Also some lore, one of the most popular Italian stars, Den Harrow, didn't sing his own songs. He was a pretty boy named Stefano Zandri who lip-synced the songs with a made-up biography that he was from New Jersey (or something like that, I guess being American made him sexier). The singer was Tom Hooker, an American singer who also recorded under his name. Hooker sang a lot of songs under different artists' name, it was common to have good-looking actors just lip-sync the performances.

Hooker has since made really stupid "so bad it's good" parody videos of himself under the name "Tam Harrow" with a cheering crowd superimposed into the video, which I thought was funny.
