Hydrological determinism argues that the shared aquifers and river systems of Israel and the West Bank constitute a single, integrated water system where natural flows, such as the Mountain Aquifer, ignore political boundaries. Because withdrawal already exceeds renewable supplies, a unified management entity is presented as necessary to prevent the collapse of shared resources. For more information on this regional issue, visit Fanack.

>The situation is even worse for those portions of the Coastal Aquifer that underlie the Gaza Strip. Around 96% of Gaza’s groundwater is undrinkable due to over-pumping and seawater infiltration. On average, the water contribution of the Coastal Aquifer to the Israeli water sector is estimated at about 240-300 MCM/yr.

Why is there no analysis about this very un-sexy fact in popular media? No one writes about it or talks about it.

>[Fanack] Publications focus on political issues, projects and technologies regarding water resources in the MENA region. Similar to the country files, our publications also include visualised data on the topic of the report. In addition to our more in-depth publications. We also publish Interviews and Blogs that address water issues in the MENA region through interviews with experts and short opinion pieces on the latest developments.

Because it is an obsolete theory in the age of desalination plants.

>Because it is an obsolete theory in the age of desalination plants.

Not true. If you had RTFA, then you would know that desalination is for supplementing drinking water, not for industrial, agricultural, and commercial processes. It's also more relevant now than in the 20th century because of climate change and the population explosion in the region. Really sick of >current year being passed off as an argument.

The state of Palestine

uyghur wtf are you talking about

>The state of Palestine
Whatever. I'm not here to moralize about which state should control the water, but I do assert that there can only be one.
