Argentina Records 105 Femicides in First Five Months
The figures were released ahead of the 11th anniversary of the first Ni Una Menos mass demonstration, a landmark movement against violence toward women. A special report by the Observatory “Women, Dissidences, Rights” found that 3,096 femicides have been committed in Argentina since June 3, 2015. The report comes amid ongoing disputes over official data. According to the Lucía Pérez Observatory, 271 femicides and transfemicides were recorded in 2025, compared with the 200 direct femicide victims reported this week by Argentina’s judiciary.

More than 4.5 million Canadians living in poverty
The current poverty figures are a devastating indictment of the policies of the ruling federal Liberal government, first under Justin Trudeau and now Mark Carney. For over a decade, the Liberal-led government has overseen the impoverishment of large sections of the Canadian population, the slashing of spending on critical social programs and infrastructure, and the reckless and costly rearming of the military to secure the interests of Canadian imperialism amid a new redivision of the world between the great powers.

Kenyans protest planned US Ebola quarantine facility
Demonstrators rallied on Monday in the city of Nanyuki, days after Kenya’s High Court ordered the suspension of the plan. India ramps up push-in bids after BJP win in WB
The Border Guard Bangladesh recently foiled several Indian push-in attempts while the Indian Border Security Force has reportedly gathered many people along the border to force them into Bangladesh as its nationals without verification. Besides push-ins, other hostile incidents – including the rise in border killing by the BSF, installing poles within 150 yards in the no-man’s-land, tensions between Bangladeshis and the BSF – have risen following the BJP election victory in West Bengal.

MP: MSP Uncertainty Pushes Khargone Farmers Away From Summer Moong
In Madhya Pradesh's Khargone district, the area under summer moong cultivation has declined sharply this year. Once considered a short-duration, low-water, high-return crop, moong is now becoming a casualty of uncertain government policy. Delays in procurement at the Minimum Support Price last year, farmer protests, and the absence of clear signals regarding procurement this year have pushed many farmers away from the crop, affecting not only incomes but also crop cycles and soil health.

Italian activists escalate Mediterranean port protests over Gaza genocide
The new action dubbed “Global Intifada Disarm” was launched during a maritime and land demonstration at the port as five boats from the Thousand Madleens to Gaza initiative approached the Calabrian port in a symbolic protest against Italy’s war economy and supply chains. The 29 May mobilisation, called by grassroots trade unions and the Movement of Young Palestinians in Italy, saw demonstrations across the country, from ports and logistics hubs to factories identified by campaigners as being linked to military production and supply chains connected to Israel.

Among the proposals published on Monday, the republican party said it was time to end “vetoes” within the arrangements by changing how the first and deputy first ministers can take up their roles. Sinn Fein has long accused the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) of blocking progress on key policies. First Minister Michelle O’Neill said her party’s plans aimed to removed the “ever-present threat of collapse” of the Northern Ireland Assembly and to ensure stability in the future.

New Jersey sues Geo Group, private operator of Delaney Hall ICE facility
Tuesday’s lawsuit, filed by Jennifer Davenport, the state’s attorney general, asks the state superior court in Newark to order the private operator, the Geo Group, to grant the New Jersey department of health full access to the facility to conduct inspections. … Last Thursday, New Jersey department of health inspectors were allowed a limited inspection of the detention center but, Davenport’s office said, were barred from inspecting crucial areas such as the medical unit, sleeping, bathing and toilet areas.

Claim of Responsibility for Arson Attack on “Israeli” Business in Exarchia
Palestine still continues to struggle. Against such an attack, which aims to annihilate every human presence, to eliminate every trace of the cultural element of the Palestinian people. A continuous crime against humanity, by the Zionists who expand their occupation of the territory of Palestine every day. In a parallel universe, the Greek state pretends not to hear, not to see, not to know anything and makes sure to support the crimes of the Zionists in every way for the sake of the “strategy of the alliance”. It gives free rein to kidnap, illegally detain, humiliate and torture even European activists, while Greek shipowners unmolested conclude agreements with the Zionists. The big businessmen of tourism rub their hands in front of the bloody money left by the thousands of IDF soldiers who come to the country for vacation. The same goes for the big real estate owners and brokers who enrich themselves with the “Israeli” capital invested in the country.

