The US was literally on the verge of social and economic collapse during the 70s but then Mao just had an autism moment and backstabbed the USSR and entire communist world, forcing them to sign SALT I and letting America recover.
Legit what the fuck was his problem?

Nobody in this scenario was communist. The USSR and Maoist China were capitalist country with state owned corporations. Yeah those corporations didn't compete in a free market, but that doesn't happen in USA either lmao.

at least he was doing something you fucking racist leftkkkom!

Who gives a shit? That was over 50 years ago, and most of us who lurk here weren’t even born yet. China has caught up already anyway.

Reminder: if you don't think nationalism, peaceful coexistence and trademaxxing is the real movement that abolishes the present state of things, you are glowie mossad ultroid anti-communist. Marxism is not a dogma y'all!

>>2893413

Petty nationalism was more important to Mao than socialist victory over capitalism.

you should read marx and learn what the reserve army of labor is so you can blame porky for giving jobs to the cheapest bidder rather than blaming the most desperate and poor people for taking those jobs. When America first started borrowing from China in the 1980s, the average Chinese person made 40x less (admittedly not adjusting for local purchasing power). This is just how imperialism works. The nations with currency hegemony and technological/military supremacy get to dictate the development of capital, and that usually means privatization, deregulation, union busting, outsourcing, sanctions, embargoes, coups, asssassinations, fomenting civil wars, balkanizing nations, etc. All roads lead to rome so don't be surprised when the people who mine the minerals in your computer eventually start to "steal" (be given) "your" office and factory jobs.

read a little more slowly and respond to things which were said. i did not say anything good about the chinese government i just told you the chinese people should not be thought of as a collective scab and rather you should understand the structural features of capitalism as a system. i know this goes against the ethos of this website which that every post has to be hostile and trolling but you could give it a try.

Your timeline is fucked. The US was fine when Mao aligned with that west. The illusion of impending collapse came later with the oil crises. (And it was an illusion!)

Very obvious none of you possess even a Wikipedia-level understanding of the Sino-Soviet split. Given that the People's Republic of China still exists and the Soviet Union doesn't, I'd say Mao made the right fucking call in denouncing the de-Stalinized USSR as revisionists with social imperialist aspirations.

>The US was literally on the verge of social and economic collapse during the 70s
Is no one going to point out how retarded this is? The US was at the height of its power in the 70s. It was the world's hegemon. Everything we have in tech including the technology behind the GUI and the Web was created by the US in the 70s.

On the other hand, China was actually a third world feudal backwater with no industry or technology. One of the poorest countries in the world coming out of the Japanese occupation. On top of that it was completely isolated and had no allies (except Albania) as it was dealing with the cold war against the West and the Sino-Soviet split which was as much Khruschev's fault for agitating China as Mao's.

Don't look too closely at U.S.-Soviet relations prior to the Cold War and where the Soviet Union got those designs to make those tractors and the GAZ A/AA and the blueprints for those steel factories and so on.

Or who the project managers were on a lot of those projects. Hydroelectric dams too.

>>2894567
Or the fact that Stalin introduced the Popular Front that sent Western communist parties down the path of exclusive electoralism, or that he dissolved the Comintern, or was perfectly happy to agree on spheres of influence with imperialist powers. Peaceful coexistence in all but name. Khruschev really was just a continuation of tends initiated by Stalin.

>>2894598

Because nobody wanted to die in nuclear hellfire.

>>2894598
I think you can justify it with its own logic, but Mao being bad for beginning the normalization of relations with the U.S. unlike the USSR… which did that in 1933… is a bit weird and ahistorical.

>>2893413
the ussr was a bigger threat to global socialism than the usa back in the 60s and 70s google what social imperialism is you fucking retard

>>2894649
Truke but for China also

>>2894624
I've been saying this for a while, and it's not really meant to be a dig at Stalin. I'd say that most of his decisions were reasonable under the circumstances, and that he couldn't have foreseen the long term effects. It's just a fact though that Stalin was already doing a lot of what people criticize Khruschev for.

>>2894660
I think it's kind of like

>Ford Motor Company send help

>Need industry plz

Ford to USSR:

<Don't you guys have engineers, what's up?

>They ded :(

It makes sense when you think about it. MLs online have a weird habit of talking about Soviet industrialization like communism doing it somehow by magic. If you believe communism really hard then factories sprout up out of the ground with trained engineers and workers. It doesn't work that way in reality. Believing in communism probably didn't hurt though because it's a materialist outlook.

> Yeah those corporations didn't compete in a free market
The world was then and has been since the the end of WW2, a socialist world. Socialist as Marx understood it. Yeah because allocation by markets and profitability doesn't matter anymore or matters very little in allocation of production. The allocation of resources is all centrally planned and about if the company useful to the elite and their state apparatus, if they are they can stay and grow and they never even need to be profitable, because they get propped up by the state through various channels and associated insiders, if you are not or you don't matter you just float there and die off with the next economic shock. Markets and profitability don't matter, nor do companies live or die by it. That's why there are multi billion dollar unprofitable companies floating around at the top of the economy. Doesn't look like capitalism to me. It's all just state socialism everywhere with different goals. USSR was just a one big corporation with the goal of ensuring russia's et al. survival, industrializing and expanding productive forces, with the party at the head doing all the same things that a sovereign Russian liberal government would have done in their place, with maybe a small smidgeon of humanity, piece of the pie and dignity left to the workers under communism. Mutt and wider western bourgeoisie socialism is just there to keep the society itself from collapsing, proles down and the old age old families and social order in power. The existing social pyramid is justified with a story of competition in the free market and a thin veneer of pretense capitalism. The meme you people keep falling for.

China and the west look the same because they are the same fundamentally. China just has more economic freedom of movement, less gunk and less intermediate steps, in the systems gears and the elites understand the game better. While the west is in terminal collapse and the ideological bourgeoisie/elite is hellbent in wrecking their systems for the sake of appearances and their own personal appearance of power and of them still being relevant and at the top of the world power instead of accepting reality and reforming politically.

What you call "socialist" in Marxist theory is called monopoly capitalism. Socialism as Marx understands it is when the worker's control the means of production.

In Marxist theory, competition is merely a phase before accumulation takes place. After that comes monopoly capitalism (and imperialism). Your are correct in your analysis that competition is not that important today in capitalism and that everything is controlled by monopolies. But you confuse that with socialism for some reason.

>China and the west look the same because they are the same fundamentally.

You are not qualified to make that determination. You don't even know what socialism is in Marxist theory. China and the west are not the same.
