Who would dig ditches and clean toilets under communism? My intro to sociology professor said it would be volunteers on a rotating basis but I don’t see that happening.
>>2914360>Who would dig ditches and clean toilets under communism?Scatophiliacs.
Probably the same people who do it now but maybe with a bit more incentive. I don't know.
Not me. I’d be head commissar of the peoples commissariat for racial hygiene.
Possible answers:
- Robots
- National service system (i.e. conscription where young people out of high school either go into the army or a public works labour corps for several years before beginning post-secondary education)
- People who want a job that's not particularly difficult (in a technical sense) and doesn't demand much responsibility, but still allows for comfortable living (as all jobs would under socialism).
It would probably be some combination of these three.
you will. As the head of the local party cell, I will personally see to it that you will be forced to fix all of the sewers or else your food rations will be canceled.
Clean your own toilet you lazy bum
How does capitalism ensure this happens right now?
oh no, people need to do stuff. communism debunked. long live exploitation
Me
OP
>>2914360The great atheist enlightenment figure Lenin explained by citing the Bible: "He who does not work, neither shall he eat." If you think huh, that doesn't sound too different than capitalism, well, yeah, this is the best humanity can do under agriculture, apparently.
>>2914856And yet they made fun of me for saying Marxist countries are esoteric feudalism, in a good way.
>the best humanity can do under agriculture, apparentlyI agree with you, just thought you were missing something
I'd be on toilet cleaning duty, I unironically really enjoy cleaning stuff
the real question is : "why wouldnt people clean toilets under socialism?"
humans have valued cleanliness since time immemorial. what would change to turn us into lazy bums?
>>2914360We're going to rusticate the trad influencers
>>2914360I would. Just pay a living wage.
construction workers and janitors probably
Under communism digging ditches and cleaning toilets will be rightfully recognized as more socially productive labor than fake email jobs
>>2914360>Who would dig ditches and clean toilets under communism?a. People with severe mental disabilities that disqualify them from intellectual labor.
b. People serving time in rehabilitative labor.
c. People who otherwise would work in construction but can't for whatever health problems since those jobs require sun exposure and physical strength.
d. If it is, for example, an office's toilet, every employee could take turns doing janitor services.
e. If a particular job position direly needs to be filled and simultaneously doesn't need specialized skill to perform, there could be a "job tax" where people such as doctors, lawyers, engineers etc have to perform X amount of months or years working part of their work-week at those jobs.
>My intro to sociology professor said it would be volunteersVolunteering doesn't work. Jobs are work, not hobbies. That being said, it's not unthinkable that a small number of people would take these jobs out of their own will just because. Obviously not enough to fill in the ranks, but they would exist.
You also have to take into consideration that those jobs wouldn't be "dead end" as they are in capitalism. You would be able to live comfortably for the rest of your life until retirement, risking no unemployment, and your means of living wouldn't be too far from that of a top paying white collar.
>>2914372Pausing education like this is not ideal because education is a skill that degrades with time.
the hidden implication in these kinds of conservative arguments is that society requires a certain segment of losers to handle all of the lowly practical kinds of work which the winners consider to be beneath their station and would never do. of course they can never say this part out loud because it completely contradicts all of the major core assertions of the conservative ethos, that we can create a society composed only of winners and zero losers, and we must structure society in such a way that it rewards/protects winners and punishes/exterminates losers, and that the losers are a burden on society who contribute nothing and have no use or value whatsoever and the winners do not need the losers and are held back by the losers and prevented from achieving true greatness because we are too soft and unwilling to eliminate the losers.
when the question is raised as to how to handle these kinds of physical labor tasks, such as cleaning toilets, in a loserless society, the conservatives defer to science fiction handwaving by suggesting we simply use robots to do it, as if it's a very straightforward simple job to automate. but if anyone actually used their brain for a moment to think it through, it would soon be realized that cleaning a toilet is not nearly as simple a task as we think it is. it just seems simple and straightforward to us because we are humans with an unmatched level of manual dexterity and motor-visual coordination and spatial awareness and all these other amazing highly-evolved intrinsic abilities that we tend to take for granted, but ask any robotics expert about building a toilet cleaning robot and they will laugh in your face at how naive and unrealistic this proposition is and they wouldn't even know where to begin with describing all the extremely difficult problems one would run into trying to build such a thing. there's an episode of nathan for you that highlighted this pretty well, where nathan decides to become a daredevil who risks a fate even worse than death by challenging himself to escape from a pair of handcuffs before a robotic arm unbuttons and unzips and removes his pants and exposes him to a crowd of children and he becomes a convicted sex offender, and the task of building the robotic arm ends up being far more complicated than he expected and several compromises have to be made because the technology to make a robot unbutton a button and pull down a zipper simply doesn't exist and is far beyond our capabilities.
the point is, the elite tend to take human manual labor and human process knowledge and less abstract forms of human intelligence for granted, and in doing so they take humanity itself for granted, they devalue the human species and its diverse range of abilities, and this self-hating misanthropy on their part is projected and instilled into the rest of us by elitist propaganda and serves as the backbone of all conservative/right-wing/technofascist/etc. ideology, we are made to believe that the ideal human being is a mr. burns type character who doesn't really do anything and just sits around counting his millions and terrorizing his employees and reveling in his own greatness while mr. smithers fluffs his pillows and feeds him his endangered quail eggs and freshens up his ether rag.
