genuinely, why the FUCK is no one talking about el niño?
usually the media will use known nothingburgers to alarm people while sweeping actual happenings under the rug, compare ebola/hantavirus to the covid pandemic, for example. the fact that we're all dead silent about this potentially never-before-seen happening is extremely worrying to me, what do they know? is it really as bad as current predictions? could it be fucking worse?
the most optimistic predictions would place this as the worst el niño in history, even worse than the 19th century one which resulted in millions of deaths worldwide. now, combine that with pre-existing shortages in the supply chains due to the iran war, which limits the amount of fertilisers available, and we could be looking at a total catastrophe, we'd face floods, famines, and even worse temperatures, with effects varying depending on geographical location

the worst part is, i cant even find any cope trying to debunk this like you had with covid, people are just accepting it or covering their ears trying to ignore it, this gives me a reaaaally bad feeling, im starting to tweak out. are we genuinely fucked? is it unironically over?

and another thing: a total lack of acknowledgement or preparation from any government or political entity. its like it doesnt even exist, while all scientists in the field are warning us about it

>genuinely, why the FUCK is no one talking about el niño?
>usually the media
I’ve been hearing news about the Godzilla El Niño for 2 weeks now, it’s even been showing up on the windows 11 news page

There’s no mass death that will change anything anyway

Typical bourgeois fearmongering over weather 'forecast' pseudoscience

>>2838771
there is no fearmongering. no one id talking about it. most people ITT dont even know what it is

>>2838809
yea except this might kill like 50 million people or some shit. are none of you prepared? i thought this was supposed to be like some based schizo board

I am worried as fuck but what can I do. I'm a thirdie and poor as fuck, there's no prepping I can do. I'll just have to see what I can do once shit hits the fan.

Stratospheric aerosol injection will solve global warming.

A US-Israeli startup called Stardust Solutions is on the case. It only costs $50 billion per year (0.05% of world GDP) to reverse all man made global warming.

Zionism predates the Nakba.
Zionism predates WW2.
Zionism is from the 19th century.
The holocaust didn't give us Israel, though Hitler did deport Jewish settlers to Palestine, exacerbating the problem.

>>2838855
that's the stupidest thing you can do. you should live as though there is a terrible future that must be prepared for. everyone I know who took this stupid ass advice ended up worse off.

it's reported (Guardian) but government has interest in maintaining public order on the one hand (govt doesnt even prepare or make sound policy based on empirical climate data) and on the other hand the lack of precedent about all of this/ the fact that what will really happen is unknown means the govt is basically acting like it doesnt real. Unknown unknowns as Rumsfeld would say. Might as well not rock the boat

theyre talking about it on pol too with denial and dismissal and a certain misanthropy. Really reminds me what chud means and that these people just exist in the same world and breathe the same air, acting completely insane

I believe humanity will pull through, as they have in the past. With one exception: because of the huge amount of vitriol directed towards the global poor swelling up all around the world, I unfortunately imagine that while most of the world will be fine, continents like Africa will be left behind to starve. China may help, but I don't think the west is coming.

>uh… something happening is le bad even doe no real movement exists under the status quo

>Previous reports have shown Israel’s intent to experiment with cloud seeding and weather modification over Gaza, a region that was already facing an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe. With recent events, it’s fair to investigate the dual-use of climate technologies for military operations and as a weapon of war.

There is a climate change thread.

Anyway, the moment you read and follow climate science you realize we are absolutely beyond fucked, like it's really really fucking bad lol. Everyone is coping so much but it is unlikely a global society with large productive forces will be possible at all.

>>2839350
Please don't be the leftist version of antivaxxer or flat earther. Climate doomerism is anti-scienc.e You must trust science, and science shows that

1) Renewable energies, EVs, heat pumps etc are all doing a good job of slowing down emissions growth.

2) The pace of technological advancement in replacing carbon is accelerating. Lab grown meat, green ammonia, green hydrogen, electro furnaces, cheaper batteries, the list is rapidly growing. It's practically impossible for runaway global warming to happen.

3) Geoengineering is safe, cheap and HIGHLY effective in countering global warming while decarbonization continues. It's so cheap and effective that it's precisely why it's so controversial. Any medium sized country can unilaterally decide to reverse global warming all on its own.

