What you say is rational, I can it see around me, it's harder money-wise for almost everyone, friends who are a bit outside the norm or not, my family, city people, countryside people…
I'm still suspicious of beggars. I give when I can, but I know some people can abuse this mechanism.
You see, that's the crux of the matter: the problem between seeing that, obviously, it's because of le stupid capitalist soyciety giving shit opportunities to all of us worldwide during recession time, but also that, in a more primal way, I'm simply a human monkey with limited resources, limited bananas on my bank accounts, and I can give 20 or 50 cents in the streets if I have them, whatever, but I can't pay for everyone, and I've been scammed before.
And people asking for money all the time tend to bring a bad vibe in the end. "Good accounts make good friends". The opposite are heroin or cocaine addicts who continuously borrow money to friends and family until everyone is tired of them and they start stealing.
Where do you draw the line? Okay, obviously there are some factors at play behind this situation beyond "drugs bad, don't do heroin kids mmmh okay". And I don't say zoomers who ask for money are drug addicts, but something nefarious ultimately come act from introducing this dynamic into a group of friends, me thinks from general experience. But for sure, it's not an individual failing, people used to buy more rounds during a Saturday night in a bar when they had better money in the past.
