Eritrea has invaded Ethiopia because ethiopian milltias have repeatly committed a genocide in the territory.
The incursion has just started as of yesterday and is already expanding, Eritrea has easily broken Ethiopian barricades and is fighting the Ethiopian Manace head on now.

I'm sorry to inform you it is fake news that the MSM is running with for I don't know what reason. Reuters is out of their damn minds.

https://www.reuters.com/world/africa/eritrean-troops-drive-through-northern-ethiopian-town-witnesses-say-2026-10-07/

>Two residents of Adigrat, a town in Tigray about 25 km (15 miles) south of the Eritrean border that has not experienced clashes during the current conflict, said they had seen two trucks with dozens of Eritrean soldiers driving through the town on Wednesday morning.

>They said they could identify the soldiers as Eritrean by their off-white camouflage uniforms. Another Adigrat resident who was not in town at the time said family members had told him they had also seen Eritrean troops.
>The witnesses spoke on condition of anonymity because of security concerns related to the ongoing conflict.

Ahh, geee Billy, why does your mom let you have two anonymous witnesses?

>Jalale Getachew Birru, East Africa regional expert for the non-profit Armed Conflict Location & Event Data project, said Eritrean forces had crossed the border at Zelambesa on Wednesday and moved south towards Adigrat.

>The Ethiopian military had carried out drone strikes on vehicles carrying the Eritrean soldiers at Guada, Birru said, without providing further details.

<The Eritrean information minister Yemane said the allegations ‌about the presence of Eritrean fighters were intended to provide Ethiopia with a pretext to attack Eritrea. He did not immediately reply to a request for comment about ACLED's assertion that Eritrean forces had been targeted by Ethiopian government drones.

"Reuters could not independently verify,"
Then what the fuck was the previous article? Fucking cock suckers.

https://www.reuters.com/world/africa/ethiopian-forces-regain-control-border-city-after-reported-eritrean-incursion-2026-10-10/
Eritrea asks UN to intervene in standoff with Ethiopia

>Oct 10 (Reuters) - Eritrea asked the UN Security Council on Saturday to take deterrent measures against Ethiopia, according to a letter seen by Reuters, saying Addis ‌Ababa's accusations of an invasion by Eritrean forces amounted to a "declaration of war".

>The incursion by Eritrean troops, which Asmara has denied and Reuters could not independently verify, has raised fears of a return to all-out war along Ethiopia's northern border where the two Horn of Africa neighbours have clashed before.

>Eritrean Foreign Minister Osman Saleh said in the letter that the incursion claims were part of an Ethiopian plan to justify a war of aggression. He urged the UN to intervene.

<"Eritrea requests the UN Security Council to forcefully condemn Ethiopia's deplorable declaration of war against Eritrea … and take the requisite deterrent measures against it in accordance with Chapter VII of the UN Charter," he wrote.
>Chapter VII allows for measures ranging from sanctions to military action, though Osman did not specify what measures Eritrea was calling for.
>Ethiopia itself wrote to Security Council members on Friday, stating that Eritrean troops had advanced up to 60 km (37 miles) inside the northern region of Tigray in recent days. It warned that the presence of foreign troops left Addis Ababa with no option but to defend itself.

They finally found their cellphones after the Eritrean troops "withdrew." They're like bigfoot. Still no video of the drone strike or the remains of these Eritrean troops and vehicles that were hit. Look how the Guardian doesn't even use the careful phrasing of Reuters. Don't even put a witnesses say or whatever in the headline. It just buries the ACLED think tank which is the source for the claim deep in the article. They are so retarded they don't even capitalize the whole acronym of ACLED. Do they think it's a name?

Holy fuck Ethiopia tried to false flag Eritrea. Crazy bastards. Eritrea is led by a Maoist though so if Ethiopia tries invading they'll lose.

https://www.ena.et/web/eng/w/eng_9535469

>Addis Ababa, September 10, 2026 (ENA)—Israel has thrown its diplomatic weight to support Ethiopia’s quest for securing sea access, with Israeli Ambassador to Ethiopia Avraham Neguise underscoring that his country stands firmly with the East African nation’s efforts to secure maritime access to the Red Sea.