Climate doomerism is simply stupid and hurts revolutionary optimism. We're all going to look really stupid if we campaign on "socialism will solve climate change" and capitalism solves it anyway.

this is not how the economy works. technological progress means absolutely nothing if the productive forces are unable to mobilize it on a mass scale. the US govt cant even build enough missiles to have any hope of beating iran despite its military spending and boatload of technological development. it does not matter how cheap something is, few companies within the era of financialization would want anything to do with an industry if it cant secure a convincing monopoly. we are only continuing to deindustrialize. perhaps if the entire world was just china we would have a chance, but with all of these bourgeois pedophiles relishing in constant stagflation within the west, it is doomed. without the actual forces to mass-mobilize anything, technology is just an idea. to rely on it then is idealism
https://hidwehproject.nekoweb.org/pages/blog/posts/2026-04-27-Brief-Remarks-On-Technology.html
<The CasP framework as well as the issue of implementation helps to highlight why a technological arms race with China in regard to artificial intelligence is always doomed to fail. At the end of the day, China has all of the industry, and it is the one that is actively making the information of things that would lend any superintelligence real power an actual reality. Western financialization not only deindustralizes but also actively works against the inter-connectivity that would make the IoT a truly powerful reality. We see this in various tech companies working to create their very own "ecosystem" that is minimally compatible with all the rest. Meanwhile, if the Communist Party of China so wills it, an infospheric hyperconnectivity may be made manifest. The West's industrial castration has rendered us utterly blind to this basic fact of material reality, so that we have given ourselves the impression that we can just intelligence our way into everything. The truth is that by the time the West builds any superintelligence, China would have very easily stolen the technology and implemented it on mass scales.
<America, with the fanciest technological innovations in the entire world, is struggling to defeat Iran. Why? Because deindustrialization has rendered it impossible for them to even achieve parity with respect to missile production. What a bad joke. We do not need to think too hard who really has the mandate of heaven and who is endlessly magnanimous in not taking the now inferior civilization out of its misery. Yet we are to believe that China's autocratic government is 'evil', as though it is not obvious what we would have done if the roles were reversed.
<Without proper attention to the problems of implementation, we end up placing excessive hopes on AI to solve all of our problems. For instance, we suppose that AI could solve climate change. The irony here of course is that climate change was already solved a long time ago. All we needed to do is switch to nuclear power and electric vehicles decades ago while shifting our agricultural sectors away from animal husbandry. We have collectively refused to do this largely because oil barons want to maintain an energy monopoly. They would rather push politicians to wage foreign invasions in order to inflate oil prices and keep them in a comfortable position of power. Alas, the CasP framework strikes again. Moreover, even if AI could come up with a new solution, say carbon capture, we do not have the mode of production that would allow us to mass-produce said technologies thanks to deindustrialization. The only hope we as a planet have with regards to this problem is China, and I am skeptical they will be able to make it time before the water wars start.
the only good news is that if hundreds of millions of people die and collapse ensues we might be able to actually establish global socialism in the aftermath. perhaps this is one reason why china behaves so conservative geopolitically. it realizes that we are already dead. western hegemony is a walking corpse

El Niño–Southern Oscillation is basically a normal climate phenomenon that creates a temperature change over the Pacific ocean, it can be a cooling effect (La Niña) and a warming effect (El Niño), it is something that happens in cycles, but it doesn't really have a regular pattern so best we can do is monitoring ocean and air temperature monitoring and guess based on that. It can result in more droughts or floods, I don't think there is proof for a trend, but due to climate change the effects can be more severe.

>>2839826
Good post but
>the only good news is that if hundreds of millions of people die and collapse ensues we might be able to actually establish global socialism in the aftermath. perhaps this is one reason why china behaves so conservative geopolitically. it realizes that we are already dead. western hegemony is a walking corpse
Personally I just can't really think that a global thing is going to pan out, some places might be great, others ruthless.

i'm tired of all these end of the world predictions
nothing happened with the russia war, nothing happened with the iran war nothing will happen with this crap.
world supply lines are clearly too resilient to be destroyed by these one off events.
