Materialist explanation for the popularity of the yandere archetype? I think that:
- It stems out of morbid curiosity for a reversal of roles in the "usual" heterosexual couple: "what if the woman was the violent and possessive one in the relationship?"
- It speaks of the desire of the male audience to have someone that unconditionally and blindly loves them, no matter their looks or personality
These are some random thoughts I had before but it m definitely not smart and eloquent enough to expand on them a la Breadtube video essay.
