>>8632Homophobia is just wheeled out to shut down discussions of transphobia. There's no homophobia that you can point to that isn't "oh those people think my lifestyle is lame." The majority of Western governments and international bodies support gays, and protecting gays and lesbians is often dog whistle for transphobia. "we gotta protect teh lezbians from men dressed as women" garbage. Its like when people bring up antisemitism to shut down Palestine discussions.
>>8633In my experience irl when people bring up trans issues they'll talk about how being trans doesn't make sense, that its being pushed onto them, that its all a bunch of bullshit, that its emasculating. I've never heard the open calls for lynching trans people that you see online. That kind of transphobe is rare. The gay transphobes are usually pretty quiet in public but will bitch about it when it comes up. Generally, day to day people treat trans people with a mix of ambivalence and discomfort rather than ideological transphobia.
I also don't think people are anti-trans because the ruling classes push the hard ideological transphobia. Its because the concept of being transgender doesn't make sense to them or they associate transgenders with woke culture, anti-religion, sex work, porn etc. they see it as something porn adjacent that should belong in a red light district and not out in the open. Its a clash of worldviews basically.
