Most of it certainly was racism, but the other hand was many of them were so dumb and uneducated that they truly believed black people were inferior
If we make like the kind of stuff Julia Serano and Forest Valkai pushes in mainstream highschool level education I'm sure we'd have less of these issues, as with any sort of social issue education and political lines solve them

isn't it because for most human beings the sex you are born with determines which type of gamete you can produce? hormones and surgery can alter the physical characteristics which are usually indicative of sex but cannot (yet) enable AFABs and AMABs to produce a different gamete. i am not an expert i could be mistaken.

Nonpassing transfolx don't bother me at all. Passoids scare the shit out of me. The most fundamental parts of sex like gonads and gametes are the least mutable. But everything else can be twisted to look like a product of the opposite sex. The lack of transparency is what scares people. That sex only becomes apparent on close examination.
