trolling isn't effective against trolls. what is effective is exposure. what would be much better is a mass campaign of people privately investigating prominent rightoid figures and using a combination of public records digging and social engineering to look into their past and find things they've done that they would prefer to keep quiet. these people very often have skeletons in their closets that they try very hard to keep that stuff off the internet and out of the public knowledge and anyone can find stuff if they just do the work, look at old court records and arrest reports, find the right people and finesse them over the phone by pretending to be someone official, etc. people kind of overestimate the power of the internet and think that everything that used to be obscure is out there in the public now, that if there was any dirt to find it surely would have been discovered by now, but that's really not the case, there's still mountains and mountains of stuff that's buried in file cabinets or locked behind deepweb crappy local county records department websites that pull data from separate non-indexed servers that aren't crawled by search engines. just take a look at bill cosby, look how long it took for the internet to finally catch on to what he had been up to.

I think that is dead as a thing but the zeitgeist is also moving more in the direction of shaming anti-social behavior which does, incidentally, have consequences for rightoids but in a way that's also divorced from ideology. It's like there being consequences for the Chud the Builder guy going out harassing people (I had never heard of this person) but not in the sense that antifa is doxxing him or making his life difficult.