Conspiracy Theories, Recriminations and Insults Fly As the Far Right Melts Down Over Makerfield
In the far right’s warped and exaggerated fantasy world, one of two brave men stand between Britain and Andy Burnham’s Muslamic socialist hordes sweeping the country on a fleet of publicly owned buses. It’s time to choose your fighter. In one corner, we have Nigel Farage, the Reform UK leader who casually accepted a £5m gift from a Thailand based crypto-billionaire because he thought he was a special boy. In the other is Rupert Lowe, leader of even-further-right Restore Britain, who recently told Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg on GB News he would be “a true Tory if I were anything”. These are the last great hopes of the British working class, if you believe people with names like MarmiteReverieBrit with 500,000 followers on X. Restore Britain was the result of a messy split between Lowe and Farage that made the shenanigans in Your Party look like gentle banter. Lowe’s party has since attracted the support of the world’s richest man Elon Musk and some of Britain’s most openly racist influencers and activists, and has cornered the market for saying uncompromisingly rightwing things that bait social media algorithms. The deep personal animus between Farage and Lowe is now playing out with potentially national significance.

US murder spree in Latin American waters moves beyond 200 killed
The death toll from US military strikes on alleged drug vessels off the coast of Latin America has now surpassed 200 people. In the latest attack, the fourth in a single week, the US military released video on Saturday of a small boat erupting in flames in the Eastern Pacific. The three men reportedly killed bring the estimated total to 205 since the mass murder campaign began in the Caribbean on September 2, 2025. The campaign expanded to the Eastern Pacific in October and has destroyed approximately 60 vessels. Mass murder has been turned into a daily, bureaucratic operation, with extrajudicial killing a part of imperialist policy. This unfolds alongside the criminal US-Israeli war against Iran and Lebanon—in which the Lebanese health ministry counts 3,371 dead since March 2, while the human rights group HRANA puts the death toll in Iran at 3,636—and is built on top of the genocide in Gaza that has killed over 70,000 people. This campaign of mass murder carries a direct warning for workers in the United States: The methods being tested in the Caribbean are being imported home.

The Problem of Independent Trade Unions in Iraq and the Prospects for Mass Action
The article presented by the well-known left-wing writer and activist Rezgar Akrawi on the problem of trade unions and mass organizations in Iraq and the Global South touches upon one of the most complex and sensitive issues in the experience of the contemporary left, for what it contains of a serious attempt to rethink the relationship between party work and trade union and mass work in light of the profound political, social, and economic transformations that Iraq and the region have witnessed over recent decades. The importance of this contribution lies in the fact that it does not merely describe the state of dispersal and weakness afflicting the trade union and mass movement, but seeks to open an intellectual and practical discussion about its structural causes and the prospects for overcoming them, drawing benefit from diverse global experiences and experiments. Credit must also be given to the author for addressing the subject with a calm critical spirit, far removed from accusations of treason or direct partisan polemics, attempting to raise genuine questions concerning trade union independence, the relationship with political parties, and the crisis of mass organization under the rentier state and the dominance of traditional political structures. From this standpoint, the following observations and ideas may be viewed as an attempt to contribute to the development of this discussion and to answer some of the practical questions raised specifically by the Iraqi reality. In the Iraqi case in particular, the question of building independent trade unions and mass organizations cannot be addressed by replicating ready-made models or formulas imported from other experiences, because the Iraqi reality is governed by deep structural complexities manifested in the rentier nature of the state, the weakness of the private sector, the dominance of political parties over the public sphere, the infiltration of most existing trade unions, and the dependence of broad sectors of workers and employees on the state as the primary source of livelihood. For this reason, any talk of trade union independence cannot rest on idealistic conceptions or sudden organizational leaps, but must proceed from a realistic and gradual understanding of the nature of society, the state, and the actual conditions of mass work.
