Solidarity for Christopher Nolan making the most progressive movie of all time.
Chuds gonna be so mad when the movie succeed and nothing gonna stop the whokeness.
Remember Achilles was a trans male and Homer was a sexist pig
>>2864963Seems like it could be a replay of woke Napoleon which flopped didn't it?
Well, Achilles was a crossdresser, as we read from the Achillead:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Achilles_on_SkyrosBut of course, it is also cisheteronormative to presume that all crossdressers are genderqueer
>Homer was sexistHe literally makes Athena the strongest god, using Diomedes.
The Odyssey also includes Odysseus being raped by goddesses.
>>2864966>Not existing in Homer's epic poem Iliad, the episode is written down in detail in some later versions of the story, particularly the Achilleid by the Roman poet Statius. why are westernoids always like this?
so progressive they shot it on occupied land in the western sahara
>>2864967Are you not familiar with the classics? Homer and Hesiod wrote thw original source material and everything after in the Greco-Roman world is pure fanfiction.
>>2864967You're not ready for the pill lil uygha
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caeneus Mentioned in the OG Illiad by Nestor and namedropped by Plato in the Laws btw.
>>2864977What the fuck is the point in the Iliad? I read it once and it was just like 'this guy, son of this guy, who did these things, [proceeds to explain how he dies a horrible and pointless death], on repeat.
I didn't get it. was making me feel stupid.
>>2864989There are way too many artefacts depicting it records of gender bending and sex changes in Greek and Roman mythology/litterature to just be a Egyptian telenovela-tier joke. It's also rarely treated as a joke anyway unless you count shady historians of the time defaming Roman Emperor #245 he disliked as a queer.
>>2864989>and you often see this kind of joke there, men dressing up as women along with fart jokes are considered the peak of humor. We're openly calling the United Kingdom the third world now?
>>2865009It's a remnant to an extent but like I said, I associate with thirdie humor where crossdressing and fart jokes were way to common.
>>2864995Herodotus describes Scythian transsexuals in his "Histories" (425 BCE):
<This manner of divination they have from their fathers: but the Enareës or "man-women" say that Aphrodite gave them the gift of divination, and they divine accordingly with the bark of the linden-tree. https://www.gutenberg.org/files/2707/2707-h/2707-h.htm#link4noteref-68Here, Aphrodite (Venus) is the power behind this gender-bending. We also read this in Enheduanna's "Hymn to Inana [Aphrodite]" (2200 BCE):
<To turn a man into a woman and a woman into a man are yours, Inana.https://etcsl.orinst.ox.ac.uk/section4/tr4073.htmThe later cult of Cybele attest to transsexualism as a type of initiation in service of the Great Mother, who can be seen as Celestial Aphrodite. So, the ancients then saw gender-bending as a power given from Aphrodite in particular. Today it's only the same. We see with many MtF transsexuals, an archetypal goddess worship.
>>2865015Yes, even Jesus makes apology for Eunuchs in his order of society, claiming that there were those who were eunuchs for God (Matt 19:12):
<For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake.https://biblehub.com/matthew/19-12.htmWe read that this was practiced up to the 4th century CE (325 CE):
< if any one in sound health has castrated himself, it behooves that such an one, if [already] enrolled among the clergy, should cease [from his ministry], and that from henceforth no such person should be promoted.https://www.newadvent.org/fathers/3801.htmThus, as Christ accepts the holy eunuch, the Church rejects them - but the fact that self-castrating Christians existed in the first place is interesting.
>>2865009Yeah but you just gotta know that if something like Mrs. Doubtfire or White Chicks came out today it would bring out all the rightoid dipshits to either call it woke propaganda or claim that "this is what the left actually believes" or something. It wouldn't just be treated as a goofy gag.
>>2864967Achilles wasn't an OC made by Homer you retard. He was a folk myth iterated in many stories of the time.