>Speaking to ENA, Neguise said strengthening Ethiopia and promoting stability in the Red Sea is an interest shared by the international community rather than an issue concerning Ethiopia alone.

<“Empowering and strengthening Ethiopia and creating stability in the Red Sea is the interest of all, not only for Ethiopia,” he noted.

>According to him, Israel’s position on Ethiopia’s pursuit of sea access is clear.

<“Israel is behind Ethiopia in this effort. This is clear Israeli policy,” the Ambassador said, stressing that access to the sea is important for Ethiopia to strengthen its economy, safeguard its sovereignty and fosters regional security.

>Today, Ethiopia’s access to the sea is increasingly viewed as a legitimate strategic right, driven by its growing population and economy, expanding import-export trade, and pressing national and regional security interests.

>The country’s geographical proximity to the Red Sea, together with its historical links to the region’s ports, has remained central to its argument for pursuing a sustainable maritime outlet.

>Ethiopia historically administered the ports of Massawa and Assab and maintained naval capabilities before Eritrea’s separation. Most importantly, Ethiopia’s push for sovereign sea access is gaining momentum at the international arena.

<“What Ethiopia is doing now, Israel is supporting. It is behind Ethiopia in this effort”, Ambassador Neguise underscored.

>The Israeli Ambassador reaffirmed Israel’s support for Ethiopia’s pursuit of sea access, stressing that cooperation that aims at improving regional security and economic stability benefits countries across the Horn of Africa region and beyond.

<“If the Red Sea will not be stable and there are terrorists attacking, it is not only the Horn of Africa, it’s not only the Middle East, the whole world economy will suffer,” he said.

https://blogs.timesofisrael.com/after-alamein-ethiopia-pushes-back-as-the-horns-rivalries-harden/

>This alters the maritime equation in a way the Alamein declaration cannot. Assab may remain geographically attractive to Ethiopia, but a port controlled by a state drifting toward direct confrontation with Addis Ababa is not a dependable strategic outlet.

>Political reliability matters more than geography. The worse the Ethiopia–Eritrea relationship becomes, the stronger the incentive for Addis Ababa to diversify away from routes vulnerable to one hostile government.

Israel and the UAE: Ethiopia Is Not Isolated

>The Alamein picture can therefore be misleading if it is read as Ethiopia versus the region. Addis Ababa retains powerful relationships outside that four-state framework, and Israel is the clearest example on the maritime question.

>President Isaac Herzog’s February visit to Ethiopia emphasized a relationship that Israel described as strategic and expanding across security, technology, agriculture, health and innovation. More important for the current dispute, Israeli Ambassador to Ethiopia, Avraham Neguise said in September that Israel supports Ethiopia’s effort to secure Red Sea access and described that position as Israeli policy. Israel MFA Israeli support

>However, this is not an Israeli endorsement of a particular Ethiopian route, and Jerusalem has not publicly tied its support to Berbera or to the 2024 Ethiopia–Somaliland memorandum. The significance lies in the principle Israel accepts Ethiopia’s central argument that being landlocked does not make a country of Ethiopia’s size and location strategically irrelevant to the Red Sea.

>In the post-Alamein context, that places Jerusalem much closer to Addis Ababa than to the idea that Red Sea affairs should be defined only by the coastal states. It also gives Ethiopia an external partner willing to say publicly what many other governments prefer to leave it as ambiguous.

Ethiopia is not going to take one ounce of territory from Eritrea. This is all this situation is. Eritrea is just chilling, living their borders from 1991. In the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eritrean%E2%80%93Ethiopian_War Eritrean Ethiopian war in
>?The Eritrean–Ethiopian War,[a] also known as the Badme War,[b] was a major armed conflict between Ethiopia and Eritrea that took place from May 6, 1998 to June 18, 2000.

