Queer label discourse is so stupid why do people put so much importance on labels, especially the fact they don’t mean anything. Plenty of cis people use the trans label, a lot of bi women call themselves lesbians, many straight men also sleep with guys like labels unironically mean nothing. I saw this discourse about whether lesbianism includes people who aren't women or people who are attracted to men, like 😭 okay, why are people even spending their life energy arguing this stuff, like online people talk a lot of shit they don't stand on in real life and they can argue all day about that online but what really matters it what occurs IRL.

The fact that these labels are used in the real world makes them matter and people argue about them under the conceit of gatekeeping these groups. For the discourse around calling yourself a lesbian there's the implied consequence of "gaining access to lesbian bodies".
Flood detected; Post discarded.

When their profile says some shit like
lesbian dogboy genderfucked agender autismthing
then you know they call trans women things that even Mumsnet hestitates to say out loud.

Dating apps are one place where those identities made perfect sense though. You need something that lets you filter people.

>>2510
The only things that are really relevant for dating aps should be your own sex and gender identity and which ones you're interested in.

>>2510
no way bro i bet you complained when grindr stopped letting you filter by race

>>2513
They actually had that option? That is amazing, straights are miles behind on this, they are only now implementing height filters.

Why not other things too? Maybe I want to fuck a dominant vegan maoist, and directly asking everyone I match with whether they are dominant vegan maoist is awkward.

Narcissism. Its a surrogate for religion, which post-Stonewall queers are apparently allergic to. The labels never meant anything objective to begin with. They were always flawed and fake. Human sexuality is too polymorphous and fluid to ever be nailed down to labels. But people have built identities, communities, marriages, mythistory on labels. We subconsciously acknowledge they are fake, but we keep up the pretense because the reality of fluid sexuality is too mentally disturbing. Since queers are fanatically anti-religious fundamentalists, they have replaced Christianity with their own theological structure. Interpreting one's self and debating identity labels instead of interpreting scripture and doing theology. Its the classic secular thing of trying to plug the spiritual hole that they created by destroying religion in the first place.

One day, I hope we can reach a world without these labels.

I feel like there is nothing more meaning less than the lesbian label right now.
