>>777026the first book is primarily for guitarists, but the bass is a guitar. learn fundamentals from it, like how to read tablature. it's the same for both bass and guitar. the second book is about music theory. there are websites like songsterr where you can see an endless list of tablature that can be played in real time like an midi file or something, learn your favorite songs to start. make sure, when you're learning a song, it's appropriate for your skill level, and be sure to learn it from start to finish. once you understand how to read tabs, you should learn how to read sheet music. you don't have to be "fluent" or whatever but you should be able to read it.