Where maybe 100k people died:
>70,000[28]–100,000[29] killed on both sides

It ended with the UN saying that the Ethiopia should give back some occupied territory to Eritrea. Then when the current Prime Minister of Ethiopia took(no he didn't take anything he was selected by the TPLF, the irony) claim to power he agreed immediately to give back the contested territory to Eritrea. He buried the hatchet, and when the Tigrayans who formally selected him he displaced from power came after him, it was Eritrea that saved his government and the whole country of Ethiopia. But then when the US forced a peace agreement with their beloved TPLF, he immediately turned against Eritrea and the Amhara. These people were the ones who beat the TPLF for him. Immediately there was talk of the TPLF invading Eritrea for the TPLF. Whatever talk about the TPLF and Eritrea being on the same side, there is no love lost. I can keep going into detail but I know none of you care and I don't say any of you should. It's complicated and it's not for you. Don't worry about it is the best advice I would give. I hate to be offensive, but the less ignorant crackers involved, the better. I'm sorry your countries decided to give carte blanche about Eritrean refugees(most of them are Ethiopian pretending to be Eritrean)

Rooster hits the washboard, and people just got to smile
Blinky thumps the gut bass and solos for a while
Poor boy twangs the rhythm out on his Kalamazoo
And Willy goes into a dance and doubles on kazoo

Down on the corner, out in the street
Willy and the Poor Boys are playin'
Bring a nickel, tap your feet

>Extreme violence was carried out during the conquest of regions like the Kingdoms of Wolaita and Kaffa to the south, along with Illubabor and other territories in the Sudanese borderlands. Military expeditions into the Somali-inhabited Ogaden region under Ras Makonnen were characterized by massacres and expropriation, laying foundations for future incorporation into the Ethiopian Empire. University of Oxford Professor of African History Richard Reid observes, "Menelik's empire was as brutally violent and as reliant on the atrocity-as-method genre of imperialism as the European colonial projects developing apace on Menelik's borders."

>>2930872
>The incorporation of the southern highlands created unprecedented resources for the imperial core. Before the mid-19th century, Emperor Tewodros II had relied on tribute from the central regions for revenue, but by the start of the 20th century, these same regions provided very little and the majority of state revenue was drawn from the south. Exaction on northern peasants by the imperial state was lightened, and the burden was shifted to the newly ruled southerners.[173] While wealth flowed north to the Amhara imperial core, driving regional development, the newly conquered lands saw little change except for the worsening pre-feudal economic conditions of the local population, exacerbated by land seizures and looting by imperial forces.[9]

>In contrast to imperial expansion into the central and northern highlands, where locals were protected by shared ethnicity and kinship, the people of the south lost most of their traditional lands to the Amhara rulers and were reduced to tenancy on their own lands.[129] The vast southwards expansions carried out by Emperor Menelik exacerbated the divide between the largely Semitic-populated north and the primarily Cushitic-inhabited south, creating the conditions which encouraged significant future social and political transformations.[174] Ethiopian historian Dr. Lapiso Gedelebo described the consequences of Menelik's conquest:[175]

<Menelik managed to effectively destroy the other competing centers of the country and elevate his own group to a position of dominance and power. In conclusion, though Amhara interests and the national interests converged at certain points. Menelik's policies should be best understood as the Amharanization, rather than the nationalization of Ethiopia. This was his legacy and herein can be found the seeds of some of the problems of Ethiopia today.

You could call this chapter the revenge of the cushites against the semites. It's not even about that tho. There is that aspect going on, but still Ethiopia is and probably always will be an Amharic kind of creation. They still do all government business in Amharic, but the Oromos are trying to get their place. They call it the Oromoization of Ethiopia.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglo-Ethiopian_Treaty_of_1897

> Ethiopia's claim on the Ogaden rested on the Anglo-Ethiopian Treaty of 1897. International law professor W. Michael Reisman observes:[4]

<As a matter of law and fact, the 1897 treaty was void because it presumed an authority which the Somalis had never accorded to Great Britain. The Somalis gave no authority to the British to transfer Somali territory to another state. Ironically the British had committed themselves to protect Somali territory and this was the manifest reason for the Protectorate. In attempting to transfer the land to Ethiopia, the British were acting without competence, exceeding their jurisdiction and concluding an agreement without the participation of the central party.

I'm not an expert in the Balkans, but is Croatia the Taiwan of the Balkans? The Eritrea and Somalia of the Balkans? Why should countries like Hungary and Austria be landlocked? Why shouldn't some other country give away cities to them? Everyone deserves a coast right?

