Either way, socialism isn't when Porky gives you social assistance or welfare. Socialism is when workers control the means of production, either directly or through a vanguard party.

Sunan has its porkies, but the economy is heavily state owned and state directed. Huaxi is a key example, where the local commune got exorbitantly rich and all the actual commune residents live totally luxe lives. This is literally luxury socialism, but not fully automated.

I don't necessarily think commodities are incompatible with socialism (I do think that modern China is a capitalist empire), but exchange values are the capitalist thing that needs to be gotten rid of, like yeah everything with a use and exchange value is a commodity that's what it is. In communism there won't be commodities because there won't be exchange value because exchange value is just what is given to something by the market.
