i’ve been seeing so many different views on the internet, so i’m super confused, but i’ve noticed that a lot of groups criticize trotskyism, primarily due to its association with intraleft criticisms. what do all of you think? are trotskyists just whiners or is their fourth international genuinely a continuation of the eventual state of communism?

i mean that ought to tell you something right there, when self-criticism becomes unacceptable and tantamount to treason. people think that being left-wing or right-wing is something you choose and put on like it's an article of clothing, but it isn't. it's the way you think that defines your politics, and if you think that thoughts can be dangerous and asking questions can be dangerous and criticizing yourself or your peers or your movement or your ideology can be dangerous, you're operating in the authoritarian framework, plain and simple.
the people who glom onto these authoritarian perversions of socialist ideology are just frauds, charlatans, phonies, and they probably don't even know it. they can't know it because they don't know how to think in a non-authoritarian framework, that's all they've ever known and they've never put in the work that is required to overcome it. they'd rather look for shortcuts, look for some costume they can wear to present themselves as a "leftist" and a "revolutionary" without actually learning anything about the world or themselves, they're still the selfish hate-filled narcissists they were groomed to be since childhood, they're still confused angry alienated hollow people with no real sense of self, constantly seeking external validation and feeling like they have to be part of something big and loud and exciting that they can lose themselves in for their lives to have meaning and value.
as for trotsky, he was just a typical obedient team player towing the party line for most of his life, it wasn't until later that he became disillusioned enough with all the hypocrisy and bullshit that he finally spoke out and all it got him was an ice pick in his skull. that's the nature of authoritarianism and in-group mentality in general, you're either with us or against us, you keep your mouth shut and don't ask questions, you go along to get along, the ends justify the means, lead follow or get out of the way. there's a reason why it's so common for people to think that way - because it's easy, it's the path of least resistance, it feels good to shut off your thoughts and feelings and just lose yourself in the high of external validation getting respect and attaboys from other people, it feels good to line the enemies up against the wall and shoot them and spit on their corpses without guilt or remorse, it feels good to undergo a soft lobotomy that shuts out the higher-level mammalian part of your brain and become a reptile who feels like a god.
It's not so much the theory, but the people themselves that are the problem. Many orgs refuse to work with Trots for a reason. The newspaper cult thing is real, very real. I wish it wasn't, but it is.

Trotsky was right about most things but he was an annoying nerd while Stalin was attractive and charismatic. Also he lost and people don't like losers

where, instead of it being distinguished/abstracted out of existence, trotsky's later works are deemed ahistorically supreme to years of him contradicting them (most representative by hue and cry over kronstadt, a deeply unselfaware work), it's all very inconsistent as a result. or