>>2865016Origen the christian did it but he couldnt handle it, since he later said: "I do not recommend it". Fucking cuck if you ask me, cuckrigen
>>2864963The trend of having this Burger King Kids' Club casting is, for me, the Jar-Jar Binks of modern Hollywood garbage. It likely wasn't the sole reason the show was bad, or even the primary reason, but it IS the most visibly annoying thing about the show. At least when it comes to the blatant race-swaps. If you want to make a movie or TV show with a diverse cast, use a story and/or setting that would have the diverse social and ethnic makeup that you're looking for. Don't make the fifty-thousandth film adaptation of the Odyssey, which should only feature Greek people (or, at least, people who could possibly pass for Greeks).
That, and the Batman hoplite armor on Agamemnon doesn't give me much hope for this movie.
I honestly wonder sometimes if this isn't some kind of psyop. There's been lots of "woke" Hollywood movies and TV shows over the decades, but they typically made being "woke" seem sexy and cool. The new trend seems to be surface-level diversity initiatives made to be as abrasive and off-putting as possible. It makes me wonder if this isn't an intentional bid to make it look bad and provide grist for right-wing outrage mills.
>>2864964How was Ridley Scott’s napoleon woke? It didn’t do well at the box office because it was a long and slow moving history epic that most Americans are too stupid to understand
>>2864964>>2865174Napoleon was amazing are you tigresses
for real?
Lupita Nyongo is a lovey woman and one of the most beautiful in the world
>>2865174>>2865252I didn't see it but most of the complaints is that it didn't focus on the history or Napoleon much at all and instead focused on his cuckold romance with whatsherface.
>>2865174I don't know if it was woke. It was more grossly inaccurate, especially around fixations Ridley Scott had. Among many, many other things, one might get the impression that Napoleon conquered most of Europe because his wife was cucking him, for instance.
This isn't the first time he's done this. Kingdom of Heaven is also grossly inaccurate in many areas. For one, he portrays Balian of Ibelin as a hapless peasant everyman who lived as a simple village blacksmith which takes him to the crusades and sees him rise up the ranks of the
feudal nobility through several contrivances, when in reality he was just a nobleman who lived in the Crusader States. His big fixation, though, was being in his New Atheist era and being so hyper-fixated on his "religion bad" message that he actually altered quite a few historical facts just to support this message, including changing Guy de Lusignan from a secular nobleman to a knight templar, the bizarre portrayal of King Baldwin IV as some kind of wise secular liberal type, and the movie generally kind of downplays the degree to which the Crusades were largely a dry run for later European colonialism and also a prime example of the fucked nature of old aristocratic politics to basically blame everything it can on the Church and religious fanaticism. But, with Kingdom of Heaven, Scott was wise enough to remember to make it a high-flying action flick with tons of spectacle and mostly marketed it as such. Most audiences that saw it would probably think it was just a Crusades-think historical fiction action movie and not even know that it was supposed to be based on real people and events, so he got away with it. Then he made Napoleon, which he billed as a biographical film and made it super long and plodding, which naturally only big history buffs and people super into Napoleon are going to be into, and all the inaccuracies and warping shit to fit personal fixations pissed them off, so he basically made a film for no one except master contrarians.
>>2864963isn't christopher nolan basically a CIA liberal. loves cops, loves capitalism, loves intelligence agencies… he just happens to be socially woke or whatever? very boring type of person. made in a lab
>>2865277Literally everything about his worldview you can see in The Dark Knight, not even rises, the regular Dark Knight that is praised as the best comic book movie ever.
>why isnt a movie historically accurate
because even homer wasn't historically accurate
Communism is gonna ban all blockbusters, capeshit and anti-woke slop discurse so americans can develop actual culture.
>>2865285If the movie was just being very faithful to what Nolan thought was probably Homer's vision when it was written down, that would be one thing, but the movie clearly isn't being faithful to Homer.
>>2865263I mean, yeah, but I think it painted a nice picture of him, and like humanizing the idea of the great of man,
while at the same time portraying the french revolutionary setting and like how it flipped social norms and made everything be reshaped by a lens of bourgeois-modernity.
