnerable and kept them cloistered on farms.

US Senator Warren voices concern over Nvidia's acquisition of Slurm
SchedMD and Slurm are not household names. But the deal follows a pattern of Nvidia targeting under-the-radar companies whose technology serves as the glue holding the world's most powerful data centers and supercomputers together. In the letter, which was seen by Reuters, Warren asked for information about the extent to which computer systems in the U.S. departments of Energy and Defense are dependent on Nvidia's hardware and software products. Warren asked whether either department has assessed national security risks related to the SchedMD acquisition.

US jury finds Ticketmaster and Live Nation had anticompetitive monopoly
The verdict could cost Live Nation and Ticketmaster hundreds of millions of dollars, just for the $1.72 per ticket that the jury found Ticketmaster had overcharged consumers in 22 states. The companies could also be assessed penalties. In addition, sanctions could result in court orders that they divest themselves of some entities, including venues, such as amphitheatres that they own.

Your Party: what kind of socialist party does the British working class actually need in 2026?
THERE is a theoretical question at the heart of Your Party’s April 2026 decision on membership eligibility, and it deserves a serious answer — not a bureaucratic one. The question is this: what kind of socialist party does the British working class actually need in 2026? A disciplined vanguard, or a broad democratic mass party? An organisation built around the co-ordination of professional revolutionaries, or one built around the self-activity and democratic participation of the widest possible cross-section of the working class itself? The Your Party central executive committee (CEC) has, with its membership eligibility framework, given a clear and principled answer. Understanding why that answer is correct requires going back to one of the deepest debates in the socialist tradition. Rosa Luxemburg spent much of her political life engaged in precisely this debate with Lenin. Her position was not, as is sometimes caricatured, a rejection of organisation. She was a lifelong organiser who died at the hands of counter-revolution. Her argument was something more precise: that the revolutionary transformation of society could not be accomplished by substituting a disciplined party for the self-activity of the working class.

Anarchists and Neo-anarchists: Horizontalism and Autonomous Spaces
It is not uncommon, particularly in North America, to see anarchism defined as an ideology rooted in ‘direct democracy’, consensus decision making, and the maintenance of ‘horizontal’ (i.e., ‘non-hierarchical’) social relations, particularly in autonomous zones or public spaces. This idea of anarchism is unusual in that it places at the centre of its definition an adherence to very specific forms of procedure and interpersonal behaviour while downplaying the political ends a ‘horizontal’ movement should be trying to establish. From this perspective, reclaiming public space as an opportunity to hold non-hierarchical public assemblies, where we can hammer out decisions by consensus, is, in itself, ‘anarchist’ – whatever the result of such processes. This has little to do with the classical, mass-anarchist tradition and its politics of revolutionary socialism. It is, instead, an approach which is better described as falling under the banner of ‘neo-anarchism’ (or ‘small-a anarchism’). Neo-anarchism is a modern conception of anarchism largely informed by the feminist and peace movements of the 70s, the environmental movement of the 80s, the alter-globalisation movement of the 90s, and the Argentinian uprising of 2001; which coined the term horizontalidad (‘horizontalism’) to describe the movement’s rejection of representative democracy, the use of general assemblies to coordinate activity, and converting abandoned or bankrupt factories into cooperative businesses. Take, for instance, the insistence by neo-anarchists on the use of consensus decision making. Though consensus (or ‘unanimity’, as it was typically called) was sometimes a feature of anarchist political organisations, and often seen as an ideal to work towards through comradely discussion, it was never a fundamental component of the anarchist movement. Anarchists have generally agreed that the appropriate form of decision making depends on the circumstances concerned, and frequently endorsed variations of majoritarian voting; particularly in mass organisations based on commonalities other than close-ideological affinity, such as unions. The focus for anarchists has generally not been the form of decision-making, but instead the principles of free association and solidarity. Furthermore, though anarchists have always stressed the right of the minority to be free of the majority’s coercion, it is even more important that the great majority be free of minoritarian rule or sabotage.
