i sort of prefer japan's submissive chuddishness. i remember one time browsing a japanese comment section talking about some ftm guy pushing trans rights in japan and someone just plainly stated "i dont like it when people don't conform". in the west meanwhile they will hallucinate all sorts of psychotic reasons why they hate transhumanists (e.g. they are pedos and want to mutilate children's genitals!!!) because they can't square their conformist impulse with their excessive individualism. maybe i am just autistic? i prefer it when people come clean about what they are fundamentally about on a physiological level because then the average person understands that they don't need to humour such impulses, otherwise i have to write long screeds dissecting things when the truth is really this simple

but perhaps if gregory bateson is right about the double blind and its causal relation to psychosis, the way westerners behave is better as it indicates a deeper libidinal contradiction that can be made use of somehow .. at the same time the people who have used said contradictions the most have been the anglosphere's ruling class. in contrast, japan is too high trust and straight-forward. i dont think it is possible to push them along much of any radical trajectory anytime soon

In Japan a guy just got sentenced to 1.5 years in jail (suspended for 4 years thankfully) and fined like $1000 because he ran a website that posted movie and TV plot summaries. Obviously I'm sure plenty of Japanese people pirate but it's a deeply hysterical society about IP in general. Honestly I guess it explains why Nintendo behaves the way they do.
