The emergence of capitalism is recent and things have accelerated faster than people can adapt to. We are used to foraging, hunting, farming, fishing, or scavenging. But now you can work in the rat wheel for 8 hours a day for five days a week, at minimum, to be able to afford obesity, rentals, and carcinogenic drugs. Capitalism is awkward to humankind; we are used to frolicking freely in the sun.
Replace "capitalism" with "civilisation" and you are even more correct.
