I literally never browse imageboards, my friend who is significantly more chronically online than me (we spend the same amount of time online but he just does more random browsing) introduced me to these, why is it every single image board i come across seems radicalized? e.g. nazi trans flags / white power flags etc
obviously my first site was 4 chan, i posted ~3 times on the lgbt board & made like 2 friends, stopped talking to them shortly after, then my friend showed me soyjak party, then recently showed me end chan & this.
i'm a left leaning person, considered a moderate liberal and it seems like i dont even have a place here.
im genuinely curious. i dont know the culture here and it seems like i dont fit in because everyone seems significantly more extreme than me.
am i socially inept? or am i not socially inept enough to fit in here? i dont really fit in anywhere on the internet it seems.
65 posts and 4 image replies omitted. Are you specifically trying to make yourself into an image board browser for some reason? Imageboards focused on politics tend to be extremist I would say because of the anonymous culture. If you want to talk about moderate left leaning politics there is like reddit, unironically. lgbt on 4chan isn't even that chuddy imo, just constantly under raids because it's sort of in the awkward place of being a lgbt space on the internet that does not discourage cis het men from posting.
>>749961I'm not asking you to fit in.
You're the one begging for friends.
But the thing is, socialisation is a one-shot deal.
You either go along with it in childhood or end up as a loser.
And nobody wants to spend time for losers.
>>749964>imo, just constantly under raids because it's sort of in the awkward place of being a lgbt space on the internet that does not discourage cis het men from postingWhy do people always assume cishet males are the only enemy to LGBT?
You do know there are racist LGBT folk and LGBT phobic women?
friends are overrated, just talk to yourself
>>749969You will regret it.
t. Constantly daydreaming
>>749967100% agree. Some of those people are definitely around, and I wasn't trying to imply that it was exclusively because of that. I just think a lot of the chudposting there is not coming from actual lgbt people as much as 4chan users from other boards, who are mostly men, who are there basically to jerk it to nudes.
>>749975Maybe, maybe not. It really depends.
>>749977You will definitely regret it.
>>749967>Why do people always assume cishet males are the only enemy to LGBT?They have been brainwashed by gay misandrist
>>749969The other day I saw a military-aged man talking to himself very loudly through the street and he gave me the ick
>>749982Some days I do kind of regret it but I generally don't like being around people. It's nice to have someone to talk to if you can really converse with them and find some sort of understanding. But I usually just prefer my own company since being around others often makes me quite anxious and feel like I always need to say something until I click with them. If that's how I'm often feeling I'd rather be alone.
i got introduced to this image board because of some guy on discord constantly glazing this place
i do agree imageboards are more toxic than social media despite me being pro abolitionist for both
>>750226they are more toxic but they are better
>>750243>>750226Imageboards are tame now compared to twitter lol
>>750248I think Varg Vikernes got banned from Xitter so maybe we are not there yet
I also see more rape-cheering here than on Xitter
take it from someone who has spent the last 20 years on imageboards: they are dogshit. every single one.
well, every single one that isn't about japanese trains, full of japanese posters.
the format is basically sound, but outside japan they're almost all culturally derived from or otherwise associated with 4chan, which gives them a stupid set of norms and cultural behaviors that prevent them rising to their full potential. the only good thing about imageboards is that you don't have to register and that you can swap names quickly or go nameless. nobody really understands this, so you get stupid opinions about moderation being bad, about free speech being essential to the format, and a stupid culture of insularity and circlejerking closed-mindedness all the worse because it imagines itself to be genuinely open and free. even /leftypol/, which established a pretty good culture in the past, one that really used leftist infighting to generate new and exciting posts, now has a fairly homogenous (and stupid, and wrong) ideological monoculture.
if you think you can make it on any regular site where you have a consistent identity you should do your damndest to do so. it might've taken 20 years, but i can safely say now: they aren't worth using. a few cheap laughs aren't worth the cost of completely forgetting how to actually hold a conversation online, how to interact under a username where you can't just abandon points when you don't like them anymore, how to be polite, when it's appropriate to reach out to other people, and all sorts of other awkward frictions that come with being a real human being and not just a head vomiting words onto a page.
>>750258p.s. please give me advice on how to leave. someone should write a guide to using twitter/bluesky/discord/tumblr for 4chan retards.
(and an actually useful one at that, not just "don't say slurs here", i'm not
that retarded.)
OP, I felt the same as you, which is why I made
https://libpol.org about a year ago
We're at 1.3 million posts (though it's cheating due to the nature of the site)
Despite the name, we aren't only for liberals. Though the goal is to have a left-of-center board that isn't centered around Marxism or socialism. We accept everyone from communists to laissez-faire neoliberals, so long as they aren't socioculturally right-wing.
>>750273Don't want to be rude, but looks kinda dead.
>>750273oh this is some cool shit
>>750286join the top thread on the overboard and play with it, this is the most remarkable thing i've seen on an imageboard in decades lol.
>>750273I took a shit there
>>750288>I took a shit thereThanks
>>750287We have a lot of other cool features too, and more coming within a few weeks or months.
>>750286>Don't want to be rude, but looks kinda dead. It's one of those sites where every board and thread is dead except for one thread which is pretty-active-to-very-active nearly 24/7, usually with several posts per minute. If we ever get more users there should be more than one active thread, eventually.
