I mean, work is supposed to be a necessary evil, like hygiene. nobody really wants to do it, but it needs to get done, because if it doesn't, bad shit will happen and/or you won't be able to maintain a certain quality of life, right? so work will have to be done, regardless of the economic system in place. the only silver lining is that 1) eventually most work will be automated and 2) the work that isn't automated, under communism, will be handsomely rewarded with headpats and lots of good things like a quality life in exchange for your contributions.

I was about to say something, but I remembered middle and high school. I think work is worse overrall (longer hours, insufficient number of days off) but specifically the social aspect of school is more of humiliation ritual than work. You can kinda easily just not participate (if you're not Japanese).

I think school has decent amount of days off but now what I see compared to when I was younger is more kids enrolled in after school programs and summer school which just extends the school day and school year. These things didn't really exist when I was in school at least in the primary school years. We mainly had sports that only a few kids did.

I'll die on that hill that work is worse than school. I agree that school from a social aspect is worse than (full time) work though. Of course I have done both and I remember being in HS just fine and I wasn't in any cliques, I never partied, I have never had a gf ever, so no nostalgia for those times in thag regard either. At least there was summer vacation, winter break, spring break, and a bunch of random extra days off. Meanwhile my job doesn't have any extra time off until memorial day. I came home before 5pm when I was in HS and I was doing after school activities. I had time for being me then, now I'm me only on the weekends.