Something else to add, Ethiopia is really like a city-state masquerading as a large country.

>The table below shows cities and towns with more than 40,000 inhabitants (from the projection for 2016 by using the 2007 census data).[1][2] The population numbers are referring to the inhabitants of the cities themselves, suburbs and the metropolitan area outside the city area are not taken into account. Given the suburbs and the metropolitan area, the number of inhabitants might be much larger in several cases. Addis Ababa, for example, might have a total population of 4.5 to 5 million if also taking the metropolitan area into account.

Addis is the only city that really matters. Even when the Tigrayans were in power for 20 something years, it's not like they used their power to power to develop the Tigray region. They got kicked out of power by the Oromos and had to go back to be kings of their backwater instead of the one developed city in the country.

Also to add that having a port wouldn't change anything for Ethiopia.

File: 1791878327302-8.png (849.22 KB, 899x1761, ClipboardImage.png)

Also, most of you probably don't know or remember, but when Abiy decided to announce that he would take a port by force, he said he would do it from Djibouti, Somalia, or Eritrea. He was making moves with Somaliland and receiving a port from them in exchange for recognition before the more recent Trump and Israel stuff.

>He has called his landlocked country’s borders a “geographic prison” and referred to the Red Sea as Ethiopia’s “natural boundary.” He has urged Eritrea, Djibouti and Somalia to negotiate port access in order “to ensure lasting peace.”

>“We want to get a port by peaceful means, but if that fails we will use force,” Abiy told a meeting of businessmen, according to Kenyan newspaper The Nation.

>On January 1, 2024, Abiy took his plan a step further when he signed a pact with the breakaway region of Somaliland to lease port access.

>“This is the good news we bring to all the people of Ethiopia, Somaliland and all the peace- and development-loving people,” Abiy said in a televised news conference with Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

>The 50-year deal will see Somaliland lease 20 kilometers of coastland to Ethiopia for port access and to establish a naval base. In exchange, Ethiopia will give Somaliland an undisclosed number of shares of its state-run airline.

>During the televised signing, Abdi delivered the surprising news when he said Ethiopia also will become the first country to recognize Somaliland as an independent nation.

>“The entire region was up in arms about these statements,” Balqiis Insights senior Horn of Africa analyst Samira Gaid told The New York Times.

So Rubio has issued a statement telling Ethiopia to de-escalate and to stick to the 2018 Eritrea-Peace Agreement. I'm feeling to lazy to write a long write up of the background so you can see these Gemini answers which give a good summary.

Secretary Rubio’s Call with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy
>Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke today with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali. The Secretary and Prime Minister discussed heightened tensions with Eritrea.

>The Secretary supports de-escalation by all sides. The only sustainable solution to internal and external tensions is achieved through dialogue and engagement as agreed to in the 2018 Ethiopia-Eritrea peace framework.

>The Secretary stressed that all countries in the Horn of Africa must respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of their neighbors and avoid cross-border incursions. The Secretary emphasized that the region cannot tolerate more conflict.

< We have agreed to bring down the wall between us. Now there is no border between Ethiopia and Eritrea. That border line has gone today with the display of a true love … love is greater than modern weapons like tanks and missiles. Love can win hearts, and we have seen a great deal of it today here in Asmara. From this time on, war is not an option for the people of Eritrea and Ethiopia. What we need now is love.

>— Abiy Ahmed

< The Eritrean people have today had the chance to express their true love and emotion for Ethiopians. We can imagine that the decisions the prime minister of Ethiopia took were not easy ones. But we can assure you we will face the future together. We will work as one.

>— Isaias Afewerki

Hopefully happening cancelled.

Abiy Ahmed's statement on the call:
>I held a very fruitful telephone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State @marcorubio on key bilateral, regional and multilateral issues of mutual interest.

>Our discussion is proof to the commitment of both countries in translating the enduring relationship between Ethiopia and the United States into a more strategic and practical partnership.

>I welcome the assurance of continued U.S. support for Ethiopia and our shared commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation and addressing regional and multilateral priorities.
