You say it as if "science" were trying something new. TMS only became available in the late 2000s in the most developed countries, and no one has even tried using it to treat gender dysphoria (well, except for one Indian study, but there weren't any details, so I doubt it ever happened).
And this is only TMS, there is also something more advanced and new.

We are all "spooked" , you probably aren't neutral either. Morality is a collection of common rites and valuations. Whether one may consider them valid or not, as human history is usually a tale of the transformation of those.
Plus, how can a judgement being a "spook" may make it an undesirable content without assuming there be a negative content in the spook itself.

Believing an idea or not believing are simply assumptions of its truth then, and ultimately a similar act. Why would not believing into it be a better choice here?
