Albeit this is how religion is -supposed- to work. Oral storytelling passed down from generation to generation that changes based on the context of the times. It's orthodoxy, a fixed adherence to writings from thousands of years ago that is now irrelevant to the modern day, that is unnatural. But if we take this further then Christianity really should not exist anymore. There's no reason anyone in the United States should be worshiping a carpenter from the Middle East. We should have our own local gods.
