People want an alternative that isn't just "shout your support online for powerful nation states with red colored flags". They want a better life and leftists who spend 90% of their time leaking about inter-imperialist conflicts don't improve their working conditions or raise their salaries. Of course the bourgeoisie is aware of this discontent so you can expect to see a lot of social democratic reformist pop up all over, not to mention the right populists who are winning elections all over the world.

So in this shitty state of affairs, at least a few workers escape the hell-matrix of ideology and actually learn about communism and read Marx and become "leftcoms" a.k.a. communists.
