No, Capital is far too dense for a novice, since it also requires secondary reading from previous writers, such as Smith and Ricardo. I would recommend Marx's "Wage Labour and Capital" (1847), and "Value, Price and Profit" (1865) as introductory texts, as well as Engels' "Synopsis of Capital" (1867), which attempts to summarise major points within the text. For other summaries, there is Carlo Cafiero's "Karl Marx's Capital" (1879) although it can be too indulgent. After getting the gist, you can read "Critique of the Gotha Programme" (1875) which offers a simple case of how Marx envisioned the basic functions of a Communist society.

Read "socialism : utopian and scientific" by Engels before reading Capital. It's a short intro that contextualizes why marxism is "scientific", what Marx inherited from Hegel, and lastly a short explanation and demonstration of historical materialism.

The book is pretty short and easy to read. You can even skip the first part if you want.

After that you don't really need much more to delve into the "big works" like Capital, the Anti-Duhring, or the 1844 manuscripts. It should all be relatively clear based on what you've read.
