If you believe the world is in crisis, doesn't a crisis warrant radical response?
The main thing that bothers me about centrism, liberalism, or even soc-dem progressives, is that they seemingly agree that we are facing multiple compounding crises, but also don't want to rock the boat too much in trying to address them.

There even seems to be consensus now about "taxing the rich", but some sort of naive optimism that the system itself isn't the problem and that maybe the next Elon Musk will be a good guy who builds wells in Africa or something. It's not a coincidence that this network of Peter Theil, Palantir, Meta, exists and operates the way it does.

What is so scary about far left politics that keeps people in the center? For me it feels like a hestitancy to actually implement any real change or believe change is really possible, to quote Mark Fisher -"it is easier to imaging the end of the world than an end to capitalism".

People don't want to engage in revolutionary politics because it might mean things get worse, and people don't want to let go of the Starbucks and brunch,SNL, Taylor Swift normalcy that they are trying to maintain, but if you agree that the climate crisis exists then that's all going to burn away anyway. President AOC isn't going to stop it.

It reminds me of the early months of Covid, before it hit the US. "I'm more concerned about anti asian racism that the virus", "It's just a flu", remember it wasn't just the political right saying "it's just a flu" before it became officially a pandemic? That's the same place we are politically right now, but the lockdowns are coming.

Is there a point where electoralism fails for you? If republicans try something in 2028 is there a line where revolutionary politics becomes reasonable, or are you going to write to your elected representative about the gestapo?

I'm sympathetic to those who say revolution is untenable because of their obligations to their family or don't want to risk their own safety. I'm not sympathetic to people who "worry about extermism on both sides" while seemingly agreeing the climate is fucked.

Sorry if I think the french protests are much more effective than jumping up and down in an inflatable frog costume.
