Under capitalism, games are job-like, but what if under socialism, jobs were game-like? A socialist society could take the artistic lessons of what makes something tedious more fun, addictive, and rewarding, and use it to labor required to make society function less miserable? You guys will probably shit on this idea but at least try to critique it constructively or think creatively about it.
I had this same thought a long time ago, I wanna say about 14 years ago when I hard my first job. I considered myself "socialist" even back then but knew basically nothing about class struggle or the history of the labor movement. There was a lot of talk in tech about "augmented reality" back then and I imagined workers wearing VR goggles that overlay a colorful UI over their daily asks and encourage them to keep going. But I realized that's basically tech bro carrot and stick bullshit meant to make people into nerds who cherish their own exploitation.
Id rather get treated with respect
Like this what has to be done lets do it
Than that shit
When the modern man wants to "get away from it all" he goes hunting and fishing. When Marx fantasized about future socialism he imagined himself hunting, fishing, and rearing cattle. Of course, there were already people doing this a long time ago, and they're happier than settled people, but we can only go "forward" until we're genetically engineered slaves. Oh well.

>>2812115if labor becomes life's prime want, then that means people will work for fun, which means they will work to make the work as fun as possible

>>2811868I think if automation becomes high tier advanced there wouldn't really be any work to speak of other than supervision of the automated process itself, there would only be culture for its own sake rather than as a means to an end. I think the closest we ever came to this was during greco-roman times when slaves took care of everything and the elites just did politics and philosophy or degeneracy.
>>2812975>I think the closest we ever came to this was during greco-roman times when slaves took care of everything and the elites just did politics and philosophy or degeneracy.… that was only possible because the elites had a monopoly on violence. the men all trained for war from a very young age.
>>2812979Yeah well the supervision part for them would entail violence because slaves still have agency whereas tech doesn't unless it's intentional or glitched.
you should tell that to oil rig workers and metal workers.
>>2812174nta but why did you post that when anon was reffering to genetic engineering? Which is a thing that could happen in the future?
>>2811868Reminds me of anarchist/anprim stuff about how tribal people have fun when hunting and gathering, they sing, gossip, tell jokes. Which sounds nice I guess but I dunno about singing at 7 am that's like those weird forced happiness Japanese corpos where everyone has to smile and they do calisthenics in the lobby.
>>2813775I'm guessing it's just a thing where if people are in a good mood they do it
