And i’m not talking about belting or anything too harsh, just a smack on the face or a spank as a response to being extremely unruly, rude, whatever

The only case where hitting could be warranted is if the kid almost died by doing something really stupid and you give them a slap to make them realize what they just did. Otherwise this is just you trying to humiliate them.