>>749858i thought it followed the series of fetish art about anime girls shaving guys dicks and balls
>>749842>why are all imageboards like thisMore like why are all social media like this.
Zero difference between 4cuck and Reddit or Instagram at this point.
>>749842>soyjak partymalware website, you're fucked
>>749842>i'm a left leaning person, considered a moderate liberalahahahahahahahhahaha
outside the united states you're considered right wing, and justly so. you exist to preserve capitalism no matter how many crises it goes through and no matter how close it comes to destroying the world. ohh… is that "extreme?" maybe, but it's the truth.
>>749929swastikas and black suns are both nazi symbols you massive retard
>>750311You act more like your age but with special form of baggage rather than any actual teen.
Also, adolescence is artificial and unfortunately not limited to teens.
>>750248Idk man.
Soyjak and 4chan produced school shooters and drop boxed cheese pizza.
>>750243They're better for people who love being toxic and cringe for the sake of spiting "normies"
>moderate liberal
You come to a communist, and to a lesser degree an anarchist board and you are surprised you don't fit in? Get a clue you imbecile.
>>750313hi im op i was sleeping midday but i would say there is imo!
every imageboard i go to is different from normal social media, the only people who even talk like this are usually larps, id say the only forum that isnt like this is looksmax.org and its not that different
>>750378sorry. like i said i dont really know how to even judge how most boards are aligned. i saw left leaning and didnt know it was extreme-left until i got on it later. my bad
>>749966so why would you even converse with me if i have no possibility of actually making real friends or socializing with people my age
>>750384>looksmax.org oh you're more fucked than any of us here LMAO
>>750384The shit looksmax users are posting have been posted by misc and /fit/ a decade before, OP. Theres literally no difference between social media platforms.
>>749842>why is every image board radicalized? a "radical" looks at the "root cause" to explain contradictions: Marxists talk about class relations and modes of production, feminists talk about gender, racialists talk about ethnic strife, disability thinkers talk about ableism and eugenics etc
> it seems like i dont even have a place herehave you tried learning basic historical materialism 101? watch some Michael Parenti video clips, bonus points for Kwame Ture
>>750258> a few cheap laughs aren't worth the cost of completely forgetting how to actually hold a conversation online, how to interact under a username where you can't just abandon points when you don't like them anymoreAbolition of the social capital commodity form
>>750340Didn't the "duh" help you think it was irony?
>>750334>you exist to preserve capitalism inane and underthought: the random individual supporters of liberalism do little to support actually-existing liberalism. the great thing about a system is that it exists without much regard for "support" as such.
imagine you are in prison: what does it matter if you support or oppose your jailors? you are in prison. the pro-jailor prisoners are no more responsible for this fact than the anti-jailor prisoners.
>>750378this site peaked when it had a handful of rightists in a pen to fight + a chunk of libs and socdems to argue current events with.
that this ultimately failed and lead to the current boring circlejerk is a solid case for starting again with a site full of libs and socdems with a chunk of communists to argue current events with.
>>750402i used to think in terms of abolition of social capital but until that's happening, better to build it and to share it than to pretend it's not a factor.
on the margin, the best thing i can do in the world is find artists with low engagement and tell them that i like their work. if you look at the single most effective action i can take to improve how people feel, it's that.
>>750388i barely post on it i just browse it if i wanna do research on how to fix insecurities i have with my face lmao i dont think im worse off than anyone here because if i was i would be easily able to interact with people.
just because i browse a website once a month doesnt mean i share the opinions. the only person i converse with from there is afroheadluke who is a troll and purely satirical lol im not brainrotted by it i just hyperfixate on my looks because i grew up ugly and even though im considered maybe average or above now i still wish i could look better.
101
Go to 4cuck, it's mostly liberals and centre-leftists now, /pol/ leakage has been mostly patched and that containment chamber will probably be shutdown in a couple years.
>>750501Can I post there "I'm trans" without getting a response like "kys transhumanist you will never be…"?
>>750510All the popular boards are still right leaning, doe.
>>750510No, but for trolling purposes that could actually be a boon.
>>7505014cuck just follows the ideology of whatever is unpopular at the moment it was once left leaning in its early days but as the culture shifted so did their views it seems like its happening again
>>750501Rapeape runs the site and actively promotes /pol/shit, this will never happen
>>750501I recently went to /g/ for the first time in years to get a small issue solved and every post was a paranoid screed about how Linux has been captured by CIA transhumanists or some shit
>>750547>whatever is unpopularVice versa. All those "anti-woke" videos on YT were a literal reflection of what was being pushed on 4chan.
Or do you think imageboards are some kind of elite place, out of the reach of political bots? Boards are literally the perfect place for propaganda, with their anonymity.
>>750586imageboards are probably the easiest for bots since you don't need a login tbqh
>>750510>>750501Apologies for repeated shameless self-shilling, but:
>>750273>>750571>Rapeape runs the site and actively promotes /pol/shitNo idea if it's true but I recently heard a rumor that RapeApe is apparently half-hispanic or something. (Which would be the most unsurprising thing in the world. But, still.)
But yeah, anyone saying 4chan is mostly center-left is obviously insane. I would not be surprised if there are more leftists than liberals on 4chan. Either way, most boards are > 85% right-wing.