>>2915006True. But who would clean the toilets?
>>2914999I can't help but feel some empathy for the robot. Although it is an unfeeling high-tech tool. It washing it's "hands" was cute.
I was a janitor before its fine work as long as one is compensated fairly.
Toilets need to be cleaned i have no problem with labor tokens going to custodians and janitors.
>>2915018Probably me. I already do it anyways. As long it's night shift it's alright.
>>2914360>Who would dig ditches and clean toilets under communism?Of course the slaves would, and they would face the wall if they didn't

>>2915012>Sasha Grey will clean the toiletsNo. She will hang out with me and you will clean the toilets.
I know this might be shocking to you, but in places with a communal housing some stuff is done on weekly rotational basis. For example I clean the stairwell on my floor every 6 weeks.
>>2915018you clean it after you use it
>>2915037>I know this might be shocking to you, but in places with a communal housing some stuff is done on weekly rotational basis. For example I clean the stairwell on my floor every 6 weeks.Keyword: Personal accountability
>>2915018probably the exact same kinds of people who voluntarily clean toilets in a capitalist society. it's not like every person who is cleaning toilets is doing it against their will and is just a poor helpless victim of circumstance - this is a dehumanizing, condescending, myopic, elitist generalization by egocentric privileged people lacking in emotional intelligence who cannot imagine being anyone other than themselves and they project their own personal principles onto everyone else in the world; if they could never abide cleaning a toilet then surely no one else could either. but there are lots of people who don't mind cleaning disgusting things and even enjoy it and take pride in the work, they find it very satisfying and fulfilling to make a squalid unbearable environment clean and inhabitable again.
there's a very popular youtube channel by a finnish woman named auri katariina who does nothing but clean extremely gross houses and apartments formerly occupied by hoarders and junkies and abandoned elderly/disabled people, cleaning up ceiling-high mountains of garbage and filth and ripping out and replacing carpet and subflooring soaked with vintage cat urine and scrubbing decades worth of caked on shit and grime out of toilet bowls, and she genuinely enjoys doing this and it's kind of the whole reason for her immense popularity is her unusually positive attitude and seemingly inexhaustible patience and energy for extremely demanding and disgusting work. overwrought moms and housekeepers watch her channel for inspiration and people in general just find it relaxing and satisfying to watch. i personally am too much of a pussy to watch it myself, i'll fucking throw up.
How did Sasha Grey clean the toilets again?
I dunno, why do you clean your own toilet without anyone paying you
>inb4 I don’t
Okay assume for the sake of argument you’re a functional adult
I would do it. Under capitalism you are contracted out to clean toilets in a huge building where you have to clear so many in an hour or risk penalties, you are in a workforce painstakingly cut to do the most cleaning possible with minimal people and wages. In communism the value of my labor would be going to me and the benefit of my labor would be going to people around me since somebody does have to clean the bathrooms and we'd be unhappy if that didn't happen. I would have adequate coworkers and compensation where it wouldn't run me ragged. There would be no reason for it to be stigmatized, it would be compensated like most other jobs, and it'd be easy. It would be a good job.
>>2915050>finnish womanFuck that Nazi whore
If it’s done on a rotating basis I’m sure it can work out. Cleaning the toilets once a year doesn’t sound bad.
Take into account that manual labor is actually rewarding. But in today’s society it has become the work of the poor and uneducated.
shame and social exclusion if you don't fill your quota of shit labour for the week/month/year.
what do you think happens if a roommate doesn't do the dishes? same thing

amazing
>>2914360I volunteer, i love this sort of work
>>2914874>And yet they made fun of me for saying Marxist countries are esoteric feudalism, in a good way.but engels said antisemitism is degenerate feudalistic socialism…
https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1890/04/19.htm
<Hence anti-Semitism is merely the reaction of declining medieval social strata against a modern society consisting essentially of capitalists and wage-labourers, so that all it serves are reactionary ends under a purportedly socialist cloak; it is a degenerate form of feudal socialism and we can have nothing to do with that. The very fact of its existence in a region is proof that there is not yet enough capital there. Capital and wage-labour are today indivisible. The stronger capital and hence the wage-earning class becomes, the closer will be the demise of capitalist domination. So what I would wish for us Germans, amongst whom I also count the Viennese, is that the capitalist economy should develop at a truly spanking pace rather than slowly decline into stagnation. criminals
I will.
>>2915060>Why would i be the one cleaning the toilets? Would you want me in a maid outfit too?No. It's Sasha's job to be in a maid outfit if she consents to it. You will be purposed to clean toilets. You will not ask anymore.
