The bigger issue is when they want their own team instead.
To do that, they need to be able to identify with another team. That's the hard part - the right does a good job of keeping people in an informational-emotional space where they feel like they're part of the team even as they're fucked over. The left has trouble fighting this because it is inherently adversarial to people on the right wing team, and so people on the right will just reflexively view the left as an enemy outgroup.
All ideologies are reactionary regardless what wing of capital they're on. The ruling ideas are the ideas of the ruling class.
