People say kids should be spanked or slapped to prevent antisocial traits.

Yet, from what I see, the same kids who were spanked grow up and become adults who develop antisocial traits anyway

A lot of people like to say “spare the rod spoil the child” but I know from past experiences with ghetto kids, seeing how awful they can be and they get whoopings all the time. It just made them more tolerant towards punishment, encouraging them to go further into delinquency

Punishment is reactionary, you can't prevent behavior by just making people averse to being caught. You have to deal with the root cause. Anything else is cope for not having the time to properly raise a kid due to exploitation.

The kids who get spanked got spanked because they're bad kids. Bad kids turn into bad adults. If you spanked a good kid they wouldn't become a bad adult. Spanking is best for inbetween kids on the bubble.

It’s just that society is more visceral to juvenile transgressions than adult transgressions

If you’re ethnic, alot of parents spank their kids out of frustration rather than actual wrongdoing
Kids got spanked for struggling with academics, struggling with manual labor tasks, etc
