>be me
>check out a new trendy EDM genre
<it's shit
<go back to listening to acid techno and oldschool gabber
>be me
>check out a new trendy EDM genre
<it's shit
<find a few good examples that incorporate the OG 90s' influences into their style
<listen to this and shit on the rest of the genre
<return to the comfort zone of the 90s
>be me
>check out a new trendy EDM genre
>it's based
>wtf?
<watch as it gets subsequently ruined by commercialization and collabs with pop singers
<keep saying that you were listening to the genre X before it was cool
<get depressed
<return to the comfort zone of the 90s again
Man, I'm genuinely trying to enjoy new EDM genres, it's just that they keep disappointing me over and over. Get off my lawn, kids, reeee!!
>>14978Phonk is the new dubstep
>>14991>Phonk is the new dubstepWdym? There's classic dubstep and then there's Skrillex. The classic dubstep is super-based, don't you dare dissing based Bri'ish DJs.
>>14996>There's classic dubstep and then there's Skrillex.exactly. In much the same way dubstep is too loosely tied genres with one the original of the two being much better the same is true of phonk. Dubstep went from digital mystikz to skrillex and phonk went from spaceghostpurpp to cowbell gamer shit. There are even parallels with OG phonk and dubstep catering to stoners and the newer commercial variants having a large audience among gamers.
>>14997I see. I kinda like drift phonk tho. Don't get me wrong, Three 6 Mafia is giga-based. But I like shit like aggrotech so punchy kicks and distorted bass with filtered crunchy cowbell leads and fast Memphis rapping hit just right. 36M definitely has punchy kicks and fast Memphis rapping however.
