Sometimes I really wonder how some Western leftists see the world. I genuinely can't comprehend how people can be this wrong about politics. I wouldn't even call them naive, because that would be unfair to children, who usually have a better grasp of politics than they do.
Anyone whose read history or just lives in the world know that labor unions are at best, basically social clubs that can negotiate for better pay, a few extra vacation days and decent benefits. At worst they're quasi-mob patronage networks and more often than they're somewhere in between. But in times of war or serious conflict, they almost always end up aligning with some form of ethnonationalist politics. You can find examples of this in virtually every part of the world throughout history.

Yes, most of the human population is, in fact, reactionary by instinct. As if we didn't know that already.
The point is that labour being organised pits them against the right due to economic interest even if they would otherwise align due to cultural values or some other stupid group identity. When they are atomised they can't really fight back economically, so they just submit while telling themselves it's fine because at least the queers get beat up or whatever.
