Is late-stage capitalism just the failing rate of profit and the effects it has on the world?
It seems to me this is all it is, capitalists have given up on giving crumbs to the western working class because the rate of profit has fallen and instead seeks out cuts and regulations of any kind to try to sustain surplus as much as possible.
Yes, especially as the world is now essentially all enclosed and theres very little left to expand into. Schumpeter also doesnt save capitalism because 1. true schumpeterian moments are unpredictable and rare and 2. Capital isnt a solid bloc but constantly competing with itself so even in a schumpeterian moment of expansion some blocs of capital are still incentivized to gut the social contract in a way that manifests as late stage capitalism
