Could there ever be an revivial of some kind of weather underground group? Or similar tatics that were used by them?

Just curious since there looks like a revivial of student lead political orgs in the US

>hey comrade, want to blow up that federal building

For what purpose

>>2848525
Not with surveillance and communications tech where it’s at. The future is lone wolf assassinations. Any organizations like the JBGC might succeed as rural resistance movements, but always in decentralized pockets. The last place you’ll find real plotting being done will be on college campuses.

>>2848532
Quite a few wars of national liberation have involved blowing up federal buildings. The problem is that we are in no way in situations like Ireland or whatever. The goal of terrorism is to rally the masses to the cause and to make occupation unprofitable. I do not think that at this stage that blowing up federal buildings is swimming through the people as a fish swims through the sea.

Government bathrooms are on high alert.

>>2848574
why are there just patent lies? many of the members of the weather underground went to prison, only some didn't

>>2848603
>why are chuds lying
are you new

>>2848603
>>2848647
I'm not a western leftist, so I don't understand why anyone would claim these guys, like they were objectively losers in every aspect

>>2848661
Okay then Rosa Luxemburg and Ernst Thallman were losers too. The Paris Commune were losers. John Brown and Nat Turner were losers.

>>2848666
I mean yeah to an extent, all of them had moronic plans but they were still much smarter then the WU retards.

>>2848661
They were, but it's a right-wing shibboleth in America (for those who are not from here) that the Weather Underground never served any time because leftists have rigged the system in their favor. This is ~ideology~ on their part to justify their own revanchist politics, because some of the W.U. members did go to prison (like Kathy Boudin). But there were others who didn't serve any time because of a WikiLeaks-tier scandal in the mid-1970s about COINTELPRO. The feds were using illegal wiretaps and stuff like that which wrecked their cases.

>>2848661
just because i said a fact (that most of them are arrested) doesn't mean i like them, they were still ineffectual it's just that they really did get sent to prison for this waste of time and resources
>>2848647
i've been here for years man, it just annoys me when i see people lying so blatantly

Also the right-wing frothing about the ones who got away (which is then constructed in a reactionary myth) is very boomer-ish as well. It's like complaining about Jane Fonda, it instantly dates someone online that he's 70 years old.

I actually popped into a bookstore once where Bill Ayers was giving a talk and there was some boomer in the crowd who summoned some courage during the Q&A and got up and starting yelling at him about whatever and "Obama," which is apparently based on the fact that both Obama and Ayers are from Chicago but the idea that they were in cahoots together was this whole thing on the right.

>>2848661
If loser fetishim exists, "winner" or "survivor" fetishism also exists. And it's the basis of the retard MLs worshiping failed states.

>>2848684
it's easy to worship a dead state or movement, what's hard, is doing something remotely equivalent, rather than pontificating about what ifs, and what has been, never on what will be

>>2848683
i think the closest there was in that field was that they met a few times in the 90s and in the 2000s, but that was it, right wingers back then were a bit nutty

>>2848696
Yeah like some non-profit thing

>>2848683
>>2848696
I honestly despise all boomer American politics, both the right and the left. There’s literally nothing of value there, not a single thing.

you'll be hard pressed to find people that disagree!

>Rich overwhelmingly white kids
>Planting bombs inside usually secured government buildings with apparent ease
>Ranting about ML while actually doing only adventurism and refusing to organize the masses or provide them with anything

>The one time they explicitly collaborate with the Panthers is to "break out of prison" Timothy Leary an LSD activist and ACTUAL FBI INFORMANT (look it up,he officially turned snitch after)… and try to insert him into the Panthers in Algeria.

>Leary would then flee to Switzerland after getting stonewalled, under the wing of one Michel Hauchard international arms dealer and probably spook. THen fled to Afghanistan with another rich woman who eventually would reportedly convince him to be an informant after being captured and extradited back to the US.

>Largely unbothered, allowed to repeatedly travel to Cuba and other communist places and probably get support from foreigners

>while the cops are straight up murdering anyone openly left of Nixon
>plans to get arrested
>does
>No prison
>0 deaths inflicted, actually (except killing themselves assembling a bomb, that one time)

>>2849187
Maybe, but I read Mark Rudd's autobiography about his time in the WU and his account makes them sound like a bunch of idealistic rich kids with money and connections who absolutely could not handle the fact that nobody took them seriously. Before the Weather Underground, they were in SDS. They met with a Vietnamese delegation and basically asked, "How do we start a revolution in America and help defeat the US military?" The Vietnamese response was more or less: please don't. Organize peaceful protests, donate money if you can, and remember that the Vietnamese and American people aren't your enemies.
That absolutely shattered them. They wanted to be Che Guevara, instead they got told to hand out flyers and write checks. The Vietnamese were trying to be practical, but the SDS radicals heard it as condescension. They were so desperate to be taken seriously as revolutionaries that being told to do something useful felt like a personal humiliation

>>2848525
i wish western communists were brave enough to do something, sad how the closest thing to an actual communist party there is the ACP

>>2849187
Nobody gave a fuck about security back then. Airports didn't even have security screenings with metal detectors until 1972 because plane hijackings started happening literally weekly. People could just carry a gun onto a plane and demand a trip to Cuba… laffo

>>2849211

the CPV are fascist, they are platner, etc.