That's what I felt that plotline was getting at.
Like dude's singlehandedly in charge of the whole country. But at the same time he's not able to be "in charge" of his woman because he's a true republican gentleman who can separate his private feelings from his public powers.
Whereas a royal would like be assigned a lass who's trained from birth on the privacy that she should maintain when it comes to intimate relations.
Napoleon is a regular guy who met a regular girl who's needs he can't seem to met (because he's busy all the time fighting a war), and there's no going around that. And you feel for napoleon because he genuinely loves her but he loves his country more, or has to believe he loves his country more to do the job right.
ANd that's kind of a dillema at the heart of bourgeois society to this day right.
Like there's the parenti quote about the factory worker too tired to have sex.
Or that elon musk delegates the parenting of his children to random women he meets online.
It's that keeping this hulking capitalist machinery clunking takes so much from us that it's hard to succeed at basic human affairs "on the side", doesn't matter how rich or poor you are, if you're in a position where things need your commitment to keep going, then your life will inevitably be happening in the background.
ROyals Dont Know How Good They Had It
>>2865263To keep it short.
I feel the movie is less about Napoleon the action figure who fights big aristobaddies.
Because people who wanna watch that can just do youtube documentaries these and like who gives a shit.
It's more about Napoleon the historical character, how and in what sort of historical context he fit in and what kind of historical person he was.
Like with the accusations of some sexual fetish I'm not sure if I can defend it as a biopic.
But yeah I feel the movie is about getting the viewer to see the revolutionary and war context from a first person perspective, seeing how Napoleon ( or A Napoleon clearly) might've seen it.
It's about the social tapestry and the drama, not about the wars.
>>2865252Feeling like I was living in French Revolutionary times was just pure kino for me and ill never forget it.
I'm sure there are better movies for that but on the big screen i've never seen them.
>>2865291Proles love Hollyweird trash tho.
>Circe, Penelope and Calypso are powerful womens who rule without mens
>Circe turning mens into pigs because they were perverts to her servants
>Calypso put Odysseus in a rape cave (with magical torture, mindbreak, gaslight) for seven years
>Penelope spend 70% of the story rejecting virgin incels (pretendants are teenagers and young adults)
>Chad husband kill all the incels and prevent their families to bury them, Penelope don't feel any remorse
It's gonna be the most Dark Woke movie of all times
>>2865016>self-castrating ChristiansThat's all Christians.
>>2865447All that stuff is in the source material though is it not?
>supporting bourgeoisie libtard identity politics propaganda
You're first into the gulag comrade
>>2865458All spiritual practices, Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, preach celibacy except Judaism and Islam.
>>2865447How the fuck is that dark woke, that just sounds like regular ass feminist misandry
Communism will fund an Aenid film trilogy and it will be PEAK
>>2865479Who will direct it?
>>2865472Orthodox priests can marry btw
>>2865477And yet, >>2865460-tabby is right. All of that stuff literally was in the source material. We must RETVRN to the myths of yore in which men were punished for sexually harassing women.
>>2865739Odysseus also rapes Circe and then she's nice to him after.
>>2865788Because Chad always wins baybeeeeeeeeee!
>>2865739But Zeus raped shit loads of women and wasn't punished though, it's suitors that get sent to hell or whatever, not the actual powerful rapists - same as it always was with feminism, it's just a cartel to keep 'low value males' down.
>>2864963I guess its an effective marketing strategy to have culture warriors talking about your movie.
>>2865263Also casting a guy who was tall, skinny and older then Napoleon
>>2865923And also retarded
>>2865739>>2865835Because the Greece of the Iliad and Classical Greece were separated by about 500 years, they were radically different civilizations. Just as England in the 1200s and England in the 1700s were both England in the past.
One example is the status of women. By the Classical period, especially, Greek society had become more strongly patriarchal and male authority was formalized through legal and social institutions. Respectable women were expected to remain largely within the household and when they appeared in public, they were to be veiled.
