>Some even believe that artificial general intelligence, or A.G.I., will create a permanent underclass. In the United States, the term “underclass” gained currency in the 1960s to describe the factory workers left behind by the postwar automation boom. Today, it has become repopularized as a viral term for a theory that posits that people have a limited window of time to build wealth before A.I. and robotics are advanced enough to fully replace human labor. At that point, everyone will get frozen in their current class positions: The rich will be able to deploy superintelligent machines to do their bidding, and everyone else will be rendered useless and unemployable, left to live off welfare scraps.

So is it over or will throwing millions of people into becoming peasants lead to a revolution?

They won’t be peasants because peasants are tied to land and have their own agriculture they set aside for themselves, the plan, if it works, is mass lumpenization. That lumpenization is happening, either because the technology succeeds, and capitalists shrink their labor pool to a tiny handful of engineers and mechanics for robots, or the technology fails, all the cards and the assets are tied into a bubble that bursts and you have 1999, 2008, and 1973 all wrapped in one megacrisis package.

Also if there’s no working class to earn wages how are they going to buy your products? UBI has already been ruled out.

Too early to tell

>what is overproduction?

overthrow the US government already

>So is it over or will throwing millions of people into becoming peasants lead to a revolution?
No, it's gonna lead to small glass tower enclaves for the 1% surrounded by lawless megaslums they use for entertainment (human trafficking, involuntary organ donors, forced human experiment subjects, underground rings, the works).

Also if this AGI shit doesn't this decade they will keep trying while we all , if they have revealed their card it's because it's no longer stoppable by us.
It can only be delayed, mostly by armed thugs who would do it so they are at the helm instead.

Threads like this really expose the literacy level of this board, users aren't familiar with most fundamental aspects of capitalism like overproduction, they don't realize that since Marx's time the bourgeoisie have been struggling against automation while trying to maximise productivity, they think automation doesn't exist due to lack of technology rather than capital's inherent contradictions…

Holy fuck. Being surrounded by such ignorance is depressing.

Too much doom and gloom. Everything will probably turn out ok, other than the elites pushing more depopulation measures. Expect gay and transhumanist propaganda to be turned up to the max along with more general antinatalism/incentives for vasectomies. Not that people are having all that much children anyway (thanks feminism).

I think everything is gonna be just fine.

listen mate, i watch hundreds oflongform content videos on the youtubes where unqualified petty bourgeoise imposters summarised wikipedia articles sounding authorative. i watch videos on economics, computer science, politics etc. when i'm not watching these highly stumilating and thought provoking video essays by selfimportant twats trying to make a quick buck, i listen to podcats by thought leaders and critical thinkgers such as leks fridmann, erik weinstain et. al. i am basically a modern day davinschi at this point.

>buy

They dont need anyone to buy their products. They will just print money and give it to themselves. The idea is they dont need people anymore if robots can do stuff. So no need for producing products to give to people so they can do what you order them.
