Its like the opposite of an AES marxist, its a communist who believes in no country being worth supporting. People hate on them a lot because they tend to in practice refer to places like Cuba/North Korea as fascist and help capitalist ideologues by punching left for them.

What distinguishes trotskyism in terms of theory? "Degenerated worker's state"? That's a subjective judgment, not material analysis; materially Trotsky still identified the USSR as socialist. "Permanent revolution"? That's inherent to all Marxist theory, Trotsky just used it to distinguish himself from Stalin who allegedly gave up on internationalism even though he never did. Trotskyism is just ML whose raison d'etre is to distinguish itself from other ML. In modern context it means cultic behavior, putting ML takes on history/geopolitics on their head to produce wildly incoherent takes, or just being ML with ritual condemnations of Stalin sprinkled in. No other reasons for trotskyism to exist.

Also western trots seem weirdly obsessed with sex scandals for some reason.

you're confusing trotskyism with leftcoms, ultras, bordigists. trotsky was an opportunist who went from menshevik to bolshevik at the last minute, played both sides in the struggle between otzovism and liquidationism, had a power struggle with stalin after lenin died, got exiled, wrote his own counter history, and got assassinated. He would probably be forgotten if he didn't get assassinated, but combine his assassination with the 1930s purges and the disputed lenin's testament thing and there's a bunch of people who think he's this super vindicated martyr even though he was ruthless and opportunist in reality and permanent revolution was a suicidal idea in the interwar context.
