I'm an engineering student and I had an internship last summer in a factory. I like to imagine I understand dialectical materialism pretty well, having read all the books and articles you see recommended in reading lists from the works of Marx, Engles, Lenin, Stalin, mao and others as well as consuming content on the daily analyzing these books. I felt I was ready to discuss dialectical materialism with the factory workers and I gave it my best to make the discussion seem organic and to say thought provoking things and guide them to the conclusions themselves while staying down to earth but the workers never took me seriously and started making jokes at my expense, it's from then they lost all respect for me. Why are the working class like this?
