So, I'm about to become a manager's assistant, and hopefully after some time a manager proper, which is to say – in classical ML lingo, – I'm climbing the ladder from a productive worker's position to that of an overseer, which inevitably means that in terms of objective class positions, I'm moving from the run of the mill prole to one that is in service of capital, namely, my new function will essentially be to ensure an optimal production process, which inevitably involves neat things like "keeping the workplace clean" but more importantly, heightening the rate of exploitation, etc.

Yet, I'm a fucking communist. And I need this new position, I desperately need a better wage, so I took the job without a moment of existential crisis, or whatever.

So I would like to axe you guys if you've faced such a dilemma before, and how you resolved the contradictions between the individual and the social, meaning still being a fucking communist, yet having to order proles to "properly" submit to the rule of capital, WHILE trying to maintain… sanity…

On the one hand I feel that I earned this position through my blood sweat n' tears: I was always among the best workers, no matter the job, and I differentiated myself from the rest by delivering the highest quality product, doing it the fastest, being reliable and punctual, etc. Just so it happens that this particular company noticed it and said, "Hey, we need this guy," or, "Hey, what about this guy for this position?"

On the other, I understand – to a degree – being called a "nerd" or an "asslicker" behind my back by my fellow proles. To their criticism (or parody, morelike) I would say that I'm simply not "built" in a way that I could ever possibly do the absolute minimum at a job, so that I get paid what everyone else AND not get fired. It's just not an option for me, on a subjective level. Even at my most boring conveyor-belt job, while working, I was constantly thinking about the work I was doing and how to improve my speed, agility, whatever, while I saw my fellow conveyor-slaves dreaming about whatever, or talking about how the company provided dinner "better be good this time," or whatever. (And I'm not blaming them, tbh. It's an alienated existence, but I think there are cracks and there's luck and then you can break through.)

I'm an intense person, an intense personality.

I hate nothing more at work when the manager tells us: "Production is halted [for some reason], but the cameras are watching, so PLEASE PRETEND to be DOING SOMETHING!" Like, FUCK THAT SHIT! It is in these moments when I think to myself: why am I even here? Just send me back home with the company bus. Stop wasting my time, etc. But when there's work, I'm at the front, pouring my muscles and brainses into it. I become one with the flow. Cynically, I could say, that I actually enjoy my alienation.

Tangent aside, I wanted to ask some practical and, admittedly, moralistic/ethical questions to (ex?-) fellow commie proles and their experiences with managers. Mundane questions, like "what makes a good manager" or "who was the best manager you had, and what qualities made him like so?"

BTW, I've read Lenin before Deng, and our "bordiga-oid" leftcoms still scratch their heads when Lenin says that "we," meaning soviets, need to learn from burger managerial structures, etc. (obv, I'm paraphrasing, and obv., this is from the NEP period…) I'm wondering (and hoping), that somehow, with this managerial path I have taken, I could gather experience that would allow me to shape in a post-revolutionary situation my outlook and perhaps state policies regarding the genre.

As for my inevitable anarcho-tard critics, I would just say one thing, one thing that is based on 5 years of productive labor experience.

Proles work, lumpen-proles, while employed temporarily, work AND steal. I have ZERO problems with my fellow workers lifting completely idiotic, say, hygiene products from the hygiene product factory and either hoarding them at home or running a side (petty) business, selling said articles to an arab petty-bourgeois shop owner, or what-fucking-ever. Good for you, as far as I'm concerned: you substituted your income. The capitalist exploits you, and you found a way to "get back at him," or "get a larger piece of the pie," or whatever. I have no moral qualms about this (inevitable, structural) phenomenon.

HOWEVER, and here we traverse into hypothetical territories, in my labour experience, having "profiled" dozens of these guys and gals who steal from the capitalist workplace, I would say that even IF we had a successful communist revolution, these same motherfuckers would keep stealing from the socialized factories, no matter what.

TL;DR: lumpen is as much a social as a subjective category. If you had no problems with
1) risking your own job every single day (typically, exiting a productive workplace, like a factory, involves searches by a security guy);
2) taking something that is LEGALLY (spooky, and bourgeois, I know) not yours;
3) having these pre-mediated thoughts and strategies and whatnot – I'm trying to emphasize here to subjective investment these coworkers had and have invested in planning stealing OVER planning working …) instead of being an excellent fucking worker (like I was, like I am),

I'm almost certain that you will keep up this habit of yours, a lumpen habit, even after a successful communist revolution. And mind you, I come from an ex-socialist country, and stealing from factories (etc.) was fucking rampant, and back then, basically the shift-leader and the factory bureaucracy and the state-mandated workers union covered your ass if you got caught…….

In any case, and I welcome your input and advice, I know that I should NOT report thieves at the workplace, (DUH!) but I suspect that 95% of these people are anti-social degenerates, who will continue the same behaviour under the lowest stage of communism, socialism.
