Analytical Note – Turkey (RKSM(b) )Turkey positions itself as a gas hub, seeking to become a key energy hub for Europe and the Middle East. Since 2025, the gas trade center project together with the Russian Gazprom and the Turkish company Botas has been underway in Istanbul. Gas prices are planned to be calculated according to the new Istanbul gas index, and the infrastructure is created on the basis of the Istanbul financial center. 12] Turkey plans to expand gas imports not only from Russia, but also from other countries: Iran, Azerbaijan, Qatar, Oman, Algeria. In 2023-2024, the country signed side contracts for liquefied natural gas with Shell, Oman LNG and ExxonMobil. The Istanbul gas hub will theoretically allow “depersonalize” gas sold to the European market to remove the risks of discrimination against Russian supplies. But there is a problem: the bourgeoisie in all countries always tend to bite off even more than they can swallow. The technical possibilities of gas delivery from Turkey to Europe are quite limited. And the Turkish bourgeoisie seeks to monetize its favorable geographical position, but does not want to invest in infrastructure alone. The existing capacity of the gas pipeline to Europe is already used almost completely, and without new routes, experts doubt the possibility of meeting the needs of the European market. 1313] Despite its growing appetite, Turkey remains an imperialist predator of local scale. Therefore, it is necessary to consider its relationship with the larger imperialists.

They damaged office equipment while filming themselves. According to their own statements, they wanted to protest Germany’s arms exports to Israel and put a stop to them. None of them had a criminal record; all of them waited at the scene for the police to arrive. Since then, the Stuttgart prosecutor’s office has charged the five with property damage, now estimated at over €1 million. It is casting them as members of “Palestine Action Germany,” said to be a criminal organization under Section 129 — a statute usually reserved for terrorist and organized crime groups. It also argues that the raid had “antisemitic” motives — an accusation that the defendants strongly deny. The five defendants, who hold Irish, British, Spanish, and German citizenship, have been held in high-security detention, much of it in isolation, ever since. The trial, which began in April but is expected to last into next year, is widely considered a landmark case for Palestine solidarity in Germany. One of the defendants is Daniel Tatlow-Devally. The Irishman has been held in jail ever since his arrest last September, often spending as much as twenty-three hours a day confined to his cell. For journalist Karim Natour, it took months to get permission for an interview with Tatlow-Devally — and to schedule an appointment. Finally, authorities approved a one-hour meeting. In this interview, originally published in German weekly der Freitag, Natour and Tatlow-Devally spoke about conditions in prison, the reasons for the Ulm Five’s actions, and what the case says about the German state’s response to pro-Palestine activism.

In the light of recent events (Newsletter Industrial Conference, formation of the Socialist Labour League), and because of the relative lull in the Labour Party at the present time, this seems to be a suitable time to re-examine some of our basic conceptions on the problems of work in Britain. To the sectarian splinter groups on the edge of, or to the left of the Fourth International (the Workers League, the Socialist Workers Federation and other tiny grouplets), the problem is posed in the simplest of terms: the Social Democracy and Stalinism have betrayed the working class; therefore the independent party of the working class must immediately be built. They claim the independence of the revolutionary party as a principle, whether the party consists of two or two million.
They do not take into account the historical development of the movement of the working class, which conditions the tactics, while maintaining the principles of the Marxists. Without flexible tactics it is impossible to win or train the forces which must be won before a revolutionary party can be built. Unfortunately, the movement of the working class does not proceed in a straight line. Otherwise, all that would be necessary would be to proclaim from the street corners the need for a revolutionary party – as the SPGB has proclaimed for 50 years the superiority of Socialism over capitalism – but with completely barren results. We have to start with an understanding of the working class and the Labour Movement as it emerges historically, with the consciousness determined by objective conditions on the one hand, and the betrayal of Stalinism and Social Democracy, which for us are objective factors, on the other hand; and the weakness of the revolutionary forces, which also becomes an important factor of the historical process. How to overcome the weakness and isolation of the revolutionary movement, whilst maintaining its principles intact, is the basic task of this epoch.