>>2849345
This was a genuine argument among some Western Maoists. They insisted that the Vietnamese had fallen under the sway of Russian chauvinism and saw the invasion of Cambodia as evidence. It was fucking hilarious

>Vietnam’s naked aggression against Kampuchea and the Kampuchean people reached a new level with the capture of the capital city at Phnom Penh on Jan. 7. After a 16 day full scale armed invasion involving over 100,000 troops and heavy aerial bombing, the Vietnamese are now claiming control over “almost all” of Kampuchea.

>Under cover of their puppet organization, the “Kampuchean National United Front for National Salvation” formed less than one month before the invasion, the Vietnamese claim that they have rallied the Kampuchean people behind their leadership.
>Yet despite their claims of widespread popular support, resistance to the Vietnamese invaders continues to be fierce throughout the country. Fighting is reportedly heavy at the country’s only deep water port at Kompong Som and several islands northwest of it. The Kampuchean army still remains in control of the provincial capital at Pursat, 100 miles northwest of Phnom Penh. In addition heavy fighting continues in Battambang, northwest Kampuchea’s major city, Sisophon 30 miles east of the Thai border and at Nimit 13 miles from the frontier.
>These examples of resistance reflect the heroic revolutionary spirit of the Kampuchean people. As our Chinese comrades state, “The capture of Phnom Penh by the Vietnamese does not mean the end but the beginning of the war.” As is evident the Kampuchean Revolutionary Army and people under the leadership of the Kampuchean Communist Party (CPK) are already actively waging a people’s war. While the Vietnamese control the towns, the Kampuchean army remains strong in most of the countryside enjoying the full support of the people. Ieng Sary, Deputy Prime Minister of Kampuchea, speaking in Peking said that Kampuchea would continue fighting even though its army was heavily outnumbered by the Vietnamese. “We do not have so big an army but we have the people with us,” he said. “We will take the weapons we need from the Vietnamese. An aggressor is never strong.”

>The military aggression against Democratic Kampuchea early this January and its occupation by more than ten heavily Soviet-equipped Vietnamese divisions shocked the whole world.

>Many people were stunned to see Vietnam attempting to forcibly annex a neighbouring people who were previously their comrades-in-arms.
>But we see today that after the American war of destruction, instead of devoting its energies to the reconstruction of the country for the welfare of its people, Vietnam consolidated and developed its military forces in order to extend its control over neighbouring countries. Vietnam is practising regional hegemonism, that is, using all means, including military occupation, outright colonization and systematic pillage, to become the master of Southeast Asia.
>Vietnam’s ambitions fit right in with Soviet plans for world domination. Vietnam needs Soviet military help to wage its wars of aggression. And through this help, the Soviet Union is consolidating its hold over Vietnam and is turning it into another Cuba. However strong an imperialist power may be, it cannot hope to control the whole world completely on its own. It needs to establish faithful allies, who, like Vietnam today, are themselves ambitious and aggressive, to do its job in certain regions of the world.

>The Central Committee of the Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) of the U.S. sent the following statement of support to the leaders of Democratic Kampuchea–Prime Minister Pol Pot, Deputy Prime Minister Ieng Sary, and President Khieu Samphan.

>The Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) of the United States gives its full support to the Kampuchean people in their present efforts to resist the Vietnamese aggression now taking place in Democratic Kampuchea.
>No matter how many acts of aggression, invasion, subversion and occupation are launched by the Vietnamese leaders and their Soviet masters, we are certain that they will never succeed in conquering the Kampuchean people, whose precious liberation was achieved only three-and-a-half years ago after defeating U.S. imperialism and its puppets on the battlefield.
>During the war of national liberation from 1970 to 1975, the Kampuchean people were in the front lines of the world struggle against U.S. imperialism. Today they are in the front lines of the fight against the Soviet imperialists who seek to dominate the entire world and their Vietnamese agents who pursue the aim of regional hegemonism in Southeast Asia.
>We are not fooled by the Vietnamese efforts to conceal their aggression under the cloak of a puppet organization made up of a handful of Kampuchean traitors. We know that the entire Kampuchean nation is unified in its resolve to defeat the Vietnamese aggression, liberate the country once again, and carry forward the tasks of the socialist revolution.
>We are also not fooled by the appearance of Vietnamese and Soviet military superiority. We know that the Revolutionary Army of Kampuchea and the Kampuchean people are at this very moment in the mountains, the jungle, and all parts of the countryside, ready to unfold a protracted people’s war which no aggressor will be able to survive.
>We expect that the flag of oppression and domination which has been hoisted by the Vietnamese aggressors temporarily over Phnom Penh will not be able to fly for long. We have every confidence that the three gold towers on the field of red–the only flag that represents the Kampuchean people–will fly once again in Phnom Penh.
>Our Party’s support for the Kampuchean people is unshakeable. We will do everything in our power to support you in your present struggle.
