What's the material explanation for this?
sometimes it's easier and faster to find the image I want by searching for it in a search engine than trying to find it in my filesystem. it didn't have to end this way. we could have implemented metadata in OS filesystems like BeOS/Haiku.
>>778941If you can't bother coming up with meaningful names, just name with a bunch of tags and search using wildcards or find -name. Even then i prefer tabbing through 2000+ images over $$earch engines.
It's just easier
>>778943putting tags into the filenames is a really ugly hack, having to do that for all my unorganized files would also be a huge slog. I would just write a bespoke local booru sorta deal for myself but I'd basically have no way of integrating it into the OS without then having to also fuck around with FUSE. I've thought about this a lot and it would be a nontrivial amount of work although there's a good chance I will eventually attempt this nonetheless because having to look things up in a search engine is itself a stopgap hack.
